@FUCK SHIT I don't think it works like that; the fact that the F-35 is detectable by certain types of radar systems at low, medium, or high altitude DOES NOT necessarily mean that the adversary can also complete the "kill chain" and succeed in shooting down the aircraft - the process for shooting down a stealth fighter jet requires that the adversary find, fix, track, target, and “consummate” the kill. For example, aircraft radars typically are unable to detect the F-35 beyond a 6 miles radius due to its very low RCS, therefore they are out of the kill chain unless they can be guided remotely through a Tactical Data Link to perform a "blind" strike in real time, which is by no means an easy thing to achieve. Actually, Israelis have managed to fly the F-35 in daylight over enemy territory undetected.
This thing is the peak of aerospace engineering. My company in Australia worked on developing the manufacturing processes for the vertical tail (as part of the joint strike fighter program) and I've never seen anything like it, the amount of bleeding edge tech that makes building F-35s possible is insane.
These are some of the loudest jets the us has, next to the f18s, I was helping setup the blue-angles end of year show in Pensacola and I was right on the runway, the 35s were doing low passes. Then the Blue Angles took off for practice, they flew by about 50 feet off the ground with full burners. It was angelic.

I was as close as you could get without flying one.. it sucks how the media portrays it even today. It's a beast almost at 900 units. If you're in US don't let it be a dream.. get you're degrees and push into sim side first. Then go for it!

It is undeniable that the development process for the F-35 has been an overpriced disaster, however the product itself is the most versatile and technologically capable jet in the world.
The problem is that most people seem to be focused on its dogfighting capability, which is undoubtedly inferior, but what they fail to realize is that this jet isn't a dogfighter, it's one level above that, like playing videogames with cheats on.
Not only does the F-35 serve as its own AWACS, it can provide that function for a squadron of F-15s, the single most combat-successful fighter jet ever made, or F-22s, the most powerful and capable dogfighting plane ever built.
Its electronic warfare capabilities are its selling point, a Fat Amy will see almost any enemy waaaaay before it is seen, and not only can it deploy weapons before it is even detected, but it can make sure the enemy does not detect any other friendly with it's top of the line jamming gear. It can even deploy a decoy making it look like it's in a completely different position, causing the enemy to throw away munitions, or even hack those munitions and make them useless.
Anyone who badmouths the F-35 just fundamentally misunderstands its purpose and capabilities. This thing is playing 5-D chess while most others are playing checkers, and if by chance checkers needs to be played, it gives our already vastly superior checkers players haxx.
@@degenetron7590dog fighting has been irrelevant for the past 30 years, almost all engagements will be missile to missile and beyond visual range well before you get to the merge.

I am a GA pilot, but I can't even imagine flying an aircraft like that -- saying WOW just doesn't cut it! You don't get in that baby, you strap it on and it takes you clear up through the stratosphere! What a stupendous machine, and it looks like she handles like a dream. (I'm still afraid to fly up-side-down, but then, I'm not as young as those split-second-reaction pilots anymore either.) THANK YOU for this spectacular video of what that bird can do!

OMG! I held my breath for the first minute until I realized I wasn't flying it! Thanks for the site, I loved it. I'm a GA pilot, If I were young again, I think I would have chosen a different vocation! It must be a thrill of a lifetime to fly a fighter jet! (FAR more exciting than doing surgery, standing for 5 or 6 hours at a time when you could be streaking through the air strapped to a fighter jet!)
My uncle is a certified flight instructor, one thing he told me that I'll never forget is, "If you're gonna fly, you should be as comfortable inverted as you are when you're not."
I grew up in China Lake and the sound of these Jets echoing in those mountains is a sound ill never forget....

That belly shot at 3:12 just shows how dramatically superior the materials sciences and RCS understanding is with Lockheed and US contractors, it almost looks alien. Absolutely zero edges, hinges, exposed control surface gaps, turkey feathers, vents, etc. The truth is in these kinds of close-up details, and so-called 5th gen Chinese and Russian fighters look like a school bus in comparison (almost certainly on radar as well 🤣). It is damned expensive, but from an aeronautical engineering perspective it’s a work of art - especially the STOVL.

They fly over my house multiple times daily. In tight formations of four. I live next to Luke Air Force Base on the west side of Phoenix. These planes may be from Luke actually.

Yes always great aircraft the thing is, this aircraft grew up in the social media age when information was instantly.. if we look back when the f16 was developed they were crashing at one point about 1 aircraft per week, but no one knew. When the f35 had a problem it was on mainstream media instantly and got kinda bad rep but great aircraft watch in time. Software and a stealth coating on tail was the few issues they had but now most all solved. 🇺🇲

Rather it is better for Canada to spend that money on actual security threats like Climate Change, Hackers, fraudsters, and future viruses even worse than the Coronavirus. I just recently went to Dallas Ft Worth to do a sheet metal roof on the Lockheed Martin building that was built during WW2. I had the privilege to watch this fighter take off from there among the F-16s. An awesome sight to behold
