My boy Ares is misunderstood. Most, if not all, of the stories about him that have survived come from Athens, who clearly had serious bias towards their war goddess Athena. He loved and was loved by the Spartans and the Amazons which I find amazing

Agreed. Honestly, reading between the lines, I can't help but think it was probably the elite upper classes and the generals who disliked Ares. He seems to be a god of common soldiers, not generals. So I think there was likely a ton of bias. Plus, Ares had cults that only warrior women could join in certain cities, after those same women repelled attacks by invaders while their husbands were at war.

THe way RIordan put it in Percy Jackson and the Heroes of Olympus: THe Blood of Olympus, Ares and Aphrodite were a perfect match for each other because Ares prepresented Hatred where and Aphrodite represent Love and they balance each other out. According to the myths though Aphrodte was married off to Hephaestus by Zeus to try and prevent conflict among the male gods after Aphrodite as Hephaestus really didn't try to attract attention to himself from her (being Hephaestus). On the side note, from their affair, Ares and Aphrodite had Phobos and Deimos (Fear and Terror) who drove Ares Chariot as he wage war from it.

I think Hera only protected Ares from being thrown off Olympus for her own reasons rather than the fact Ares was her son since we are talking about the same goddess who in some myths was the one who threw her other son Hephaestus off Olympus because of how he turn out when he was born instead of Zeus. Especially after her failed attempt to cause an uprising to dethrown Zeus since it be clear Ares wasn't the destined son to do so.

In another story, Thanatos was captured thus preventing deaths from happening. And so the wars no longer pleased Ares until the death god was free.

Besides, number one rule about the Fates and Prophecies in Greek/Roman mythology: You can't defy the fates and you surely can't stop the prophecies from coming true. And technically Metis was right, Hera Apollo and the other gods did manage to dethrown Zeuf for a while. Zeus was just also fated to be released and overthrow the conspirators which wasn't predicted.
Of course it helped that all the gods Hera recruited to dethrown Zeus was as power hungry and self-centered as her leading to a dispute over who should rule after Zeus was dethrowned.
