    I’ve done through quite a few mint sets… and Daniel is right, you have to be able to use magnification and tip coins to see every angle to see every single nick. I’ve found mostly 67’s and 2 68’s (93&94D’s) really hard to find them… I have sets dating back to 1960, all given by my dad as Xmas presents each year, packed away each year and this last went through them looking for Lincoln cents… 99% have just too much damage to send in… lots of dings and scratches in those sets… 60’s and 70’s were terrible… you really have to search through hundred to find 1 or 2 to send in for grading

    Thanks! I had a coworker exclaiming he had a $5,000 1 cent Anniversary Lincon. It was a coin that was already in circulation!! I told him the odds of that coin being worth more than 1c was about a billion to one. After taking one look at the coin (even without magnification) I could see marks and what I considered damage to the coin. To this day he refuses to acknowledge the actual value of his coin. My only comment: Let me know when/if you sell it, and more importantly, what someone paid for the coin.

    Who can afford to send a cent off to get graded and have it come back ms65 or lower. You'll lose money. Will PCGS put some unknown customer above a well known customer. Do they give you reasons why it's a ms67 and not a 70. No.... you're at their mercy.

    • @shawnsmith9512
      @shawnsmith9512 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      They cant give you the reason why its a 67. Because it doesn’t look like a 68 is the reason. Personally I don’t think anything is a 70. Or if it is it won’t be for long. It seems that most people don’t have the resolution to even tell the difference and you won’t find a industrial gear inspector who cant find a flaw with anything labeled ms-70

    I think, PCGS, is a bit of a rip off, and a scam⁉️ I sent a bunch of Mercury Dimes to them. Plus some of them, have some beautiful toning. They didn't even recognize it. My whole deal with them, costs me around $1500.00. I consider that a bit of an expensive lesson. I will crack open those cases, and will send them to an honest company because they didn't even added any varieties, which some of them have. Even though, I requested them to do it, and I was charged for it. Thank you for your super good advice Daniel.🙏👌❣️

      It is a rip off. But the market is there, it’s strong for PCGS coins. Like Daniel said in the video… but personally I would not send any coins to them unless I find something very special. Like, very special…

    • @CoinHELPu
      @CoinHELPu  วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      PCGS doesn't label toning, unless they consider it artificial, so not sure what you mean, they do not do that. Also, if they didn't label your coin a variety, then it is not the variety. Why did you think this way? You never even thought you might be wrong, so you just call them a scam. They know what they're doing, they do make mistakes, and can be inconsistent, but they don't put a variety on a coin unless it is one and they only label the major varieties. All that you should know before submitting instead of calling them a scam.

      @@CoinHELPu I am not sure what went on ⁉️ When I see, some of the sales reports,, which involve, "PCGS" graded coins, I see how they recognize the toning. Two of my Mercury Dimes, have some wicked beautiful toning, which look way better than some of the ones I have seen. Then, to add salt to the wound, we must have a membership, to send coins to them. Imagine, paying for the gold membership, paying a very costly shipping from Canada, and then, paying for the grading and all the other selections ⁉️ I think, I am entitled to feel a bit, on the pissed side right ⁉️ I have come to realize that their company, it is more like a club kind of thing ⁉️ I have found out about many other cases as well.

    I use a piece of rubber backed cutain that has a short napped front side to place my coins under the scope. It makes it very easy to allow for tipping coins in order to check for any traces of planchet errors or markings that cause you to suffer from Pareideola. I simply push on one edge of the material. That allows for graduated angling of your coin.
    I often see metallic cubic squares that are flush with the coins surface. I believe these cubes are caused by the differences in temperatures as metallic elements cool. In nature, different metals form large/small cubes or (crystalline structures) with differentiating temperatures. This is characteristic in Zinc. You can easily see them on galvanized pipes. They are Zinc coated. All elemental metals have this property and form unique cubes, squares, and inclusions basically depending on "out of the kiln" ambient temperatures.

    You're right in that most of us can't tell a ms69 vs an ms70. But I think the people who are big pcgs customers will get favoritism. A lot of the coin auction results are by the same people. A regular joe like me don't stand a chance. Its a racquet for the well known in the industry. I for example have 1970 proof sets, 5, one is a small date cent the other 4 are not. I have taken them to coin shops and no one will say yes that's a sm. date when it's obvious when the two are side be side. So why bother, yiu can't get straight answers from anyone. But I'm going to keep on collecting.

    • @CoinHELPu
      @CoinHELPu  วันที่ผ่านมา

      You're wrong about favoritism, if that were true then there would be more MS70's business strike cents gifted to them, but as I proved, there's not that many.

    unfortunately if they do start finding and cerifying a bunch in high grades the values will quickly drop. a large part of that value is scarcity, whether genuine or percieved, the 1903 o morgan is a great example, the mint was holding bags of them for decades making it seem like they were scarce, then suddenly they released a bunch all at once and the value plumeted. in the 60s the 93 s and 03 o were priced identically, we saw what happed though

    • @CoinHELPu
      @CoinHELPu  วันที่ผ่านมา

      Actually is hype and registry sets, and although the value can drop some, but it would take three or more to do that. It's the number available versus the amount of collectors that want them.

    Whenever a really common new type coin comes out, I go through hundreds of them trying to find the best one. I throw the obvious junkers aside and then go through my handful of good ones to see which is the least marked. I don't do it to have them graded to make money. I just like having a nice one. And it's something fun to do when you have a dry box of coins with nothing else interesting.
