My family have owned several of these incredible trucks, generation after generation since the early 2000’s. Some of the most reliable, durable vehicles ever built. Rock solid.
After listening the designer/engineer for this vehicle, the intent was to have a large, yet, "garageble" SUV. The Yukon Denali is larger, no question, but it doesn't fit on everyone's garage. This Sequoia fills that gap of a very large, capable SUV, yet, fits in most garages. That was the goal, and I feel this vehicle accomplished that in style, along with being 20k less than the top of the line Denali.
in all seriousness i would def get a toyota sequoia. engine is really good plus the design of the interior/exterior is very nice imo plus more cheaper😊
This MIGHT be it! Had new Yukon Denalis, every 3 years since 2000. Recently burned by GM warranty - even the dealer showed me internal emails. I can't buy GM anymore. Been toying with smaller stuff like QX60 but I think I gotta drive this one. This might be it for me. Thanks - great review as always.

If your looking full size suv, your choices are the sequoia, Yukon, Tahoe, expedition, and Armada. Out of those, the sequoia and armada would be the most reliable if that’s what your looking for in a car. And between those two, the sequoia has much more modern tech and feel than the Armada
@@RRLV434hmm id say Nissan is the Ford of imports and that 5.6 is much more of S gas guzzler than the GMC/Chev versions. Wouldn’t pick up a Ford W a forklift. Toyota and Yukon w be my choice. Not a fan of That twin turbo V6. Heard its harder on fuel than GM’s 5.3 and had waste gate issues. Any white leather interior is a no go so hope they have a different colour.
It's ginormous but for a small family that's active and travel it's really great. We're talking reliability for years to come. Thanks for the great shots guys
Id pick the Toyota any day. I know it gets mentioned in every videos where there is a Toyota. Seriously though, having Toyota reliability can be life changing. So many people that are used to constantly taking cars to the shop have no clue that is not normal. I feel bad when people are getting repairs and they havent even hit 60k miles.
The deal with the chrome on the mirrors. If someone is coming at you with their high beams you can adjust the mirror to shine the light right back at them.
those things look real nice, build quality is great too. Two BIG negatives are 1) Interior space is class low! 2) most dealers are asking 7K - 20K over MSRP so it's insane trying to get one at MSRP currently, both BIG negatives.
I like the sequoia but the only downfall is the cargo area behind the 3rd row that’s where the sequoia is losing they should’ve made it longer if they want the sequoia to be competitive in the full-size suv segment
Toyota should stretch the Sequoia just like they did with the New Grand Highlander. I think it would be a big hit. Overall it’s a nice SUV that will definitely outlast the Yukon in the long run.
My family just bought this car and it's AMAZING! I know people say the 3rd row is bad but Im 6 foot and I fit very well. The truck is not great but the shelf and cargo net help a lot. It's a smooth ride with a LOT of power!!
Awesome review! Great car but I would rather take the Yukon Denali or Tahoe High Country just because there isn't enough cargo room in the back. I need the third-row seats for the family as well as the cargo space for luggage since our family travels so much
Not enough room, and too pricey. I paid 70k for a loaded Tahoe with comparable features. I have leather, ventilated and heated seats, upgraded wheels, sound system, HUD, exhaust, etc. Maybe if it was 65k, but not 80k. That's before it even gets to dealerships where they will mark it up. Crazy.

I have to say I like the Tundra but this Sequoia is Fugly. Plus that interior is odd to me. It looks like they just just threw everything at it. "Do you want white leather, black leather, chrome, aluminum, black gloss, matte black, or wood tone?" ... "Yes"....
Traded my 2016 Denali in for a Sequoia Capstone. I'm so happy I did. Fit, finish and quality have already exceeded my expectations. I'm much happier with my Sequoia!
Owner of a 22 Tundra Capstone, one of my trips to the dealership I actually had them turn off the pumped in engine sounds. Being a high end luxury model I prefer it quiet.
Really like the white and black contrast interior , having trouble deciding between this and the Tahoe . Not a big fan of the cargo area in the sequoia. Really liking the luxurious feel and look of the sequoia. I could do without the fake acceleration noise. Thanks for the review it really helps
The Sequoia has a very unique style that looks amazing but the Yukon has a better third row and cargo area which I think is very useful when you are buying an SUV.

If this was a mid-sized SUV like my MDX, then your point is correct...but if you're competing with the big boys, then the 3rd row needs to accommodate a grown adult. @@ve2166 *Mid or full.. typically the ones that seat 7 full adults don't get used for that purpose at all and the size of the SUV gets too big to look like a.... basically a bus, as in Cadillac Escalade. The Sequoia length is good, it just needed a little bit lower leg room and the rest is easy. But I have never seen in my life a full size SUV with 8 full size adults inside. I doubt this redesign will leave negative impact on the buyers.*
I think that the point of not showing the cargo space is that it is not gonna soften any blows as the Yukon straight-up has more in each row and overall compared to Sequoia. so he saved the embarrassment and went straight to driving dynamics
They made too many sacrifices from the last generation. The 3rd row space was never good, they ditched the rock solid v8 and the greatest offense of all...no rolling rear glass. With all of those omissions it's my 3rd choice after the GM twins and expedition.
Hey Joe, it's hard to move the rear wiper up top as that's where the rearview camera lives so the wiper would interfere with it. Safety 1st, rain 2nd. LoL. Nice video as usual brother.
I love the Sequoia! I just wish they would extend more room for the 3 row and the trunk space. If I wanted more trunk space, I’d be getting a Chevy Tahoe.
Not ready to go hybrid yet. Would rather stay with the V-8 and the indy rear suspension. Overall still not seeing it for the $$$. And I'm a Toyota guy. One other thing I just noticed. Not sure if I would like sitting in the back seat and having 2 Stars Wars Storm Troopers staring at me

Except that mantra is for their non turbo options - this is heavy, turbo, and hybrid. Look in the Tundra forums about this set up. It aint Toyota reliable...
I’m sorry but a 2015-2016 GM vehicle still has the fold flat seating feature that is standard,why would a 2023-2024 late model SUV not have it,is beyond me..

