Bruh I just realized all of this stuff, and none of my monitors are compatible lol we all gonna be playing next gen consoles on old gen displays 🤦🏾♂️
It gets more complicated once you start looking for displays especially on the monitor side. Also things like colors, response times, ghosting and other weird problems. For the most part people shouldn't feel the need to buy next gen consoles right away. Maybe in 2-3 months or even next holiday should be a better time, we will have more games and more displays available.

@@aesie1229 Well my experience in trying to find the right monitor for an Xbox One X was frustrating. Sure they had plenty of good monitors that did 1080p-1444p @120+hz. But most of that was only available through display port because they didn't have an HDMI 2.0 port. So narrowing it down i found some decently priced 4k60 monitors with HDMI 2.0 ports but not much variety for 300$. Also had to watch reviews and do some research to make sure the monitors i was looking at had didn't have bad ghosting or response times. I can't imagine how frustrating it's going to be trying to find decently priced monitors and TVs with HDMI 2.1 ports. Anyways my knowledge of this stuff isn't really amazing but from that experience I learned a bit about odd problems and quirks of displays. I found it kinda surprising that I didn't find any monitors that had the options to do 4K60 or 1444p@120hz.
I was gonna buy a monitor but they will cost over $1,000+ just for the HDMI 2.1 add on. Ended up buying this exact model and damn! It's awesome with a beefy PC.

This used to be me, finally got a job and one of the first things I got was a 4k tv. 720p to 4k lmao, it was a big jump.

I dont need no Fancy TV to play my PS5, as long as I get to play my PS5, its all good with me.

@@urekmazino6800 4k@60Hz is easy to find. But they're either expensive or not good enough in other specs (color reproduction, response time, etc.). And of course, higher refresh rate is the better option for games, which these existing TVs don't provide. I'd still choose 1080p@120Hz over 4K@60Hz.

Honestly, most people will be fine waiting a year or two until high refresh TVs are more accessible and affordable. The new consoles will still significantly upgrade everyone's user experiences until you can upgrade to "max out"
By the time most people get 120 fps tvs sony and microsoft will probably be like... hey guys we have a firmware update! We now support 240 fps tvs. And we be like? I just upgraded my tv to 120 fps...

Yeah it's unfortunate how expensive a lot of things are. I always feel bad whenever someone at my register has to put stuff back. A lot of food items are extremely expensive despite how cheap it is to make. It also sucks that our store pretty takes the little money we make back as it's easier to buy from work than to drive 15-30 minutes to Walmart, while it's not a long drive, it's cost gas and many of the poor old people that work there can't drive. It's insane.

In my area we have a target and across the street is an apartment complex that target provides housing for its poor employees. So basically watever they earn from target they are giving back through rent and food costs cause they obviously shop at target too. A job that goes nowhere.
@@WillPM-hs3wm When you mass-produce a product that will clearly sell very well, selling it for a few extra dollars with get you a lot of profit. With something as expensive as a PS5, charging and extra $10 or $15 will go a long way. But greedy companies instead opt to charge way more than that.

Austin I work for these tv for a living, if the tv says "240 motion" it is natively 120hz which is what you want to hit 120 fps. If the tv says "120 motion" it is natively 60hz. I have a 4k samsung tv with motion 240 but no hdmi 2.1 so my ONE X tells me I can do 1440p at 120. I'm sure this answers your question and I hope people dont get discouraged. As long as that tv says 240 it is ready for 120fps but if it does not have hdmi 2.1 the most the tv can do is 1440p 120fps which is fine. *sony tvs that have real 120hz say 960 motion for some reason" thought that would help for those people trying to get a sony tv

Just to be clear all tvs have an added fake "motion" this fake motion is also known as the "soap opera effect". So when you buy a tv that says 240 motion and you turn off the "soap opera effect" your left with the native motion that the tv is capable of, this is why good tvs that are a little pricey will say 240 motion after the fake motion is turned off your left with 120hz. To help some people Samsung calls this feature on their tv "auto motion plus", Sony calls the feature "motionflow", and LG calls it "trumotion". Turning off the fake motion is literally the first thing I do when I get a new tv or go to a friends house.

with new tech stuff, it will happen. if you have a 4k tv 60hz you should be fine, problem will be if you want to trade off visuals a bit for speed, than you will need a new tv that supports that 120hz.

I use a 240hz, 1ms, 1080p Alienware monitor for my first generation Xbox One. Getting a Xbox Series X is still a huge upgrade, don't really mind not having 4K. I definitely agree that displays are going to have to catch up with better sources.

I just got one as well, great tv but there is some backlight bleed in the corners in dark scenes. Shouldn’t matter when gaming really though.
Yeah agreed. Also idk if you have any issues with input lag when playing. I have to put my picture mode in “game mode” or else it’s unbearable.

