simagic have absolutely killed it in the mid-high prosumer range. They seem to be doing everything right around the ecosystem, a bit more to go for software with the rev lights. Definitely what I'll upgrade to next when the time is right.
Yeah they’re making the right moves for sure
FINALLY THE BEST REVEIWER REVEIWING ONE OF THE BEST VALUE WHEELS
Hahaha you're far too kind. I'm nowhere near the best. But I appreciate the kind words.
I have one, it’s excellent. Backed up with very good software. So easy to make adjustments car by car.
nice
Yesss. Ordered this recently with the Alpha U and P1000i. Love your videos. 😊
Cheers! Thanks for the kind words!
Dank voor deze video, Laurence! Ik overweeg dit stuur serieus!
It’s a great wheel. definitely worth it
Darn LD... I don't need a GT wheel, but you're really making me want this one. Plus I'm already big in the simagic ecosystem. Great review.👍🏿👍🏿
haha I can't see anyone being disappointed with this one
It's 2024 and we are amazed a company is selling something that isn't a total rip off. I think we used to call it value for money?
Simagic and Moza without a doubt have pushed this market forward.
i agree, but most competing simracing companies do not have the luxury of being based in china and the access to affordable labor, parts, and manufacturing which that provides
It's excellent value for money. This is high quality stuff. If you want value for money, you need to build stuff yourself. Until then, there's a reason stuff costs money. Time, research, intellectual property, distribution, support, all needs to be paid for.
This is the best modern marketing ever. Instead to pay milions for commercials, videos, promotions… make a product and sell it to your fanbase for „too good to be true“ price tag. Fans are more then happy, product gets hyped, it brings more new people to the eco system and business is growing. GT Neo is so amazing. I still think about to sell my moza ks and replace it with gt neo even i have everything from moza… Great review! Thank you!
@daliborbogojevic3593 making a great product and selling it for a competitive price is super difficult 😂 but it’s definitely not bad marketing. Especially because I don’t get paid a cent 😂 there are some affiliate sales sometimes but nothing amazing for the numbers I do 😂
Ah NO NO dont get me wrong - this was not meant for you and not negative AT ALL! I wanted to say (let me think since english is not my first language. i speak german..): I find it great move from simagic instead to put millions in the videos marketing campaigns and all that.. they just made such a strong wheel and they not even selling it at a competitive price. This wheel has no competition at this moment at least. And so many people who never could afford a wheel that quality can do that now. i‘m really fighting for around 2 weeks now against the buy-now button haha because i want to upgrade my moza srp load cell pedalls with conspit cpp lite. This is more important upgrade for me at least but gt neo is so good that it is really hard not to get one. there is really NO reason not to get one as long they get produced and are still in stock. Apologize if my first comment sounded wrong. I really did not meant anything bad! I aöways enjoy your reviews and content!
This is great looking wheel. A big thanks to simagic and moza for filling the big gap of affordable wheels.
I have the KS and a moza ecosystem and I'm really happy with the cost to performance!
Nice! Yeah the KS is exceptional value too
Laurence! Sorry I haven't dropped into any streams recently, work's been madness...
But thank you so much for this video! I've been saving up for two years for the Simagic Alpha U and this is going to be my wheel that I'm going for as well so this made for an enjoyable watch! I promise I will try my best to attend the next live stream. Hope you're well. :-)
hahaha absolutely no need to say sorry :D That's the beauty of my streams and community. They're completely optional and should only be consumed when you have the time. Real life comes first :D
You do indeed get that many stickers
Love the look of this wheel❤
It's surprisingly good. even though everyone told me it was good.
