So much money for such a poor interior. Just imagine if you were to take out that large screen. You would be left with nothing. This minimalism has to stop.
i don’t think there’s anything wrong with a minimalist approach, it’s just a lot of brands just stray away from details and quality. They have this idea that all they have to do is place a big screen in the vehicle and call it a day, especially luxury brands. My thing is if that’s the formula, then a lot of luxury brands aren’t doing better than the basic ones. Like give me some stitching and high quality materials, shouldn’t be seeing a lot of hard/soft touch plastic or plastic in general. Like there’s only been two brands who i think have the minimalist approach and have done well and that’s Mazda (cx90/70) and Genesis. Those two are giving u a big screen but aren’t taking away buttons and functionality, while still providing details
Outside AND inside, not even a single design line makes sense! Exterior looks like a 10 year old designed it, and the interior makes me think BMW hired all the designers Citroën has ever fired. It better be mindblowingly good from a technical aspect. If more people buy this thing compared to the new Q5, I'll gasp violently enough to reduce the oxygen in the atmosphere by 11%.
@@goncalo33 It's total chaos. The i8 and the iX were great for what they're still trying to achieve, but this new generation of BMW design, starting with the XM is plain awful. I'm willing to bet the new X5 is going to look terrible as well.
@@NotCommanderShepard I disagree. This X3 is really boring to look at; had Kia stuck to their boring old design language, I would assume this is a Kia. Those of us who have been around BMWs find some if this new design language and material choice quite repulsive. The prior generation is where the X3 peaked.
Don't think it's a good idea to have cupholders in the same location as phones. Any hard braking or acceleration risks spilling drinks on the phones...
Too bad the head designer of BMW was still on charge when this was approved. No words. Current gen looks just awesome compared to this. Rear end looks like a F20 1 Series LCI. Tragic.
Unpopular opinion: I live the way it looks. I love the limited amount of plastic on the outside, the headlights' shape, the new grill (better than the huge kidneys we know), and the side line. Interior could be better, but the colors and upholstery really appeal to me.
I don't find the interior or exterior design appealing. Not sure how BMW can get it so wrong, don't they use focus groups to provide input into the design process?
From 2:16 to 2:20 the whole tail light lights up, then from 2:20 (and before 2:16 for a moment) only the outer tail light. When does it light up in each mode?
You need to tell car makers to stop making the wheels even bigger. It makes the ride uncomfortable, it's more expensive to replace, and the wheels are more prone to damage to potholes. If they are offroading capable. The less thicker the rubber the worse it is at handling dirt, mud, and gravel.
Hi Thomas, Always a pleasure to attend your presentations that are both precise and concise, allowing us to have a good overview of the car presented. However, lately I feel you have slightly shifted the presentation manner, in two ways: firstly, there’s much more focus on performance than practicality - acceleration, motor sound and all that staff; secondly, the key features of the vehicle are presented somewhat carelessly (e.g., in this video, it is not really clear how x3 feels with a standard non-adaptive suspension - although your comment implies the road control is great). It is not that I am against a more playful way to present things, but in my view it shall be combined, as you used to have before, with a thorough report on all important elements of the car behavior in everyday life use. Thank you very much. Cheers, Dmitry
Thanks! And always welcome for constructive feedback. I have not changed my attitude towards or the main aspects I present vehicles, I am sorry if you got that impression. Comfort is still one of my main focusses. There will never be a single test vehicle from BMW without adaptive suspension, so I would only be able to comment on that if I get a rental or lease / buy one myself. The industry always wants to presents everything they got; also because some indifferent presenters never talk about whats standard and whats optional and de-rate a car when some features are not present. In this video I tested both the standard model and the M50 both with adaptive suspension and thoroughly went in detail about the differences between the vehicles. There is nothing more I could have done more in detail. Did you watch the video full length?
BMW appear to be handling the transition from ICE to EV better than most premium manufacturers. To have a platform which can do ICE or PHEV or EV as the sales determine in retrospect looks like the right decision. Contrast with VW/Audi. The other thing which strikes me is there is a lot inside which is going to go wrong after say five years of ownership; there is just too much that is too complicated. As ever I am sure the engineering is still wonderful.
I had a 2014 Q5 that started needing more frequent repairs this summer. I am glad I didn't wait for this X3 to come out and went with the GLC 300. Interior is light years nicer than this.
Amongst its competitors i would take the GLC for sure, it has the most conservative and "classic" interior compared to the all new 3 screen Q5 and the mess the x3 is. Who would have thought that the GLC would be the most conservative when it came out lol.

