I'm halfway through, and I just had to stop and say, "Thank you!" I'm enjoying this immensely. I appreciate that you are showing the boat as well as the surroundings, and you are being candid with us about your journey. Love it. Cheers and fair winds from Texas.
Great film and great attitude.....my grandfather used to have large sailing yatchs in the 1930s and always said the pleasure you get from a boat is inversely proportinal to its size and cost. I can appreciate that the size of those waves doesn't show on camera.....keep sailing
Darius's gear must be worth far more than the boat itself..! Being prepared is essential for any ambitious voyages, whether in a dinghy or in a yacht. This is excellent stuff. What a pity that more Mirror 16s were not built and sold. I suspect that some of the reason for this may have been inadequate promotion of the class, but also the fact that a lot of people wanted to buy fibreglass dinghies to save on maintainance. Personally, I'm not very keen on fibreglass as a material, but sadly I'm very much in the minority. In fact, I'm not sure that I've ever seen a Mirror 16 'up close and personal' despite living on the South Coast.
You are a brave sailor, enjoyed your adventure. Still be carefull, the sea is merciless especially when you do things solo. Wishing you fair winds, gr. From the Netherlands
I love seeing your adventures. I grew up in Tighnabruaich, Argyll and learned to sail there.. it’s been a lifetime of sailing adventures including crossing the Atlantic and sailing to dozens of countries. I lived in CA and now enjoy living in Wilmington NC. Being in the sea.. is the best! Thank you again for sharing your experiences!!
that looks like some awesome sailing. cameras never could capture seastates properly. too bad the roller jammed. i never could trust them. gimme hanks and a downhaul any old day. 😂❤😂
dig the rig man! you can greatly improve the strength of the standing rig by putting a good backing plate on the outside of the hull. me and a shipmate dismasted his mirror because of not doing that. i want one badly. not many on the west coast of the USA.
need to loosen up those reef lines on the main sail, theyre only supposed to gather it up. you don't want any load on them. can tear the sail. you probably dont want that in the north sea matey.

Congratulations with this exciting trip! Love how sailing gets the mind focused and forget everything else. It’s like yoga on the water
Lovely sail. Thank you for your generosity in sharing it with us, and looking forward to Part 2! Cheers and Fair winds from Japan.
