Fun fact: The internet browser for the wii became free around 2009 or so. I distinctly remember because when it did nintendo gave everybody who bought the internet channel 500 wii points. Which I then used to buy Kirby's adventure on virtual console...

I remember when the Forecast channel was a viable way for seeing the weather. My shitty Windows XP desktop would have taken too long to boot up and check the internet, fliphones were no good at telling weather, the TV news took too long to get to the weather most mornings, so I fired up my Wii and checked the weather every morning. Weird to think that it used to make sense.
I still remember the first time I went over to a friends house and they had Netflix. On their wii. I was wowed.

I think the 3ds home is the best one because of the stickers, you can build your own Mario level in a folder, or make a picture of Kirby and link having a tea party or something.

Scott telling us to actually read the health and safety part broke something in my mind. Like I have that screen ingrained so deep in my head I’m positive it’ll never leave it, but I’ve never actually thought about the fact that there are actually words there, that i can read them, and that they say something.
It's like when I was 5 and i booted up the wii for the first time I was all "WOW THIS MUST BE IMPORTANT I WANT TO BE A HEALTHY HUMAN BEING FOR THE NEXT 80 YEARS OR SO" and i became numb to it in 2 days

@@AStarInAndromeda WHAT?! Shun the nonbeliever! In all seriousness, I liked the game pad. It was surprisingly comfortable despite its size. Game pad integration into the games was kind of hit and miss, but some titles really used it well.
I just got a second Wii U.

@@alexriggerson5715 It lets you install a ton of software that wasn't intended originally to run on the Wii. It also lets you run ROMs on it (but due to grey areas on laws, that is borderline on piracy).

Of course they tried no coating with the wii mini models but the smaller form factor made them even more appealing for an afternoon snack so they went with bitter coating for the switch

One of my favorite non-game things to do with my Wii was to zoom all the way out on the Forecast Channel and spin the globe as hard as I could.

One of my favorite things about the Wii was when you turned it on by the console. When you connected a remote it autohit a on the health and safety so you got visual and auditory feedback to connecting.
I don't know why but it was cool. Not as cool as the 360 ring though

If there's a successful console, there's going to be shovelware because some people want to ride off the popularity and those will be the majority. That's been the case with any successful console. You don't hear anyone saying the NES was bad because of shovelware. Also, being gimmicky isn't inherently a bad thing. Creating a new way of playing games isn't inherently a bad thing. It's just a matter of getting used to something new and accepting it for what it is.
GamebroTV most of us were kids during the Wii era, so it holds a lot of nostalgia.

I have a lot of these old consoles. I still use them to this day, my ps3 being my primary console. I havn't seen many of my online friends in years, they've either gotten a newer model, or just never played again. I never got to say goodbye. To this day, I'm still waiting for their return some day.