Ill miss the beloved 5.7l V8 and cargo space is atrocious with the third row up but minus those cons toyota raised the bar with this generation. Interior is nicer and tech got massive upgrade too
I agree. But it’s quite beautiful and our family’s Toyotas have been so reliable. No problems ever. My mom sold her 1995 Camry 7 years ago and it was just sitting in the garage for 7 years before that. The acquaintance she sold it to told her recently that the car is still running awesome and AC in this hot LA weather still cranks cold air! 😂 he uses it as an errand car for everyday use.
Joe, I think Toyota overall did a great job with the Capstone trim. Some little things here or there that I would change. But hey, since we're on the Toyota subject , any word on the redesigned Rav4 or Camry?
I know the camry is due one for next year not sure about the rav 4. The rav 4 just had a refresh so it's not due for a redesign just yet. Maybe a couple years
Every time I look at the Sequoia, I’m like Toyota has to make it bigger to really compete with GMC and Ford, but it still looks like a face lifted crossover in my opinion

Joe! I need your opinion, my man. I'm about to purchase an Integra but I can't decide between the CVT & Manual. Unfortunately, my daily commute is highway driving to work with traffic almost every morning and evening on the way home. My gut says to get the CVT it's actually pretty good and I won't suffer in traffic. But, what's your opinion from an experienced manual driver. Is it that bad in traffic almost twice a day for 30-40 mins? Let me know!

@Joe Raiti. I love the Sequoia. But I still think the interior packaging was not property planned and executed. A vehicle this big should have a proper 3rd row seat and proper cargo area. I think Toyota missed a good opportunity in that sense. I also think going to a solid rear axle and suspension set up is counter productive. A multilink rear suspension would not only have been better but would also have helped with a lower floor at the rear.
At that price in a full-sized American SUV, I expect low-to-no road noise and a better-sized third row with more cargo space. I do like the twin-turbo’s power delivery and the instant torque from the hybrid, though. The Suburban or the Denali win in the space section plus the V8 motor preference. I’m a Toyota guy - have driven them for years …I have a Lexus RX Hybrid and a RAV4 Hybrid at the moment. We were thinking of changing to a Siena Hybrid and a Sequoia Hybrid, but so far I’m actually tending to a Nissan Armada with its brilliant V8 and proven off-road capability. I do like the Chevrolet and GM options but reliability is a concern with those.
Hey Joe you missed the Pain protection at the bottom of the door panels a.k.a “bubble doors” 😅 lots of people questioning if its a Paint protection or a factory defect of newer car they have at the bottom of door panels.
In the 3rd row, is the 2nd row big enough to slide your feet under? My legs stick up in my dads Truck and I just slide my feet under passenger seat and they become much lower

QX80 / Armada would also be a replacement for the Yukon albeit an older platform but with a legit V8.

@@ve2166 The V8 was an outdated gas sucking engine. This turbocharged hybrid complex gives you more power for less gas so it is a win win ... X2.

Toyota needs to make a longer wheelbase version of this. Lack of any trunk space with the 3rd row up is a disappointment.

Those 22 inch rims are not good for the bumps and potholes also very low profile tires are harsh on the road

My family owns this car. I was worried about the fake noise to but to be honest it’s not bad at all! It’s quite most the time unless you floor it.

Joe! I need your opinion, my man. I'm about to purchase an Integra but I can't decide between the CVT & Manual. Unfortunately, my daily commute is highway driving to work with traffic almost every morning and evening on the way home. My gut says to get the CVT it's actually pretty good and I won't suffer in traffic. But, what's your opinion from an experienced manual driver. Is it that bad in traffic almost twice a day for 30-40 mins? Let me know!

@Joe Raiti. I love the Sequoia. But I still think the interior packaging was not property planned and executed. A vehicle this big should have a proper 3rd row seat and proper cargo area. I think Toyota missed a good opportunity in that sense. I also think going to a solid rear axle and suspension set up is counter productive. A multilink rear suspension would not only have been better but would also have helped with a lower floor at the rear.

yeah that's the exact change they did for the new gen GM SUVs for rear suspension to make those seats even better and higher off the ground.
At that price in a full-sized American SUV, I expect low-to-no road noise and a better-sized third row with more cargo space. I do like the twin-turbo’s power delivery and the instant torque from the hybrid, though. The Suburban or the Denali win in the space section plus the V8 motor preference. I’m a Toyota guy - have driven them for years …I have a Lexus RX Hybrid and a RAV4 Hybrid at the moment. We were thinking of changing to a Siena Hybrid and a Sequoia Hybrid, but so far I’m actually tending to a Nissan Armada with its brilliant V8 and proven off-road capability. I do like the Chevrolet and GM options but reliability is a concern with those.

Hey Joe you missed the Pain protection at the bottom of the door panels a.k.a “bubble doors” 😅 lots of people questioning if its a Paint protection or a factory defect of newer car they have at the bottom of door panels.

In the 3rd row, is the 2nd row big enough to slide your feet under? My legs stick up in my dads Truck and I just slide my feet under passenger seat and they become much lower
