Pikmin 2 (No Deaths) - Part #02: Awakening Wood (3/7 T ~ 2/4 C)

- (The title indicates how many treasures we've collected in the overworld and how many caves we've explored in the corresponding area.)
Side-note, I'm REALLY sorry about the quality in this part. Starting from Part #03, it will be much better.
In this part, our crew explores the second area of the game. There's plenty to do in here in order to get to the other half of the globe sphere and unlock the next area. I do it all in one day, but don't feel bad if it takes you two.
If you lose pikmin easily, you may need an extra day simply to bolster your forces before tackling a new area. You can re-do Hole of Beasts to get 5 more purples and, unlike what I said in the video, you can re-do White Flower Garden once, in the same day you find it, to get 15 more whites.

I can't lie, Louie's Recipies sound absolutely delightful, My personal favorite is the Male Sheargrub Casserole, The sound of Avocado and cheese with the sheargrub meat is unironically appetizing, what's y'alls favorite?
Awakening Wood is The Forest of Hope. Geographical Projection is where the Yellow Pikmin were found, Hole of Beasts is where the Extraordinary Bolt was located, Blue Pikmin are found where the Armored Cannon Beetle was settling, Decorative Goo is in the location the Radiation Canopy was, and the Red Bulborb is sleeping in the spot where the Eternal Fuel Dynamo was.

Mattingly'sToyBox Also one snagret still lives across the water in the same place as Pikmin, but he’s guarding the last hole where his brothers and cousin live. The third creeping chrysanthemum is in the same place the snagret with the Geiger counter swallowed nested.
I love the piklopedia music. Its so nice to listen to.
You know I can't help but wonder. After the first time Olimar got shipwrecked on this planet he got a fairly good idea of what kinds of dangerous creatures inhabited the surface. So, when he was shipped off to this rock a second time I have to question why he didn't bring some sort of weapon to defend himself with?
Now given the financial situation at Hocotate Freight I'd assume a gun or blaster would be put of the question. But at the very least I'd want to make sure to bring something that's very very sharp.
Just some food for thought that came to me.
Well for the food problem if you haven’t finished the game’s post game Louie actually cooks the beasts that they kill and the ship provides life support for them as well
Well, from what the intro shows, Olimar and Louie seemed to be in a rush to get back to PNF-404; it's likely they didn't think they had enough time to pack weapons (that, and Olimar knew the Pikmin would act as soldiers and guards).
Looking at Louie's entries it makes me wonder how Gordon Ramsay react to these weird recipes.
Hawlo: Unlike primary Pikmin, purples don't have an onion of their own, so they stay inside the ship. They're very rare, so take care of them, OK?

I Know You Finished The Game, But If You Ever Wanna Play It Again Here's A Handy Tip. If You Ever Get A Drop Of Spray (Y'know that Red / Purple Nectar Looking Stuff) Put One Captain Really Close To It, And then have the other Captain Push the captain you put close to the spray into it and before he drinks it all, Run into it as the captain your playing as and if you do it right you should have 2 more sprays instead of just 1.
Thanks, I did know about that. It didn't occur to me to do it in this playthrough, though, I was always ok on drops.

@@Hawlo I remember playing this game as a little kid with my brother. We were both pretty bad at it when we were young-it took about 200 days for us to clear the debt, and we probably lost at least a thousand pikmin overall. Sadly we lost the game along with a lot of our old gamecube games a few years back, but I'm glad we had so much fun with it-we did clear it 100% eventually though.

I never liked how Purples and Whites just stayed in the ship's hull. I would've preferred that they shared Onions with Reds or something.

Yeah, it is quite a bummer that Purple Pikmin and White Pikmin don't have Onions, even Bulbmin😓
The way I do this day is:
Get all Pikmin out
Go to the grass and flower them
Have Olimar take the Reds to work on the gate and the berries while Louie takes out the bulborb and gets the sunseed berry.
Once the ship gets every berry, go to the glint and flint beetle spots and flip them then use the double potion trick (that way you'll have 7 red potions to start with)
Head to Hole Of Beasts
Head straight to White Flower Garden
Then immediately take the whites to work on the poison gate that lets you get the Survey Chart and roll the bridge out.
Once that's collected grab the whites and get the pilgrim bulb
Then just spend the rest of the day getting berries
Instead of getting berries at the end of the list, I would break the other poison gate to get the chance totem. Then I would get berries.
@@erickstone9007 I don't really bother with that poison gate. I just get the chance totem after i get blues to break down the gate at base. Normally after i do all this theres only like 2 minutes left of the day or so, so you probably wouldn't have enough time to break the gate down and do the weight puzzle to get the Dice.
@@zac3194 Indeed. That's one of the few gates in the overworld maps that can be left ignored since it wont change the gameplay. I never destroy the poison gate near the weight puzzle in Awakening Woods. It's faster to throw on the ledge and walk around
@@iris1568 and the bridge near the electric gate in Perplexing Pool, I don't roll that one out either coz, you can just throw yellow over the gate and call then swarm them into it then once they've brought it down, just whistle them and then take blues in and get the treasure. So it's not exactly nesesary to do the bridge.
I like that you can swap between Pikmin in this came, that was so annoying that you couldn't do that in the first game, when I revisited it.
I agree, it gets even better in the third game where the pikmin you throw is not even dependant on position.
@@Hawlo speaking as third the spiders that dropped the fruit was mini bosses and the sands bosses can be killed with a bomb rock.

I think if you whistle the blue pikmin behind the gate, then end the day immediately, you can get them early
Instead of ending the day, you should enter a cave. Also I don't think you can do that in the gamecube version? Only on the Wii?

Yup. There's a pretty good cave for getting a lot of purple pikmin, but it's in the Valley of Repose after you get blue pikmin. Until then, just go into these earlier caves over and over to make more.

How do you get Louie’s notes?
Get the King of Bugs treasure, then it unlocks for every subsequent playthrough.
The king of bugs is Louie, by the way.
He is also the last treasure in the list.