I think you can set the RPM flash percentage by clickimg on the number you want to change on the left hand side . Also the maglink is a seperate purchase at only £20 , Oh and it comes alive with Siimhub support . Great video , thanks
Yep the simhub support is a game changer! I don't think i'll be using the simagic software at all with this wheel
Mine was delivered an hour ago, honestly it feels better than i expected
Yeah it’s a bit surprising really. I really like it
Yay simagic went dark mode on their quick guides & stuff 🤣👍🏼… everybody gets the stickers I got them with my alpha base & gt sport wheel and this wheel will be my next buy soon
Nice. Yeah it’s just a LOT of stickers 😂
Great review man. I'm close to upgrading my CSL Elite for an Alpha or Alpha U. Do you think the Alpha U is worth the extra $250 USD? I know you reviewed the bases a while ago, only reason I'm asking. Going to grab a Neo also.
Absolutely don't need this but definitely want it!
Hahaha you sound like my brain when it makes decisions 😅
Great informative video. It definitely looks like a must in my wheel line up. I would have liked a little bit more information about the wheel adapter. Was it easy to install? How well did it work with multiple types of DD manufacturers?
Very easy to install. I don't have time to try it on multiple bases unfortunately. But I would imagine that information is quite easy to find. It's a fairly universal mounting system.
Lawrence you can change the rev light percentages on the left side to any number to match up exactly with any lights in game. It’s a bit of work to get every light synced up with every light coming on in game but it is adjustable by 1% on every level so it can be synced perfectly with any car. Once you have taken the time to make the lights on the wheel match the in game lights you can save it as a profile so that the next time you drive that car just load that cars profile and the rev lights are perfectly synced up. Each car takes me about 5 min of revving in the pit lane to get synced perfectly and save a profile.
5 mins for each car is just madness though :p It should be as simple as turning a rotary encoder while redlining (or at optimal revs) and you shouldn't need to save profiles for something so basic.
@@LaurenceDusoswa if you don’t want to spend that much time you don’t need to. I’m just fussy with having the color and timing of every single rev light in game match on my wheel. If you just want to change when they flash to indicate the rev limit then just change the top percentage number in the software. It takes 5 seconds.
@alecmillea4539 the others don’t change in proportion though. That’s my point.
I have this wheel using the SRC QR on my VRS wheelbase. I even have an extension as the thicker usb cable i wanted to make sure it didn't get damage from hitting the base or anything.
Nice one! How are you enjoying it so far?
Simagic GT Neo is ordered, looking forwards to put it on my Fanatec Clubsport DD+ with a LEOXZ QR2 core as the quick release :)
I was happy to see the bit of comparison you made to the GT4 wheel. Do you think I should upgrade from GT4 wheel?
honestly, no. Not unless the GT Neo has something that your GT4 doesn't
I'm not biased at all watching this. Writing this before getting into the video. I bought into the Moza Eco-system, and bought this and the maglink over the Moza KS because of the Simhub support.
I'd love to see future iterations of the simmagic gt pro and other wheels support maglink and simhub customization
Yeah I didn't want to dive into the simhub complexity for this video but am definitely going to have simhub power this wheel
@LaurenceDusoswa oh its absolutely a rabbit hole. A good short cut to really good light settings is checking out the Daniel Newman Racing profiles pre-built for it, then tinkering tonyour joy.
It's so good. I don't think I'll be investing in a wheel without simhub support unless the base software is really good, but at that point why not just go with the open standard
I would love a test comparasion with Moza KS. Posible CON for GT Neo: the HAT sticks are a bit far to easy use for the black box compared to Moza that it is very near to your thumb. But the rest really looks amazing and high quality.
Yeah I'll keep an eye on this during my testing
I'd love a round version of this wheel with the same number of buttons and the forged carbon look for a similar price.
Just to comment - yup, I got that many stickers as well! I spent a week with this and the FX Pro - I sent the FX Pro back and kept this one!
nice! Wow that's a big statement for this wheel
I can confirm that my. Gt neo also came with all the same stickers as standard 👍
That’s a LOT of stickers 😂😂😂
Great review and the neo is a beautiful wheel. I'm worried about one thing. I use a Fanatec esport formula wheel to play ACC with it, and its 270mm wide. The Neo is 300mm wide and I'm too used to wheels smaller than 300mm. Do you think its a hinderance switching to a wider steering wheel when you're used to something shorter?