So many cost savings everywhere in this car. Peugeot interior seems more premium but this is a German channel so nobody would admit that.
Peugeot, Skoda, Vauxhall all more premium than this. Let's not start with BYD which will flatten this - let the Denza models arrive it's game over.
I remember when BMW interiors had luxurious materials and superb ergonomics. Guess they’re not that kind of carmaker anymore.
Can't believe that humanity so lost nowdays...
The interior plastics look so nasty... they clearly know that customers IQ has dropped, have no idea what to look for in a car and only care about infotainment screen size! And regarding interior and exterior design... Bring Back Bangle!!! We can all evaluate great industrial design by how modern his creations look today, they all stood the test of time incredibly well!
Looks like old, low poly game model with HD texture mod.
No sunroof, No Buttons. Very bad desicions.
Absolutely disgusting, will be driving my 2020 model until it falls apart and hopefully the next edition is better. Outside looks like a Volvo, interior removed features and replaced others with capacitive touch buttons, /puke.
Thank god Domagoj Dukec has been removed from the design team.
Wait that guy is responsible for BMW's fugly designs ?
He moved to Rolls Royce instead
I also don't like some of the new models, but these new controversial designs have been the greatest success, they have achieved their highest sales ever in the last 3 consecutive years and they keep growing. The designers have helped BMW grow a lot lately
I had the previous model and loved it. When I saw this one I moved up to an X5.
Sincerely I don’t like anything on the G45. It looks like a Korean suv. What were you thinking BMW?
Same thought. It's just a Korean suv with bmw badge.
I'm surprised, Thomas, that you haven't mentioned door handles made from awful plastic. Overall I have to say that the interior looks cheap... Currently, it's an ugly and cheap-looking package for a great engine.
Yeah all of what you said is BS
As a current X3 g01 pre LCI owner, I'm not sure what to upgrade to. I wanted x5, but I expect it to be ruined as well.
New Volvo XC90 but it's v expensive. Kia EV9 if you like electric, or wait for Denza Z9 GT which looks roomy and a Taycan killer. You might need to pay a visit to the enemy, Audi also. BMW gave up.
@@bodrulm1 I don't consider Audi as an enemy 😅 on contrary I recommended it to my wife, and she's happy with it. They just don't steer to my liking. I'd upgrade to macan/cayenne (if considering VAG) but they started this policy of raising prices to become more luxurious (or sorta like that), which is another no no for me 😅
That plastic grill is really weird
Heard they fired that designer? That says all ?
No they did not, they just switched things up in the team and Maximilian Missoni joined. Dukec will be at RR, Hooydonk stays on top. First Missoni influenced designs will be seen from 2029 or later.
kekw
This was designed before that happened.
@@tobias_k01That Domagoj 💩💩💩 its the worst designer in BMW history ....the engineers are the only ones keeping the brand alive. Tue design its absolutely 🤮🤮🤮
@@bobimoto28do you realize that there is actually a TEAM working there? There is not only one designer, it's a 100+ people team. And changing their leader won't suddenly change everything as the people mostly stay the same.
Hate for new BMW designs has basically always been there, even before Bangle... But once the cars get older, the true design quality stands out compared to other cars aging far worse.
With the X5 now massive (I live in a remote village on small roads!), it's great we can get X5 levels of equipment in a better size!
Everything gets an M badge nowadays huh?
They've been putting M badges on m sport cars for over 20 years...
@@bnkh You miss the point
This has been going on since 1999 how du mb are you
@@Rapido20You did a statement and a question that have nothing to do with each other. Applause.
This interior looks so cheap…Why ? It makes me considering Mercedes again…No buttons to fold the seats. No ambiant lighting at the back seats…Cherry on the cake, in France we have to pay an malus, even for hybrid modele, starting January 2025…
Great engine and handling as we can expact but really nothing else. So much cheap plastic inside. As a current X5 M50d owner and was thinking about getting this new X3 M50, having seen what the new SQ5 offers especially interior wise, sigh, hate to say but no way i am gonna spend my money on this X3.sigh....
I ordered outgoing model 2024 x3 xdrive30i and to me is way more classy and refined.
will hold value better.
No wonder BMW dumped the designer of this X3. Good riddance to him!
Dash looks like shit tbh. Instrument panel is clearly made for electric.
