One of the best, if not THE best, video on the use of the JEDI transition. TONS of speed and AFTERBURNER usage in this video. Absolutely awesome footage in my opinion! I can’t wait to make the trip out there one of these days to witness this training first hand! Helluva a show boys! 🇺🇸 💪✊🤙!!! God bless all who serve to defend this great nation!

China Lake and that whole region is amazing for aircraft. I was lucky enough to grow up on Edwards AFB so the sounds of an F-15 and F-16 might as well be a soothing rain stick of freedom to me. Great work Jedi.

Take me back to the Panamint Valley! Way, way back in the early 90’s my husband and I were headed east just out of the Valley minding our own business, driving the good old Volvo station wagon (boxy but safe!) back home to Denver. We were cruising along, not a care in the world, when I hear him take a deep breath and make some sort of strangled noise in his throat. I see he’s looking in the rear view mirror so I look back and Lo and Behold there is a fighter jet coming up on our tail! One gulped breath later he was gone only to reappear right in front of us! Then he lifted, rocked his wings a tiny bit and he was gone like lightning.⚡️
Years later I had occasion to tell that story to a former Air Force pilot who said, “That was you?” We laughed and laughed like the fool creatures we were. It was such a perfect thing to say and it still makes me smile.
Of course the video we see here is same place, totally different circumstances. But it is just great to see all the amazing things that go on in this area.
Stay safe guys and gals, don’t forget to wiggle-waggle those fine wings. 😊

For those that don't know, 'Sidewinder,' aka 'Star Wars Canyon' is part of the Darwin Wilderness area of California, west-northwest of Panamint Springs which is NOT part of Death Valley. Death Valley and Death Valley National Park is the next valley to the immediate east of Panamint Valley, about 30 NM (air miles) from the exit of the canyon.

    • @rpeltier2621
      @rpeltier2621 5 ปีที่แล้ว

@@manteganiphotos3688: My bad. Panamint is part of the park, but Panamint Valley and Death Valley are two separate valleys. If a person went to Death Valley looking for Star Wars Canyon, they would not find it and the canyon is not labelled on all maps, but s on Google Maps. Though a great ride on a motorcycle, a person would have to travel westward out of Death Valley, through Panamint Valley on Highway 190 to get close. Note to readers/toursts: There is a sightseeing landmark called Father Crowley Overlook where a person can park, then hike up the ridge to get fantastic photos, with the Darwin Falls Wilderness south of the overlook parking area. Great ride! Great Views. Highly recommended for the adventurous!

4:08 .. Such an amazing view. It always amazes me how people can get so excited about things that are not real .. Star Wars etc. And I'm a fan of science fiction as well. But this is the real deal. Comparitively, very few people, other than aviation or photography geeks, are fascintated by stuff like this. Although, they probably would, if they could see things from this perspective. This is the stuff of science fiction. Giant metal vehicles flying around in the sky, performing incredible maneuvers. And yes, I know in-flight refueling has been around for a long time. But it's still incredible to witness.

A buddy of mine used to fly Lears for a contractor to the military, late 80s to 1991 when the company went out of business. Panamint Valley was one of the places they'd fly, a racetrack pattern 300' above the surface, while fighters would look for them and 'shoot them down.' He had some stories of those days and the fighter jocks. He's a retired AF C-141 left seater.

My late father was career USAF and was a highly decorated member of the USAAF. He trained with actor Jimmy Stewart and later served with a B-24 Liberator unit with the 15th Air Force in Italy. His group was escorted by the. Black fighter pilots ("The Tuskegee Airmen") regularly.
My dream in life was to become a fighter pilot but I started wearing glasses in junior high so I was ineligible.
When I graduated college there was not yet laser surgery to correct nearsightedness.
Now there is and the USAF has a shortage of pilots.
Unfortunately, now I am too old.

Nofer Trunions if you’re driving up through Bishop just cut over. 🤷🏻‍♂️

@@dblankenship88 But Bishop is way north of Panamint and 190 - is there a place to watch near Bishop? I was told of a place 1.5 hours closer to Las Vegas from Panamint that is good watching. Pana is 5 hours from where I'm staying but only 3 hours from Las Vegas where I can find 4 star lodging for as low as $21 a nite. BIG QUESTION: Do I really need to be there are sunrise? Read that the action is over pretty much by 10:30 am.

Nofer Trunions I lived in Big Pine and grew up in Bishop from 1985 till 1994 and live in Vegas now. It is a little drive from Bishop. Are you coming up from Southern California?
You’re correct though it is closer coming from Vegas no question about that. As for the air traffic I haven’t been in 2 years so I don’t want to say it’s slow by 1030hrs. I honestly do not know.

@@dblankenship88 I'm coming from Carson City which is 5 hours away. Even looking for an airbnb that is closer. (bnb prices sure have skyrocketed). Friend who teaches survival training for Air Force said he'd just show up at night an pitch his 1-man tent he carries in his kit. I'm from near Pittsburgh and there are a myriad of laws prohibiting sleeping in cars and tents.

Nofer Trunions ok makes sense since you’re coming from Carson. I had a friend when I was in that was a SERE instructor.
Well good luck hopefully you can get down there. 👍🏼

Not very often you see a clean Growler like that. This is on my bucket list of things to do before I die. When do they do this? How do you find out?