If you like a narrow wheel, I would stick with a narrower wheel. A wider wheel will also give you more turning leverage which will dampen your ffb slightly, so it depends on your wheelbase. If you have a 10Nm+ wheelbase, the 300 will be fine for sure. even on a smaller base it can give a great experience.
how did you deal with the pins when attaching it to your moza base? since the pins arent the same would I need to remove them to not risk damaging my connectors on my base?
No pin damage, although I think they might touch. I was more worried about short circuiting than I was about damage :p
New to sim racing, great review, do’s this work with the fanatic eco system?
As long as your pc has a spare usb port, this will work. As for connecting it, you will need a special adapter to do this. I’m sure people have put this ‘nrg style’ quick release on their Fanatec wheelbases but I have no experience with it.
At last LD! I loved my GT4 wheel but it has not been on since getting the neo, it feels so good in the hands only downside is it makes the GT4 obsolete
some great light profiles through simhub worth a look
Yeah man! I can completely imagine. The GT4 is amazing but this is just more modern. They need to update the GT4 and GT1 ASAP
You probably already figured it out whilst editing the video @LaurenceDusoswa , but the Button Alias is a name that you can give the button, and it shows up on the main SimPro GT Neo page (you can see HELLO showing up on top of the button when you write it).
yep got it eventually :p
I've had my GT NEO for few months now and it is definitely one of the best wheels I have used. Even a little more comfortable than my FX Pro! The only downside is the buttons do rattle a bit with some games/settings.
I haven’t heard any rattling yet :) but I do agree that the comfort is better than the FX pro
I got all those stickers as well. I got them with my Alpha and P1000 also so now im swimming in stickers.
hahahah NICE
i bought the asetek forte wheel (TK edition) for 200 dollar (new at Micro center) in the US and brought it back home to europe, else i would have bought this one. I covers all basic needs with some advanced features ( clutch paddles for example)
That's insane value!
how is it compared to a fanatec clubsport formula v2.5?
I already have a 8nm fanatec base but want a different steering wheel.
Looking if there are any options besides the fanatec wheels.
I haven't reviewed the v2.5
@LaurenceDusoswa thanks for your reply but it doesn't matter. I've watched your videos and decided to go full simagic! sold my fanatec gear and went for a gt neo and alpha base!
so they'd better be good otherwise I'm coming for you haha 😜
Thanks for the review will definitely get this.
Should I get alpha mini or alpha? I'm coming from a csw v2.5.
the CSW 2.5 is great. If you can afford the Alpha, get it. You wont be disappointed with the mini either though but the alpha will be a more significant jump for you.
@@LaurenceDusoswa Thanks for the advice! I'm just trying to move away from the fanatec ecosystem and move on to DD. The fanatec wheels are quite overpriced in my opinion.
Hello, I have the Alpha Mini & GT Neo and shared my two week impressions video yesterday.
@@JamesClarksonSimracing thanks will check it out
I got this one too (still waiting on the delivery) I’m on the fanatec base and i did look at their wheels but for some reason i just didn’t like the look on those ones! The GT Neo has the looks that i like and after hearing many good things about it i decided to order one too.
There are no Fanatec wheels that I have used that come close to this. That’s just my opinion though.
@@LaurenceDusoswa Good to hear! 😁
USe this on my Asetek la Prima....awesome...u need the MagiLink and the Asetek QR then it´s a bit pricy...but nevertheless... i love it
Yeah the costs add up there but still a great investment
Just checked my box, yes I have all the same sticker sheets. I was in the first batch of pre orders, so whether it is still the case I don't know.
It’s a lot of stickers :) more than usual
20:20 you can click on the percentage value and rewrite it, for example, from 97% to 98%. You set the led lights only on the top row and set the percentages you need and then set all the other rows.
I know, you always have to set it manually for each car you want to drive and save it.
Yeah. It’s still not proportional though and has knock on effects for your other levels. It’s far more complex than it needs to be. And it’s not intuitive 😅
Yeah, you're right, it would be great if there was a slider for the upper and lower limits of those percentage values, which you now have to enter manually. The rest of the values for each row would be automatic.
