Yo sidenote but Donkey Kong Jungle Beat with the bongos RULED. A perfect example of Nintendo taking a simple mechanic (two buttons and a clap sensing mic) and squeezing every possible bit of creativity and gameplay variety out of it.

This makes me wonder if the failure of the new play control line somehow influenced Nintendo's reluctance to port their Gamecube library outside of the rare remaster/remake.
I think the lack of Gamecube rereleases is more due to Nintendo not viewing them as "retro" enough.
It's more likely because the GameCube, despite its quality and legacy, is one of Nintendo's worst selling consoles, so they probably think a lot of people won't care enough for those games to buy them.
@@Chad_Eldridge Well, if I have anything to say about it, they're wrong. If BladeRunner can get a sequel despite being a commercial flop due to its cult status, then so can Nintendo easily Capitalise on the Gamecube's retroactive popularity.

It's still crazy to me how little the Gamecube sold when almost everyone I knew had one, yet when the Wii came out none of my friends had one
Like Scott sometimes mentions, Wii got a lot of its sales from super casual gamers. People who wouldn't have even bothered with GameCube, 360, PS3 or any other system anyhow

So many new families were buying their kids a Wii for their first console and the added Wii Sports was advertised to be a fun activity for when you have guests over. It was the perfect consumer product for people who wanted to get into games and not be overwhelmed.

So much that it's the preferred choice for Pikmin 3 on Wii U and to a lesser extent, the Joycons with Pikmin 3 Deluxe on the Switch. I would just like to say Scott that watching your channel for the last 2 weeks have really reignited my joy for videogames. Like you said in one of your videos(can't remember which) not only do I enjoy playing the games, but almost as much everything around them. I've had a period of about three years now that, while I have been playing games(cuz that's what you do when you have free time), I haven't enjoyed it that much. But something about your videos have really made me enjoy actualy playing. Just the past week I have finished Super Mario(1,2,3 and world), on the Super NES virtual console, and I'm currently enjoying donkey kong country. I just wanted to say thanks.
