    Anyone else think the fit and finish leave a lot to be desired?

      That's kinda par for the course for Ricmotech. They charge a ton of money for tech with decade-old production values.

    The button box just looks a bit old. To me it looks like it would be amazing in 2015. But visually today something about it looks dated

    Sorry Shaun but there is no way a stepper motor is the way to go the cogging on the AccuForce was extreme, my Simucube is pretty much identical to the SimSteering motor for feel and these are also used by professional race teams. There is no issue with torque delivery on a servo.

    • @TheSimpit
      @TheSimpit  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The cogging is very minimal. Clipping, clipping is the issue in toque.

    I've upgraded the Accuforce to a SC2 Pro four years ago and no regrets. I also was using the Accuforce for a month after because I was one of the few people who had an RMA with the SC2 Pro. My laptimes dropped during that time and didn't enjoy AMS2 compare to the SC2 but BeamNG felt much better with the Accuforce at that time, which delivered a crazy FFB with the SC2. What I miss with the AF is the smoothness and self aligning force to feel when the car is overstepping.

    • @TheSimpit
      @TheSimpit  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I'd say yes, not because of the motor, but because of the software and its capabilities.

    i'm debating to sell my simagic mini as i can get a Lenze that's 29NM that's less than half the price of a Alpha U, the mini doesn't have enough head room. Not sure about the huge PSU/control box though as the cables are massive, proper industrial size. Also not sure what software it uses, i don't have the patience or want to trouble shoot game problems.

    Ricmotech makes good stuff. That is a great looking outfit. Lot of money, but a lot of stuff. If I was doing PC only and I was really good, I would be looking at it seriously. Add those hydraulic pedals, full movement and a 4090 PC... I bet it would be great to race with. Right up to the wobble test. I went with the Fanatec QR2 which uses pyramidal shapes and a "conibear" trap style connection. Conibear traps have two parallel wires that open up and then clench down. The two opposing pyramidal shapes are wedged in under tension. It works really well. I have my 14" truck driving wheel on and there is just no wiggle or wobble. I was not a fan of the way it looked at first, but it is really tight. It is a big jump over the QR1 metallic ones I had on my CSL Elite.

      How long did Fanatec take to get their though? So many discarded interfaces. Meanwhile Asetek got it perfect on the first try.

    Having an actual dashboard is my plan. But I will be building my own for truck driving sims with functioning gauges and the like. My Fanatec CSL DD is more than adequate for truck driving and occasional racing.

      Yeah I got the ali express 8nm boost kit (50aud). And I have over a decade of truck driving experience... the csl dd puts out more torque than a moving truck.
      However the stationary turning 9n trucks to be simulated, would need to be set to use that 8nm to its full potential

    Just wondering how do you think it compares against the competition? You've mentioned how much you like the motor and wheel base but not much on the subtle differences between the wheel bases, except a small overview at the end.

    I had an Accuforce Pro V2 before switch to an Alpha Mini. They're really nothing special. My AF V2 had tons of issues which never got fixed when I sent it to the factory, it was noisy, and the minute I got on a game with a high HZ ffb system it made horrid grinding noises. Sim Commander is clunky at best and extremely outdated. The settings are so overwhelming that if you don't want to spend hours tuning the wheel it's basically pointless, I also found the auto tuner to leave a lot to be desired and only logged laps 50% of the time. Get something newer and more refined, both this and the Accuforce are outdated and a much less user-friendly experience to get feeling nice than the newer bases.