Mercedes GLC is far worse in terms of design and interior quality not to mention its boring engine lineup
Check now BYD geely xpeng li auto nio how they made quality of the car you will shock and pay 60% less like from 30-45 max and you get more quality of that Mercedes
Glad we bought our 2024 X3 M-Sport before this monstrosity.
basemodel is 10.000€ Net more expensive than last year G series. despite so much costcutting from the G series. literally robbery from carbrands. unacceptable
I note no sound insulation under the hood. Even Peugeot has it. Soppor cheap and plasticky. And, finally, they managed to fck up the X3 design as well.
This, ladies and gentlemen, is the prime example of why the German car industry is dying.
Erm, the G01 doesn’t have sound insulation under the hood either.
They need to stop this trend of removing physical buttons for ventilation and seat heating and cooling.
Always perfect reviews !!
Thank you so much! Please recommend / share our channel and our videos 🙏
It looks absolutely awful
Looks awesome
The X3 sales will go down with this thing.
Your presentation’s and reviews are the Best!
I love my Thomas blue X3.
Thank you so much! Please recommend / share our channel and our videos 🙏
The lunatic designers working for Honda and BMW are messing up the cars. Both are my favorite brands.
Yet they’re breaking record sales
Every year since 2019
They even outsold Mercedes last year for the first time
@@Rapido20 Their new generation designs are horrendous.
Last gen X3 and its facelift were the best interior quality/design and exterior design wise, that minimalism and lack of buttons with adition of worse materials used for interior is not way to go :/
Geeze!
Why is BMW doing this?
I fear for the 2025 2 Series Gran Coupe 😓
i would love to see side by side comparison with x1 from you thomas. love ur work keep it up. wunderbar

@@autogefuehl already watched it ahahahaha and u kinda mentionek a little in the competitior comparison sectin but still would love to see side by side with the new x3. thx for the comment btw. love ur work
Why fixed glas roof ? i hate these manifactors nowadays opting to this. U should have the choice as a customer.
Stunning. Love your reviews and the car.
Hello human 👋
thanks keep tuning in !
Sometimes a car looks better in person vs a video image. At least we can hope.
Would be great to see refreshed X1 and X3 comparison! Cheers!
Tragic.
This car looks like a circus 🎪 from the inside 😅
Good bye BMW 😔
Unpopular opinion: I live the way it looks. I love the limited amount of plastic on the outside, the headlights' shape, the new grill (better than the huge kidneys we know), and the side line. Interior could be better, but the colors and upholstery really appeal to me.
I definitely skip this one. I get another G01 LCI and drive it as long ad I can. So disappointing.
BMW morphs into Volvo with that grill.
You need to tell car makers to stop making the wheels even bigger. It makes the ride uncomfortable, it's more expensive to replace, and the wheels are more prone to damage to potholes. If they are offroading capable. The less thicker the rubber the worse it is at handling dirt, mud, and gravel.
I do greatly prefer the interior of my 21 X3.
Another great presentation, Thomas.
Your lady friend is delightful.
Thanks m8 🙏
people: I hope BMW doesn't F up the new redesign
bmw: lets make the ugliest X3 possible
Hi Thomas,
Always a pleasure to attend your presentations that are both precise and concise, allowing us to have a good overview of the car presented.
Cheers,
Dmitry
The most beautiful thing in the interior was that smile on that beautiful lady.
Annoying that with every new model generation, cars get wider and longer. But parking lots don’t grow in size! Road lanes are not getting wider!
BMW 5 series from 1972 to 2003 and first generation 6 series - were so beautiful. Bring back that grill, those noses and stop with the light show.
I had a 2014 Q5 that started needing more frequent repairs this summer. I am glad I didn't wait for this X3 to come out and went with the GLC 300. Interior is light years nicer than this.
Stunning. 👏🏼👏🏼
the design already grew on me 😍
Thanks for this. Now we know we should buy the 2024 model before it's stopped.
Amongst its competitors i would take the GLC for sure, it has the most conservative and "classic" interior compared to the all new 3 screen Q5 and the mess the x3 is. Who would have thought that the GLC would be the most conservative when it came out lol.
If X3 takeoff acceleration makes you make those sounds can't wait to hear you drive M5 Touring!
Great review, as always Thomas!
Do the new X3 supprt the "kick" gesture to open the tail gate?
Thanks 🙏 yep
Looks stunning! I like it.
85k++ for the M50 with options is ludicrous
These newer BMWs kinda reminds me of the mid 2000s designs (e90, e60, e65). They looked like cars your grandad drives
I like it. Not a fan of BMW rear designs, but tech and driving-wise it’s a great vehicle.
looks better than the out going .. size wise looks about the same as a first gen x5
