Never heard about side stand idling especially since the stand holds them fairly upright. Mine has over 80k miles on it and has been idling much longer than five minutes in its life time. I can guarantee that is a non issue. My bike has been ridden very hard throughout its life and just received good maintenance. Had it since new, I still ride it regularly and is one of the favorites that i have ever owned.
Nice to hear. I bought a 2008 xb12R with low miles and trust Erik’s engineering along with my religious maintenance. I definitely think the bike is a keeper. Makes me real happy
@@vtecbanger3180 Makes me giggle every time I ride it. Looks more and more like art every time I sit in the garage or living room and stare at it. Maintenance is easiest of any bike iv ever had. No paint to mess with. Color is in the very durable plastic and scratches come out easily. No valve adjustment. no chain to fling crap, there is the primary once in a while. When you feel the normally absent chain lag, like a bike normally has, it's time to adjust. Replaced belt once. In 21 years had one little bad start relay and the air box temp sensor went out a year ago. $20 at any auto parts store, from a F 150, lol. That's it. Nothing else has ever gone wrong, ever. Wear items excluded of corse. Watch and be diligent about how it is on the side stand, mine has fallen over more times than I can count. It breaks a foot peg every time it goes over.
Wind screen was clear stock and Buell sold many different shades including this smoked and a blacked out one. Blinkers are also stock with the tint. They were produced in Italy and unfortunately have the crappy European rubber that will eventually crumble away. The exaust is Buell Performance and should have ecu with it. Stock exaust was black with a single large chrome tiped output that dumped on the left side. Battery needs to be a AGM since it lays on its back and you dont want it to leak. Usually they have a better crank capacity as such.
one more thing that i saw in the video. it sounds like your fuel pump is runing constantly when switching on the ignition. normally they prime and stop after few seconds. nice bike!
Clutch Cable is working perfectly by design. No leaks since 15+ years and 5 Buells here. be carefull when tightening the cable!! i mean VERY carefull, they snap like pretzel sticks
Really nice bike and great video, i own a 2006 XB12R i wanna do some work on it, specially giving her a complete tune up, i dont ride my buell it has been abandoned for months 😓
No sportster engine ever revved to 7500rpm. That is the first hint to it not being a Sportster engine. Very hot cams also by the sound. Makes near twice the HP of a 1200 sportster with 984CCs
I have one on my ‘08 XB9SX. The stock exhaust has a single outlet on the left side, and is black in color. Your ECM will either be a factory tuned one or the previous owner may have tuned the stock one to the exhaust.
btw ethanol in fuel actually helps preventing water to settle since the ethanol is mixing with the water and the fuel and so the water will be used with the fuel. does that male sense?
Far as i know, the only reason to limit idlinng is spark plug fouling re early F.I. limits. Same as blipping the throttle alot. Never heard of kick stand / idling issue. Still have my 04 XB9S... yellow !

Nice, had a friend who had one, but in red. It went bang and down hard. He lived but not the bike!!
That’s the motorcycle version of Bumblebee! Definitely sounds like a regular Sportster engine, though.
Yes it is !
There are some differences

Sounds close to a screaming eagle sportster maybe.
It has a Buell Pro Series race exhaust on it. Should also have an ECM to match it, will read “ For Race Use Only” on it. Very desirable set up.
Oh really ? how can you tell this, very interested to know how i identify these things. thanks for the comment !!!!

@@j.underwood4265thanks I appreciate the information .

Good work! How hard is it to find parts for these bikes.
No idea really, I haven’t had to buy much of anything. Just a front brake disc. Thanks for commenting
They need very little an can find quite a few parts with cross referencing to a local auto parts store.
