Thanks man! Just replaced the battery for my wife's GLA. Really hate how those engineers made simple things complicated. It was a 3-5 mins job on my old car, but for this one it took me quite some time to put that battery bottom mount piece back, also the connectors and wires to the positive pole were annoying, had to disconnect extra wires before taking the old battery out of the box.
My MB dealer wants only $350 but I did not replace. I can get one around $200 - Duralast Platinum H6 (Group 48) AGM battery - 760 CCA, 950 CA plus 3 years free replacement.
lol, got exactly the same battery here ($249 from AutoZone), the Duralast Platinum is about 1.5 inches longer and a bit taller, the positive/negative poles are lower, and the bottom edge is a bit wider. Took some time to fit the new battery into the box and mount the security piece.
Since covid my wife and I have been working from home and have been driving my car and left her Benz in the garage. Just tried to jump it with a Schumacher battery charger (can't get my SUV in the garage to jump it and can't put in neutral) so I guess I have to get a new battery.? Where's the best place to get it, and do you agree? I wasn't aware of an auxiliary battery that allows you to put the car in neutral so i guess that's dead too.
Sounds like both are dead 💀 😕. The aux batt is under the driver's floor mat, apparently. Where i live there is a place called battery's + bulbs that is the cheapest. Try Costco too.
You loose 1% charge on your battery a day, and German car seem to loose the charger quicker it seems. So a good battery will only last 3 months un- amended.
Great video but aren’t you supposed to disconnect the negative terminal first? In the video he took off the positive first. Are AGM batteries different?
Did a intoxalock on a 2014 cla 250. I got the starter from the fuse box under the hood the ignition sense from the SAM unit and the constant also from the SAM unit so when i put the key to position 4 the car doesn't start no crank just like if its dead. Charged the battery then even did a 12v jump and still nothing. Checked all fuses from the hood and passenger side fuse box all good. Head unit turns and AC works. And on the cluster display it showes the ESP currently unavailable see operator's manul then goes to ESP inoperative see operator's manual. Any ideals?
When I reattached the vent tube, I pulled on it and it separated from wherever it was attached at the bottom. Do you know what the bottom of the vent tube plugs in to?
No computer information is reset while batter is off? I got my batter from a southern Texas dealership for 200$ and installed in another dealership for 45$. I saw this tutorial but didn't know if any computer components needed to be looked at before the batter change.
After I replaced a battery on my GLA, I got a check engine light on. Tried to clear it, but it would not clear. Ran a scanner it showed a P0562 which is system voltage low. Checked battery voltage, it was 12.8V. Engine starts normal. Maybe I have to drive around but have not. Do you have any idea what would be wrong?
@@dimmacommunication With negative terminal connected, the positive terminal can arc (sparks) when connecting causing damage or explosion. VERY IMPORTANT!!!!!! This is painful to watch. Banging on the terminals, unhooking positive terminal first leaving a live negative then vice versa, obviously it's a 94RAGM and not a 48 due to the size difference. Then you mention nothing about a BMS reset. This type of information and video is what helps people to lose even more money.

you got to love German engineering
Bless you sir, you saved this car-illiterate viewer a ton of time and money! Thanks for taking the time to make this video.
took about 20 minutes, super simple and very cost efficient
Thanks for the vid! Just replaced the battery on my 2015 GLA45 AMG

My 2015 B250 has the red battery symbol on the dash. Says "see owners manual". Would this be my alternator. I'm hoping it's just my battery.

exactly. disassembling order in this video is wrong and strongly not recommended.
Did you get any engine error codes or did you have to reset anything electronically?
I didn't get engine codes
Did the code errors stop after you changed battery
Do you have to do any“reprogram” the new battery to the car?
No it has a backup battery or auxiliary battery that holds its memory
You skipped the part of taking the old battery out? It seems heavy with no handle
no its really light like paper light
True I was probably on the struggle bus so I cut that part out
My top clamp on the ( - ve ) is really tight any suggesting on how to get it loose without damaging the port?
WD40 and let sit for a few hrs?
There's is a clamp puller made just for this job!
$400 for a CLA250 battery?
Thank's start and stop ♥️
Northstar group 48. I had to go to battery store to get it. 775 cc amps

Dose the starter solenoid click like a low batt.
Car was in a bad wreak. It was computer problems
Did you need to reset any computer settings after the change?
I didn't need to?
If you keep voltage going to the car while replacing battery you can save everything.
@@hugovalentin5033what do you mean by this
What's the nut size?
Can the battery be charge?
the batt only last about 2 to 3 years.
Same concept for the cla45?
Yes.
Thank you it was simple😊
Is the red vent tube necessary? Mine falls inside the car while removing the battery and now is no-where to be found
it should be fine it's more for use in the cab of the car.
When I reattached the vent tube, I pulled on it and it separated from wherever it was attached at the bottom. Do you know what the bottom of the vent tube plugs in to?
attach the top of the tube to the batt. like normal and run the other end out the bottom hole. its not really needed.
@@jeffferrittoThanks for the reply !! i just couldnt see a bottom hole. Where is that? Is it part of the battery tray??
@@seanmccabe853 yes. From what i can remember. I don't have that car anymore 😕
@@seanmccabe853 Hi Sean, did you figure this out? I did the exact same thing.
Hi Sean did you figure it out . I did the same thing just now and I been looking for it for hours 😩
What size is the bolt holding the battery down?
13mm

I think as long as the auxiliary battery is working it will be fine. No computer problems.
I think the Aux batt keeps all the computer info. later i found a energizer batt for $225. : (
@@jeffferritto what's an energized battery ? Reg battery or aux
@@pmhomeimprovement8684 a regular battery. If I understand your question correctly

Hello... A general question.... For a Mercedes classe A GLA or CLA how long a battery can last? Any suggestion to last it longer?
Around 2 to 3 years unfortunately

10mm socket or end wrench,spaner

Hi
I can use battery Bosch S5A11 AGM 80AH 800A ?
is good ?
From what I seen on the internet it looks like it will. Check the diminutions.
Great content sir! Do you know what is the size of the wrench to screw off the two bolts at the base that holds the battery? Much thanks!
I wanted to ask you a question but after you remove the old battery and put the new one you don't have to go to the mercedes to reprogram it
There's an aux battery that should keep 12v in the system. As long as that's not dead it should be fine.
@@jeffferritto to ok thanks
Can you tell me which battery model did you buy? Where did you buy it? I cannot find it on Amazon.
At a battery store. Call around for a group 48
The positive side will not budge to come off
Anyone know how to replace the impact fuse on one of these?
literally 3 screws - a 10mm and 13mm socket jobs a good un!
Man those are huge batteries
Nice video. Thanks
Thank you so muchh!
They always suggest replacing both batteries
😱👎🤭😊
First you need to remove the MINUS terminal, then the PLUS. To connect, first PLUS, then MINUS
why ?

I HAVE ONE QUESTION THAT CLA AND GLA ARE THE SAME OR NOT?
It should be exactly the same.
Should have shown lifting out. : (
To those looking at how simple this seems, it takes damn near 4 hands to get new battery in.
It is a horrible design
Negative first
Bro, get a tripod
Yay German overengineering.