To be fair, to use a PS3 in HD you also had to buy a new TV and a HDMI cable (The PS3 didn't come with it), and Full HD TVs were really really expensive back then, even more than 4k 120Hz TVs today A 40" HD LCD TV in 2006 was around 3000$.

Best to look at the pictures of the back of the TV before purchasing it. The HDMI ports are usually labeled properly. Most stores website have a picture of the back ports. I got a nanocell 90

Samsung Q90,Q80, and Q70
LG Nano90, BX, CX, and GX OLED
Vizio P series Quantum X, OLED
Sony X900H, X950h, A9G A8H
This is a brilliant video Austin, answers all the questions I had. I'm definitely going to hold off on buying a series X for a few months, and probably give it a year+ before committing to a monitor. Hopefully then we will have 120Hz HDMI 2.1 in the mainstream for some smaller monitors! (Who plays on a 50-70" display?!?!)

LG Nano 85 is the cheapest he just gave you. But if you Google "HDMI 2.1 TVs" then a link comes up with the list of all the TVs. The best value is the Sony x900h.
@@Android.Paranormal he just made a video of how extremely hard it to find the right tv with all the right tech for the new consoles. If it was that easy like your saying he wouldn’t have made a video. So asking for a video that will give us the right TVs from a wide range would be cool. He doesn’t have to buy them all he can just show them on screen when he talks about them.
So it's probably just best to wait until after the series x and ps5 are released and tv manufacturers can design tvs around the consoles to buy one.

I just picked up the Sony 900H. And aside from no VRR yet. It has everything else. I even pulled the trigger on a Sony G700 Dolby Atmos soundbar now. It immediately asked me to update my One X settings now that I have 120hz, Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. It's just a matter of waiting till Tuesday for my SRS X and Thursday for my PS5!!! Got to save the money that I saved all year due to the pandemic is getting spent at the end of it LOL

But the Xbox series S is not that bad, It's an upgrade on PS4 Pro or Xbox One S. I wouldn't be upset though waiting for 4K TV, most are +400 and up and 4k gaming monitors can go up $300

I got the series x yesterday, and I’m getting 1080p 120 hz on my LG 32GN50T-B.AUS, it’s such a cheap monitor for what I’m getting. $229 at Costco. I don’t mind 1080p for now, warzone looks super crisp and runs really smooth, that’s option for anyone wanting a monitor right now.
I bought the nanocell 81 TV, it does run at 120 hz (truemotion), but only at 1080p. I think that it’s still a good buy for the newer consoles, if you don’t want to break the bank.

Thank you for telling people about the Samsung 6 series. At Best Buy we have them dirt cheap, people assume they are 120 cause of motion rate and we always say nope.

Actually, the BX is the cheapest OLED 4K 120hz TV available.
CX is great, but I can live with a slightly inferior TV processor and 2 4k 120hz HDMI 2.1 ports instead of 4.

@@limbogt747 I’ve been using the 2020 model of the V505 - H9. According to the information it runs 120hz with HDMI 2.1 and I have not had a problem with it yet
I have a 2019 vizio M series but runs 4k 60hz. I'll wait for next year's Vizio's to come out and I'll upgrade then. I'm cool with 60hz for the time being.

Us cheapos might have to settle for Xbox series S and Gamepass. Let's face it, people with families to feed usually settle for second-best when it comes to PC or console.
@@neilwilson5785 Series S would have been a great option if they didn't opt for such a weak GPU, I wish they followed Sony's approach of same hardware without disc drive. Also they have decreased the storage capacity and their expansion cards are very expensive.

I work at Best Buy and the LG you bought and the LG you saw online are actually two different models. There’s an 85 series and a 81 series lg
I got the LG C9 especially to get ready for the new generation. It took A LOT of research to get to that and it's honestly the best thing I've ever invested in. It's incredible. The OLED hype is real

@@sanye4k it's been proven that it's very very hard to get burn in now. Check out the burn in tests by rtings. There are systems in place such as pixel refresh and logo luminance levels to ensure burn it doesn't happen

I've bought a brand new 55' Samsung Q7 QLED TV for my Xbox Series X. It's not the best tv ever, but I'm quite satisfied with what I've got.

VERY few games support 120hz, and when they do you have to sacrifice graphics to get there, I'd bear that in mind. Better off with a decent 4K HDR 60hz TV in my opinion. Spend the extra on storage, another controller, or just a bigger 4K TV lol.

@@ADcrackerjack can't run any 120fps content unless it's in 1080, and likely doesn't support it as it probably uses the 120 for interpolation
@@LLSniper would you elaborate on this please? I checked and it says the native panel is 120 hz. And with motion interpolation reaches 400, which of course are fake. I don’t care that much about 4k but could you explain to me why wouldn’t it reach 120 fps with the new consoles?

@@ADcrackerjack simply because it's old with an old HDMI standard, it likely doesn't support a 120hz input unless you've tested it with a PC already to prove that it does. 120hz panels (at least on TV's) were mainly used for motion smoothing in the past.