I wonder which wheel you prefer gt neo or asetek la prima?
Gt Neo for me for sure
If didn't have a fancy steering wheel already I'd have that one. No brainer!
Yeah i agree. Someone who buys this and then spends 1k for something 'better' may be bitterly disappointed.
Comparison video GT vs KS but specifically on the software side. Ie how the telemetry features work on different games when used via PC USB. AC, ACC, Iracing, etc flags, abs flashing, drs, etc
Simhub compatibility means that the Simagic wins no matter what. I didn’t cover simhub in this video but there’s no software out there that can compete with simhub for that stuff.
Anyone know? Will this wheel work on Fanatec base on Ps5 with all lit buttons? And if so, Can you make on PC settings and use the saved settings on Ps5?
It will not, as far as I know
@@LaurenceDusoswa Thanks for the reply
The GT Neo is my 'goto' wheel, I love it. Add the Daniel Newman Racing led profiles into Simhub and it transforms the visuals on the wheel LEDs
Nice!
I have read about rattling thumb encoders while FFB is kicking in.
I will keep an eye on it
Does it work with logitech dd pro wheel base?
Honestly I’m not sure if it will. The usb connection will work fine, but I haven’t tried using the Logitech QR on this
The handle snapped off the Simagic GT Neo Jardier had. Good test though, Jardier puts on ten times the miles most people do.
Looks like that is not important to ppl. Handles are connected only on rear half of wheel thickness, not a best idea. KS and Fanatec Mclaren have it on full wheel. Could have design it better.:(
I wouldn’t let an isolated incident like that make the decision for me. It’s all about how resellers handle that situation. Of lots of people are breaking handles then fine. But I’m not worried about it at all.
@@LaurenceDusoswa I have the Simagic GT4 USB version on a VRS Direct Force Pro. Been three years now, and the wheel/rim works as well today as the day I bought it.
For sure the GT4 Is the better wheel!
@@zenflight2450 All 3 wheels are almost the same, they use a monocoque style design that is very common for this type of wheels since it's the strongest, and i don't know if the Jardier wheel is different for being pre-production, but the production wheel is 80% connected on the bottom and top part, only the middle is 50%.
You could say that 100% connected would be better, still if you use it correctly there should be only lateral forces and the weak point would be push/pull force and that's not how you should use it.
Theres quite a few complaints on Reddit with the Neo wheel having creaking noises with bases from 15nm and upwards. Hope there will be a long term review of this wheel as i would be happy to place it on my Fanatec DD+ bases if unwanted noises from the Neo only affects a few.
I’m giving it hell with a moza r21 right now and don’t have any noises at all
@@LaurenceDusoswa That`s very nice to hear. Thank you 😃. I will very likely go for the Neo now. Fanatec are lacking in these type of wheels IMO. Doesn't hurt to have a Simagic wheel in case i want to switch ecosystem in the future either. Cheers
can confirm the ammount of stickers is for everyone like that
cheers :D
does it also work with Thrustmaster wheelbases?
I don't think so. Not without a special adapter. I'm sure someone has made a thrustmaster to NRG adapter though, even if it's just 3d printed
Have you noticed any wearing issue with your grips? I have less than 8 hours of use on mine with Moradness gloves, and parts of the rubber are already getting worn out and flaking. Simagic replied to my support ticket saying it's "normal wear and tear".
I will put in some intense time with gloves at high feedback
@@LaurenceDusoswa Thanks for the response! Hopefully, if mine is just one of a handful of units with this problem, Simagic will send me a new one. Can't wait to see how yours holds up!
Jardier managed to snap his. I happen to put a fair amount of twisting / torque on my wheels, so unfortunately having seen one broke it's durability for me is brought into question
If this becomes a more widespread issue then it’s a concern. His wheel apparently is a pre production unit. But also please consider how resellers resolve the issues. Simagic are really good at hand picking their resellers and holding them accountable.
