A lot of us Gen X'ers were fascinated with these because they were pretty common around the holidays and then suddenly we didn't see them anymore outside of coin shops and shows. Have fond memories of buying penny candy with my Ike dollars grandma gave me for Christmas! Still holds a place in my heart.
I've been collecting these for a few years. I had some here and there but when I purchased a grab bag from Daniel, I got a few of these in them. That started my obsession with the Eisenhower dollars. It's taken me a few years since then to complete the date/mint/T1 & T2 (32 coin set). As always I appreciate the constant informative videos. You keep me hungry for more learning.
I remember as a young kid I would get the Ikes and Kennedys as pay on my paper route and would take them to the corner store and purchase packs of baseball cards at15 cents each.I still wish I had the cards.
Try as they may, dollar coins don`t circulate much. Maybe the golden ones do some but people would rather use a $ note for commerce. One place golden dollars circulate is in south and central America. Their notes are crumpled in a ball so they dont lose them as easy but wear out faster so, coins are preferred.
For the "Toner Collector". Ike's came in a variety of packaging. This has resulted in some interesting colorizations. Also long storage in Whitman albums can produce "bullseye" coins. For those who care.

Bi centennial Ikes are my ulcer coins ! In my early days of buying coins I got "taken to the bank" on a roll. Was offered to me as Proof Silver Ikes and I didn't know how to check at that time (scales, Redbook, etc). Years later I pulled the roll out to look at coins for varieties etc ( I had learned more..🙄). Woeeee....was i pissed !! Someone i had trusted too. Glad I found Daniel's channel and learned more. Won't happen again.
My wife has won and I use the word won lossy, IKE dollars in a coin pusher. The coins aren’t the 40% silver coins but I have my junk bag of “gold” dollars, dummer boys and other crap.
Daniel thank you for making these videos teaching us how to look for what. I personally don’t look for Ike’s but I always like learning especially from a trusted source. God bless you in all your efforts
@WilesPalladino incuse like scratches or incuse like variations as the islands are not there but streaks where the islands are as the 72P is the big money winner for the IKES
@@FreekingAwwsome - incuse as in the *design feature* of the earth on *all* Type 2 reverse Ikes from 1971-S proofs, 1972-S proof and business strike, and 1972 (P) Type 2 reverse clads. Not scratches. And, the islands *are* there...in incuse. "No islands" is incorrect information.

IKE Dollars are probably the most interesting coin of the 1970's. The reverse is really stunning. Definitely a sleeper series in my opinion.
If you’re interested in Varieties, the ‘70’s were loaded across the board!
they might be a sleeper but there were so many minted the price cannot possibly rise much even if interest shot up

Thank you for the video. As a member of the Ike Group, I always appreciate Ike information being presented to collectors.
I love Ike dollars. Once found a 72 TYPE 2 at the bank. Got it graded and came back 63. Not bad for $1 + grading fees
Nice

Thanks Daniel. Fun to look through them. I wore my eyes out looking for those 3 different Islands. lol
At one point you said, "Use Anacs. . ." For a second thought you said, "Use Xanax". Although that might help too!
Thank you!
I like Ike! One of the few complete set album. Btw I bought my 73s from Daniel’s shop. 👍
Same here. I tried buying elsewhere and was disappointed, I have never been disappointed with Daniel.
Could not give them away for the longest time. Love them!
I was in Las Vegas in the early 80's. 4 out of 10, dollar slot coins were the Ike. PS I have never seen a silver Ike in the wild !!!!!!!
Thanks for the video Daniel!
The Mint should have done a 50th anniversary Ike when they did the Morgan/Peace. I think they missed an opportunity there…
I have all year Ike Dollars but not all mints. Just bought 1977S in a PCGS holder Ike Dollar for a good price.
Great information. I have inherited let’s just say a large quantity of Ikes. All of the above and then some. Thank you for all of your help.
I remember as a kid 2 pockets full of Ike's would pull your shorts down if you didnt tighten your belt ! 😂
How did you ride a bike? 😂😂
@@ShirlBussmanput the coins in my basket then put playing cards in the spokes to make it sound like a motorcycle

Thanks Daniel.
I have the Proof 1970 S Peg Leg Coin. Also $25 in Eisenhower $1 Circulation Coins .
I LOVE COINS
Ike's aren't my thing, but it was an interesting video. Thanks for sharing, Daniel. 👍
Thank you

Morning Danielle.
Hi Daniel. I just ordered 2 Ike Dollars from you, and I wondered if you have an Ike Dollar book that I can purchase to place my Ike Dollars in.
Yes, we do.
@@CoinHELPu ok, can you add that to my order ? I would appreciate it. How much is the book ?

Some of the dealers in my city do not even want them.

Hmmm I've actually just started accumulating some Ikes about a week and a half ago and you decide to put this helpful video up.😊
Hi everyone it's amazing to be on here.
You keep saying I can get help but I have not been able to get in.
I am sorry that you can't but I can't help you with that. You need someone who can help you where you are.
I really enjoy your videos.. Thanks for all the knowledge!
I have a coin from 1870
Always a great video and informative, keep it up
A good friend told me that MS67 coins are best for investing in....agree or disagree Daniel?
Just look at the price guides and sold auction results.
What is a good site to see what coins are rare & worth money
Numismedia
Any state coins with money? Thank you jimmy
I don't understand your question. If you're talking about state quarters then no, but there's some varieties to look for.
Finally someone-else confirms my story on the 72'P type 2 - No Islands
actually, the 72 Type 2 reverse earth *does* have islands. They are incuse. Daniel misspoke on that in the video.

Thx Daniel I enjoy watching these videos with a cup of coffee ☕️ in the morning. Gets me motivated to go through my collection
I create them while drinking my coffee.
90 commerative Ike is a nice coin forgotten
I've got all but the 1972 P type 2. All MS or better quality just not graded. Also the 76 P silver which is unobtainable. Or maybe it's the 76 no S.
