My wife has a 17 X4 m40i that she adores but I keep trying to convince her to get one of these with low miles! I guess maybe I want it more than she does but it's just a perfect daily
"It's the perfect car". Bro I have a 2017 M2 and when test driving the X3 M40i I felt the exact same way. What more could you ask for in a car? It pulls harder than my M2, drives like it weighs the same, better visibility, can calm down and relax in comfort mode, and is insanely practical. I just bought a 2020 X3 M40i for $39k with 19k miles. one owner no accidents. What a value! I'll know soon enough if it's good enough to replace the driving characteristics of the M2. Delivery in a week
It’s the perfect daily driver. I find myself choosing the X3 over the M2 9 times out of 10. Unless you’re a track rat it really doesn’t make sense to get the M cars or even the sedans anymore. These SUVs are so capable
@@mustangraf Best doesn't mean fastest... The m40i is so good because of is all around capabilities. The x3m is way too stiff to be comfortable daily driving it, yess its a animal but a suv is made for daily driving, if I want a stiff car, i'll buy a sport car not an suv.
What are your thoughts on the 2021 m40i vs 2022 m40i? Not sure if I should spend a little more for the LCI updates or save and go with the 2021. Did you find any lag with the 2021 without the mild hybrid? I do wish it had remote start like the 2022+. Not sure how I feel about one exterior vs the other…
I would go for the 2022+. It's got a better infotainment, more features, the additional electric boost, and remote start. The only thing is the 2021 has a slightly louder exhaust with additional pops.
@@DMCarReviewsi have a 2020 m340i with same engine as x3 m40 but like 500 pounds lighter man that m340i is a beast on wheels just imagine the x3 with 500 pounds ligher 😮
They are very similar performance wise. The X3 has a snappier and more instantaneous response, and it's a higher revving engine than the V8, where the torque is more oriented in low-mid range. The X5 M50i is slightly softer on the ride, and more spacious, but it is not as agile on the backroads, yet still being very capable. I honestly love both, but for myself, I would stick with the X3. I just don't need that much space as the X5 offers.
@@DMCarReviews btw did you find a difference of the ride between this and the x4 m40i 2022? Also in the video of the x3 there is a special launch control mode, when you will do it it will say launch control (sport plus and traction completely off) i think you’ll have a 3.9 0-60 👀
@@DMCarReviews Because you could've possibly gotten an even better time. It normally takes 2-3 seconds for full boost to build when using launch control. While 4.2 is a great(!) number, it is possible for it to run even faster.
@@DMCarReviewsthat’s definitely not the best time because it didn’t even build boost at all, also cars with ZF8 transmission you know when the launch control works because it doesn’t fart on the upshifts anymore when it’s activated and you get the kicks after every upshift
@@DMCarReviews maybe, but ur point how the rsq8 runs a 4.7 or is much higher than the x3m40i time is wrong. Audi wouldnt say it does 3.7 and then really run a 4.7….

this is one of the best all around cars. spacious, practical, fast as hell, drives well

Had a M40 over 4 years and ready to move up to 992 now. It's still the best car in the class!
I would not make that change :) I love the ride and comfort of the M40.
M40i is the best SUV in this planet.

Thank you so much! I appreciate such feedback. Happy New Year's!!
A year later but good video. You actually drove it how I want to drive it, lots of reviewers can't do it. Props to you, I want to own one soon.

@@DMCarReviews that’s great to know, as long as its has some confort the x3 is definitely a better choice to play with on some back roads 🙏🏼

The launch control didn’t engage because you didn’t hold it for long enough and do the whole sequence to activate it
Watch the second run. Launch control worked fine, and that is how it got 4.2 seconds.
@@DMCarReviews He's right, you didn't hold it long enough to get the full benefit.

I believe you meant 8 sec 1/8 mile the first run
Also if you do a full launch control you’ll knock a few tenths off

4.26 is wild,Im questioning if i need to get the x3m comp now lol
Honestly, nah! This moves even better off the line than an x3m (assuming launch isn't used), and it's already a really fast car.
The rsq8 is doing 0-60 in the high 3s. I love the x3m40 but no reason to cap
The RSQ8 isn't doing high 3s off idle. It's in the higher 4s, which is equivalent, if not slower than the X3 M40i.

What mode was the launch in for the exhaust to sound like that in the very beginning?
Just Sport+.
Raced one of these in my TL which does 5.8 on dragy and got gapped so bad 😂
What year is your TL?
It's not an SUV it's a rocket ship on stilts.
Ahah yes
Do you know if this x3 m40i you tested had the M Sport Differential?
Not sure. I can't tell the difference between one with it and one without. They all handle superbly.

@@LivingNoble I drove a TLX SH-AWD (new and older one) and the X3 is on a whole different level. I imagine the RDX can't even be compared.

@@LivingNoble Of course! I mean the RDX is just a family crossover, and this is a sports car in a SAV shape. Just depends on what you are looking for.
ANOTHER FACT THIS VEHICLE IS 4.392 lbs not 4.2k