@@LaurenceDusoswa whilst it may be pre production, with the way the grips mount to the main body, and without a completely different material in the core of the grips, I doubt it will be any stronger. Also, resellers are the unfortunate man in the middle. It's not their defect to mop up (well, it will be perhaps but it's not their fault)- This is on Simagic to understand and potentially fix. As you say though, we'll have to wait and see if more reports come out. One to skip for now, for me atleast though.
So you can actually change the percentages for the rev lights, you just need to click on the number.. Doesn't make it much less of a pain in the ass, it's something haha
Still an unintuitive pain in the ass :p
Has anyone got this to work with Fanatec base on a PS5 ?
I'd say try to ask in the simagic owners facebook group or on their discord
What about weight comparison? How much weight differences?
Compared to which? the KS?
@@LaurenceDusoswa yes
What is with the rap music part way through? 14:36 in ... I had you down as a pogues or U2 guy ;) and besides I'd rarther listen to you explaining what you were doin.
That was 30 mins of faffing about which I’m sure people would rather skip. So I just cut out the irrelevant bits :)
@@LaurenceDusoswa Gotcha, great info btw.. Have a great day :)
Best to use this wheel on simucube wheelbase.
It’s a good option. You’ll need a QR adapter though
Are they compatible with ps5?
unfortunately not
Honestly the more i watch videos like this, the more i realise how much Thrustmaster and Logitech have been left behind.
I got the same amount of stickers.
That’s a lot of Simagic branding 😂
Does it work with Xbox?
Not that I know of. Not without a drivehub system or similar
I bought one but say another TH-camr who broke his. I hope it’s an isolate case or we might find ourselves buying a new wheel.
yep. There are always outliers where some users have some issues. Then it's about how the company responds
any of them work with logitech g pro wheel ?
I don't actually know if there's an adapter. But if there is, this will work.
I definitely would like to buy, but a own a Logitech Pro 🤦🏻♂️
If only Logitech had a standalone QR :( I'm even surprised nobody has made an adapter yet.
Im surprised u paid for that wheelbase while simagic alpha exists 🤔
@@filipivan5125 no, I didn’t. Got it dirt cheap on second hand market. Like less than a T300
@@LaurenceDusoswa I saw that the 3D Wrap guys are working on it. 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼
@@filipivan5125 Console ??
Listen I have a gt neo its fantastic in looks but you can tell the coners cut. Grips, plastic feel etc. For the price its hard to beat but people have hyped them up so much that peoples expectations arent realsitic with it.
Like the shifters even are just so bad imo lol they just dont feel good not just the dampening but the positive feel is off. Dampening should be deep but also till feel very positive. Still hsve a nice pop.
I just dislike the reviews on this wheel people even on the negatives try flipping it into a positive.
Moza ks also gives me the same vibes. Simagic imo is better for sure though.
Gotta disagree. I think the shifters feel fantastic and the wheel itself doesn’t fall short. Obviously it won’t be as good as a cube or gsi but for the price, it’s really good
@@madgamer574 I said it's good but reviews are giving out unrealistic expectations then peoppe grt them and go why does it feel cheaper? Why does it feel so plasticky why do the grips feel lesser etc. If people would know the shortcuts people would still buy but know that they arent getting this wheel that's going to match the quality of higher end wheels which it seems some people are making out that it would.
The Neo is going to feel great compared to the vast majority of $300 and less wheels. If that’s all you’ve used, you won’t really notice where they cut corners.
When compared to my FX and GT Pro however, it’s very easy to tell.
@bfife22 yeah that's actually my only point. You see people asking gt neo or fx? In posts on Facebook and reddit and just everywhere and peoppe bring it reviews and them say get the neo get the neo! It's better! Peoppe truely out here thinking it's as good as 600 to 1k dollar wheels. Thede are people who have not owned others so they spread false information based on what they are told and here. Like I'm sry no wheel can hsve 0 issues or 0 flaws. As you see in reviews even if something is pointed out right after they flip it to somehow not be a flaw lol.
