Thank you for the kind words! I hear a lot of people that get blown away by Legions game style. Same for me! And is true that assembling a pretty sizable army doesn’t have to be expensive.
Terrain also matters in this game. Theyre not just LOS blockers or stuff that slows you down, you are incentivized to hunker down and stay in cover in legion and even scale and climb the terrain to flank. Looking at you 40k that may as well just have blocks on the board cuz all 40k terrain does is block line of sight most of the time.

Short answer, Yes. Legion has been undergoing a company switch for the past bit, but with everything that's slated to come out for the game in 2025, as well as having one of the best gaming communities, the future for legion is incredibly bright.
Any advice on terrain when you just wanna give it a shot without investing a whole lot? Or just tape of an area of your dining table, put the barricades down and that's enough?
Hello there! For your first few games, just using the barricades is enough for sure. Later you can look at scratch building terrain or go for MDF packs or even cardboard packs for terrain. Apart from these more budget options there’s 3D printing. Stay tuned for terrain options, cause I’m making some videos about it soon 🤘
Hi! Your best friend is your best friend with a 3D printer. But there’s plenty of scrap terrain tutorials out there as well. You can make awesome terrain out of literal trash! I’ll have a tutorial on that, out very soon so stay tuned!
I've looked at legion many times but have passed it up each time. Problem for me is it's a steep cost to entry and knowing myself I'd want EVERYTHING, plus terrain for this game is EXPENSIVE. I'd easily spend 2 grand on it. While assembly isn't as much of an issue for me, painting is as I have no experience with it and seeing everyone's awesome setups, paint jobs, terrains etc. makes me think I don't have the space or skill for it. Perhaps in the future :\ I've picked up imperial assault for my fill in the meantime
I see what you mean man. but if you want to get into it and try out painting I highly recommend getting into stormtroopers. I mean, you need a white primer, maybe a black and white contrast paint (apothecary white and black templar), some brushes and youre good to go painting wise. Dont get too much stuff all at once (i know its hard haha), see if you like the painting. I can safely say Star Wars Legion is a good one to get into. As far as terrain goes; try and find a local gaming club or store, theyll have terrain for sure. Hope it helps!

interesting ive been painting warhammer but never actually played (cant find people) so id probably end up doing the same here but the only army i would be into is empire but thats alot of white to paint which sucks, any advice?
In that very particular situation I’d recommend you just pick up one of the many boxes available and do some painting! If you don’t like white, I’d get some shoretroopers or dark troopers maybe? If you do have people to play with, there’s no way around the core set.
I found it on Etsy a few years ago! I think I search for ‘ Star Wars Alien heads’ or something like that. I clipped off a few generic Rebel troopers heads and replaced them with these.
Do the rules change and models get droppped and made obsolete? I played 40k in the early 90s, and recently started playing again, but the game seems to change so fast I can't keep up. I wish they'd stop doing this!
Hi! No this game really doesn’t very much. I do feel the game is still in development somehow, but the update pace is quite slow. Nothing like 40K. Models are never obsolete as far as I know. Even when they get ‘worse’, I personally feel that everything is playable.
Not a common opinion I guess, but the cheaper mini´s made it possible for more people to get into this (Legion was cheap compared to most other tabletop games).
Yes, I feel that a general feeling in the community. I have some people that I met through this community or my videos and livestream; they didnt find the barrier of entry to be too high. I love Legion for that.
Hello from Russia. Because of the sanctions, our prices are high, but we still get our boxes) I started playing in 2023 and a couple of days ago I witnessed a 64-person tournament in St. Petersburg. It was very cool, I hope I can personally participate in the next one.
I've been in love playing battletech even better I can make my own units with 3d printer and best of all it's cheap all you really need is a map which can be made and a compendium book
hey man I enjoyed the video, but as a fellow dutchmen I wanna ask where you get your legion models, everywhere I look legion is almost always sold out when I first wanted to give it a go. currently dont think I will pick up a new wargame, more so wanna paint some of my favorites from the setting, but perhaps ill play in the future
Goedemiddag 😁! I bought most of my legion stuff at 'De Spelvogel'! They have plenty of Legion in stock and have some very nice sales going on pretty much every week. They have some cool Star Wars characters for just 15 euro's (like Lando). I think thats your best bet! MiniHobby is basically always sold out.
I don't think they'll ever do an AT-AT model. That would be too big I think heheh. But I mean, youre free to do whatever you want. I've seen people play X-Wings in this games, using the T47 Airspeeder cards.
Nice video, I bought the core set and some addition recently. Looking forward to playing at some point soon. Where did you get your card holder? (Edit: I’ve just watched your Mando video and found the answer!)
Those are Bandai model kits I believe! But the platforms for those are printed by a mate of mine. Check out my latest video on the Naboo Terrain Showcase. You’ll find more there.
Although I want to get started, it still bugs me that clones and stormtroopers are as good as the droids and rebels, respectively. I know for the sake of the game they have to be but I would like for it to be more realistic.
This is a bummer for me too. It's not so much about balance, it's about cost because a clone mini costs the same amount to be made as a droid mini, so a comparable droid army would actually cost some 3x more than a clone army. Nobody would ever choose to build a droid army that way, haha.
Thank you! Well I started with Legion a while ago and I just love the game system. No need to switch to something else right now. I do want to try Shatterpoint one day tho!
Tired of Games Workshop and looking for an alternative. I was blown away at how cheap Legion is to get into. 75 dollars for what seems like a decent sized starter set is really making ne realize just how fucking greedy GW is
You’ll be very happy with one of the Legion starter boxes! It’s enough to check if it is for you. If it is for you, you got yourself a pretty good army to expand upon.
It does, but if it's something you're interested in and you can split with a friend, it's a very good deal! The miniature's alone are worth it and will take a considerable time to get done. If you're planning to play the game as well, I think the investment is not that bad!
Have to (with respect!) disagree there. If anything, AMG and first FFG (Disney doesn’t produce this game) brought a very accessible and fun wargame to our tables, which I can only applaud. It’s a pity that a megacorp like Disney owns the Star Wars franchise but lets not pretend that this is AMG’s fault. Imagine games workshop owning the rights to Star Wars. I don’t think we’d have the same Legion game as we have now.
Kinda funny how they are diving DEEP into the lore for extra characters, but are staying as far away as possible from the Sequel Trilogy.
🤣 yes it’s quite obvious. But to be completely fair and I know people might hate it; I’d be cool with having first order stuff.

