Aphrodite has been long time lovers with Ares even before the marriage. Heph also just married her because she was gifted to him. Considering most of their children are with each other (ares and aphrodite's) and this trap barely fazed the though, it seemed that Zeus actually set Heph for failure from the start by giving him an unsuitable wife.

Love how it's sort of glossed over with a love theme when 1. Aphrodite was not happy about this union as she had wanted to marry Ares, she was either given to Hephaestus as prize or he blackmailed them into giving her. And 2. Each myth has multiple versions. Just go by the one you prefer I guess. I personally grew up with the version of Zeus being her father. She still ends up screwing her brother Ares to conceive Eros/Cupid but it's better than the other version I've read where Eros is conceived from Zeus and her.

Aphrodite has been long time lovers with Ares even before the marriage. Heph also just married her because she was gifted to him.
Considering most of their children are with each other (ares and aphrodite's) and this trap barely fazed the though, it seemed that Zeus actually set Heph for failure from the start by giving him an unsuitable wife.
The story of Zeus hurling Hephaestus over the ramparts is both sad & hilarious. Ares has anger management issues. No thank you. 😂

This is such a sad love story, even though Hephaestus didn't do nothing but be faithful and attend to his jobs his wife still betrays him instead of being patient and understanding:

Aphrodite is the goddess of love, sexuality and procreation. If her needs aren't satisfied by her husband Hephaestus she would definitely feel bored and her job would be useless to her.
Why should she be patient and understanding? She didn’t marry out of love, she was forced to.
Why would she be patient and understanding if she didn't love her husband in the first place? Imagine yourself being in her situation and being forced to marry someone you don't actually love? Hephaestus just got his Karma for tricking Zeus and forcing Aprodite to marry him.

(Kind of ironic actually) And that he gave away Aphrodite to be released. She was into the god of war (Ares) before she was forced to marry the other man.
There's other things but I'll leave it be, Nonetheless still a decent story.

I don't know if a remember this correctly but ... Hephaestus was in love with Aphrodite and asked Zeus, as a reward for the weapons he created for his father, to compel the goddess of love to marry him. Aphrodite was against it, since she was so self absorbed and only wished to marry someone equal with her looks - she was very disappointed with Hephaestus being her husband since he wasn't handsome at all- even his mother, Hera, despised him.
I can't stand stand Aphrodite. Hephaestus deserves better.

Love how it's sort of glossed over with a love theme when 1. Aphrodite was not happy about this union as she had wanted to marry Ares, she was either given to Hephaestus as prize or he blackmailed them into giving her. And 2. She wasn't lonely or sad about his absence, she never even wanted Hephaestus.
I just dislike how many try to make a villain of Aphrodite by making a victim of Hephaestus.

Aphrodite never even wanted to marry Hephaestus. She had no say in it since Zeus was the one who decided it. Ares is the guy she’s meant to be with because she actually loves him and he deserves that love. Everyone judges him for being ruthless even though some of them have done a lot worse(especially Zeus).And in my opinion, Ares is totally badass and hardcore which is why he’s my favorite Greek God.

Each myth has multiple versions. Just go by the one you prefer I guess. I personally grew up with the version of Zeus being her father. She still ends up screwing her brother Ares to conceive Eros/Cupid but it's better than the other version I've read where Eros is conceived from Zeus and her.
