I'm 66 and have toured Europe on the GT550 three cylinder two-stroke and the Moto Guzzi 850 T3 California back in the seventies and eighties. Yesterday I bought a 2017 SV650. The previous owner was 76 and had more motorcycle experience than me. Honestly I don't think it's a bike you grow out of. If you get bored of it just keep it until you get more experience.

I am getting my bike serviced today at that very motorcycle shop. I got a lams SV650 as a loaner bike. Its fun and has a good few differences from my Yamaha R3. Low speed turns are definitely easier on a naked bike. It does make me more curious how the unrestricted version pulls, 75hp vs lams at 46hp. My bike makes 40hp for comparison. It's a great bike though and I can see why people recommend it. Good video, thanks!
Great bike and review m8 , i bought a 2020 sv same colour as in your review and love it . Theyve Plenty of power if not restricted . They will soon be even more a classic as suzuki are changing the engine on the sv.

I would recommend the SV650. I purchased a brand new 2019 Honda CB500F for my first bike and upgraded less than a year later to a 2020 SV650. The SV is an all around better bike IMO. But if you’re also looking at an adventure bike since you mentioned the CB500X, I would recommend the V-Strom 650.
Up to 650cc under 47hp 35kw (but no super light bikes allowed to keep power to weigh ratio for beginners) similar to A2 licence requirements in the UK and parts of Europe.
@@captain_midlife very nice review brother I was looking for one you know.. m looking to buy lams as m getting conversion for my overseas they gave me learners after theory next I ll jump on to Full straight but I wanted a bike which I can enjoy at learners and can even on full you know.. can we adjust lams version to full power on same bike after? thanks brother .. be safe out there!

Amazing that these are still made in Japan but cost the same as a Thailand made Ninja 400. Absolutely best value bike (LAMS or otherwise) you can get.

No Suzuki is not changing the SV650 engine. It will continue as is the GSX8S IS A SEPARATE MODEL!

Learner approved motorcycle. It’s only UK, AUS and NZ I think
They are low power versions of the same bike. It’s a power to weight rating