Well it's a good thing there are lots of reviewers. Personally, I DO think this is better than the FX and FX Pro. The main reason being the grips and the location of the 7 way hats. Not to mention that it has more 7-way hats. The materials of the FX wheels are better, but the looks of the GT Neo are better. These are just my opinions. And bear in mind that I review €200 - €2000 steering wheels all the time. My expectations are HIGH. I think Simagic smashed it.
The shifters are good. I made a very clear comparison to help people make up their own minds. I don't know what your expectations are to be honest. As I say in the video, if this was an €800 cube controls wheel, I'd still be saying the same things. I think it's great. If lots of people have an opposing view to you, maybe it's you that might be wrong :D Ultimately it's great to get loads of opinions. Thanks for yours, as they will be valuable for those watching this video and reading the comments.
Jardier snapped the right hand grip on his GT Neo after 6 weeks
Yep. I am aware of this but can’t let it impact my experience. In situations like that, the most important thing is how Simagic responds. Resellers are really good so I can’t see there being any issues if something like that happens.
@@LaurenceDusoswa Yeah i heard you say the review may change over time. I only mentioned it because you said you were struggling for flaws at 360 euros. Still, aside from that, great review. Ive dropped a sub..
Plus it was a pre production version. I'm in different Simagic groups and not a single report of a broken wheel until that of Jardier. I myself have an Alpha running at strong setting and I'm a pretty big guy. No issues. If a broken version scares you away from buying I guess you can't buy anything anymore. Everything can break down. Cars, TV's, computers, etc.
@@Int3x0r lol. 100% Jardier 1-0 GT Neo. ;) Do you know where theyre manufactured by any chance?
Jardiers wheel snapped off
Damn !
Yep. It seems to be an isolated incident. And it’s all about how Simagic resellers deal with it if that happens. Apparently it’s a pre production unit too
Jardier broke of the handle and someone else got the background lights broken, guess there's some quality issues with it in the long run?!
As already mentioned on the other Jardier comments, that was a pre-production unit as confirmed by Simagic. They corrected the design before production units were shipped and AFAIK, that is the only one breakage failure reported. I have also not seen pervasive light failures in any of the many Simagic FB & Discord groups. Seems those are isolated incidents and I expect Simagic and their dealers to hand them with appropriate replacements.
I believe Neo has sold thousands already, so having a few individual issues is quite normal
yep. stuff happens :D It's about how a company deals with it afterwards. If it was a common thing, it would concern me. But Jardier's a big strong guy who wasn't exactly gentle with it when trying to check for flex :D But it's good that he shared it and Simagic is aware of it.
It can't be forged carbon at €360. In fact Jardier broke one
I point out several times that it’s not forced carbon. I’m aware that Jardier broke one. But it was a pre production unit apparently. Either way, I’m sure simagic’s resellers would replace it asap if that happened.
Day 1 hoping to get one 😂😂✌️🫡
Work towards it! Can you put €20 a week aside? Then it would take you less than 6 months to save for one. Definitely worth it!
Hey Laurence. Love your reviews and had bought a simagic alpha and Gt Neo with the p1000 hydraulic pedals.
Can you please please please address why and how simagic have dramatically reduced the power supply for all bases and in turn disgustingly reduced torque on each device. I knowingly did not buy the Alpha Mini as I’ve tried the newer ones and they feel weaker than a Moza R9, but for a Moza R12 to be stronger than a 15nm Alpha is inexcusable.
FFB detail is top notch but the lack of power makes this a waste of money if you’re going for a 15nm base. I’d like to have used this at around 50-65% gain to get more detail and have enough torque to go with it but I’m now running it at 80% and it’s clipping.
My settings are fairly rudimentary, I have all filters always off except for the feedback frequency and feedback detail settings which I’m playing about with but this has no relevance to the power output.
Holding torque is far too weak. Can’t be selling this as a 15nm device.
They’ve honeyd icked everyone into buying them by having reviewers say they’re overpower to now selling them under powered. False advertising and they will lose satisfaction from all of their new customers.