In that very particular situation I’d recommend you just pick up one of the many boxes available and do some painting! If you don’t like white, I’d get some shoretroopers or dark troopers maybe?
If you do have people to play with, there’s no way around the core set.
where did you get the rodian mini for the rebels?
This game seems interesting. Is that TIE Fighter Hanger official? It looks amazing! I definitely want it in my collection.
The game is amazing! The hanger is not official no, but still a very good addition to any Star Wars Legion battlefield!
Great video
Thank you 🙏
Hello from Russia. Because of the sanctions, our prices are high, but we still get our boxes) I started playing in 2023 and a couple of days ago I witnessed a 64-person tournament in St. Petersburg. It was very cool, I hope I can personally participate in the next one.
Hello from The Netherlands back to you! What are you currently playing? Good to see the community does well over there
@@thewynnest Star wars legion of course. I'm starting for Shadow Collective. I'm trying to find the optimal roster for tournaments
@@thewynnestthanks for the reply man!
Ik ga eens een kijkje nemen bij de spelvogel!
@@clonetf141 Ze hebben echt goede sales nu ook idd!
More stuff for the clones!! Cody needs some backup
Cody does need some backup! Excited to see what they’ll reveal at Adepticon
Ok I literally just found out about this and I'm about to sell my 40k suff. Will there be an At-At model coming by chance?
I don't think they'll ever do an AT-AT model. That would be too big I think heheh. But I mean, youre free to do whatever you want. I've seen people play X-Wings in this games, using the T47 Airspeeder cards.
Nice video, I bought the core set and some addition recently. Looking forward to playing at some point soon. Where did you get your card holder? (Edit: I’ve just watched your Mando video and found the answer!)
Glad you found it! What faction did you go for?
Time stamp 0:15 their are Tie Fighter gaming pieces?
Those are Bandai model kits I believe! But the platforms for those are printed by a mate of mine. Check out my latest video on the Naboo Terrain Showcase. You’ll find more there.
yes more star wars legion plz
There will be A LOT more in the upcoming months 🎉
Although I want to get started, it still bugs me that clones and stormtroopers are as good as the droids and rebels, respectively. I know for the sake of the game they have to be but I would like for it to be more realistic.
Yeah I think balancing a game can be quite hard! But I see what you mean.
This is a bummer for me too. It's not so much about balance, it's about cost because a clone mini costs the same amount to be made as a droid mini, so a comparable droid army would actually cost some 3x more than a clone army. Nobody would ever choose to build a droid army that way, haha.
I really want to see Thrawn and the night legion
That would be sick!
Heard AMG, just changed the rules on Legion. Wonder what’s going to happen next. 😂
They did! I made a first impressions video about it. It’s a bit salty tho 😅
REPUBLIC COMMANDOOOOOOOOS!!!!!!!!
Heel erg tof !!!
Dankje! En welkom 🫡
I cant tell you many 40k lists would crumble if firing arcs were a thing 😂
They're were a thing for 40k before eighth edition.
Tof! Wat is in de buurt voor jou?
@@thewynnest Ik woon zelf in Tilburg. Ik vind het niet erg om er een stuk voor te rijden, maar moet natuurlijk niet uit de klauwen lopen. 🙂
Awesome 🎉 But why play Legion as opposed to ShatterPoint
Thank you! Well I started with Legion a while ago and I just love the game system. No need to switch to something else right now. I do want to try Shatterpoint one day tho!
Sub... legion and bloodbowl content? Awesome
Haha thank you 🙏 I’m still exploring the tabletop hobby space, but yeah those are my main games at the moment. Best systems in my book.
It looks amazing. But it just costs so much money
It does, but if it's something you're interested in and you can split with a friend, it's a very good deal! The miniature's alone are worth it and will take a considerable time to get done. If you're planning to play the game as well, I think the investment is not that bad!
Than lets fkin goooö i buy a army
That’s the spirit 😆
play shatterpoint.
But should I play it in 2025? hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
That is the real question now! I’d say; wait a little. The new versions release will be completed this summer.
Because Mass Effect is a dead franchise.
I still have hope hehe
No you should not.
Play literally anything else. Don't give Disney money.
I don’t think we’d have the same Legion game as we have now.
no because legion is a horribly boring system
