      I think that narrative of old school and new era or small ball basketball is because of players like Dwight. If there is a chance that you take the lane you should go for the easy basket right? Since Shaq, Dwight and many big mens who can defend and block your shot dominates the game there is no other option but to gamble for the long and low per. Shot which was developed throughout Dwights era and now being used and revolutionized by steph and other snipers.

    What’s amazing about Dwight is that though he lost some athleticism after Orlando, he saw the changing of the league where centers were expected to be great shooters, and he still had staying power where guys like Roy Hibbert couldn’t keep up. Dwight was still a double double guy even without great shooting. He won a Chip while playing a vital role for the Lakers. He’s an nba great.

    Dwight Howard is a Good Man compared to the bullies and immoral atheletes in the NBA League. He stood his ground against Kevin Garnett,Kobie Bryant and a bunch of other wannabe tough guy superstars in the NBA League. Dwight's moral life and Basketball Skills was not average and showed in how he conducted his life to be not a Thug, even though certain NBA Players like Kobie Bryant complained that he was soft. Dwight Howard marched to his own beat of a different drum. He did not bully people or intimidate ball players or acted in any way to pretend that he was tough. He just played Basketball within the rules and his stats showed he earned the money and accolades he deserved. I watched the NBA and I never heard Mr Howard being a non positive Role Model for young Kids and children. In fact Dwight Howard attracted alot of Young Kids and Young Adults to enjoy the game of Basketball,when he had on His Superman Cape and when he didn't have on His Superman Cape. I am saying certain men in the NBA are ignorant and immoral and these same persons,spoil the game as they act many times as Thugs, an Dwight Howard did not stoop to portray himself as a Thug. Dwight played Basketball and he played it well and as an Ambassador for the Game.

    So he's not banned, he just suffered a lot of injuries and has an ego like all other NBA players. Shaq is stupid for making fun of Dwight Howard for being proud of helping to win the championship. All 12 players on any NBA team are all equally deserving. And if Dwight had real attitude problems why in the world would the Lakers sign Dwight Howard a 2nd time? And considering how hard it is to stay healthy over an NBA career, it makes you appreciate John Stockton and Karl Malone all the more who both played 19 straight NBA seasons, 18 of those seasons together, and barely missed any games and played at an extremely high level all 18 of those years.

    No one black balled Howard. Dude was physically gifted with speed athleticism, defense, etc. But dude, like lebron is one dimensional offensively i.e no mid range game, post moves, jumper, or footwork. He was basically a hyped up dunker. That's why Paul Gasol had such an easy time guarding him in the finals.

    Dwight Howard isn't 7 feet tall. He's about 6'9'' barefoot. He's a true center in the body of a power forward. Age, injuries, and a reliance on athleticism are what caused his decline.

      Dwight didn't fall off much. The game just underwent a huge change and prioritized getting stretch bigs for like 5 years, until people realized the value of centers like Dwight after seeing how players like Bam, Jokic, Aaron Gordon, Mitchell Rohinson, and Kevon Looney heavily contribute to their teams just from defensive presence alone and let's not talk about their rebounding because that's a wrap.

      I feel like its pretty fair to say he could still play as a back up center even if you want to be ageist and say he's too old. In 2022, he played 16 min, shot 63% eFG% and averaged 6.2 pts and 5.9 TRB.
      At this point, he's accepted his role as a back player so my POV is that there's more to the story.

    Dwight needs to be on that list. But for whatever reasons he didn't make it. For me it is not fair that the achievements you already done like the player stats, records and accolades simply don't matter to the league. Maybe that's how it goes when you try to be against the management.

  • @oneyedthing

    What Dwight did in 2009 beating Lebron James and the Cavs made the NBA really angry. A showdown between Lebron vs Kobe was spoiled by Dwight.The Stan Van Gundy incident was planted to mess up Dwight for the long term. Almost every top superstar in any team in history can negotiate a change of team mates and coach. It's taboo to make that private talk out. The NBA purposely did it anyway Dwight acting all goofy didnt help as well. Then bringing him to teams with a ball hog superstar like Harden or Kobe wont work. His prime days were wasted as teams that had him wont trust hiim anymore.
    But you can still see how freakish athletic he was during the bubble and still is playing for asian teams

      @mandark5789 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah. The defense can't keep up with the offense nowadays. Rudy Gobert who is known for his defense became liability when Luka abused him, same thing with Embiid when Tatum drop 50 on his head.
