Awesome. Thank you for another awesome and practicle review. This a great option for basic solid retro gaming. Im sure if u add another ram stick you can get good PS2 performance. I am impressed❤
@pooksthepossum lol I just opened the box and it's actually got a little heft to it, so to answer your question, yeah it is heavy for its size. Definitely solid built.
@@AdversaryOneso you don't need a regular PC to run it? You can download and run everything from it? Does it bring games or do you download them from sites?
Finally something that does Saturn, and Gamecube well, phew😅 @Madlittlepixel I know you been trying to bring us the goods for quite a while! THANKS my man...💪🏿
Would be interested in a follow up video given the price point, to know if F-Zero GX runs well and how PS2 runs, especially GoW 2. Both games tend to be great benchmarks since they push the emulators.
Very interesting, good price for what can be played, kinda wish this was available over a year ago cause as you say the pi4b is limited in what it can run well
Amazon has a renewed HP EliteDesk 800 G3 mini desktop Quad-core i5 with 16gb DDR4 and 256 SSD for only 118$ they also have a better spec model for 166$
I'd go one step farther and recommend a used home or office PC. I bought an HP (i5-4790) for $35 at a thrift, threw in some spare RAM, added a small SSD, and blammo, I've got a game machine for about fifty bucks. I imagine there's not much difference in performance between a 4th gen Intel Core and whatever this newer but cheaper system is using.
For got to add my only Rael issue with those premade bulits has to do with The Compatibility Support Module "CSM' on The Computer's Motherboard. CSM turns off some of the boot options so and bad guy can't boot form CD-R it hack your system as you are away for the system.
I still don't understand how they work for retro gaming? You download Window the builds and roms directly from it? Does it come setup up with emulators and games?
For this, as a cheaper. You don't need to buy Android TV box for emulation, just Windows Mini PC. But i think it's useful for a people like me who know Windows for decades.
great video. batocera will be choppy it was with me. all u need to do is put in another memory stick so its in dual channel and batocera will run same as coinops runs
Deleted original comment. Got the answers I needed from the Amazon listing. Great price for what you get. Just gotta do the leg work yourself as far as adding emulators and roms.
I noticed at this price point they have a model with and N5095 and one with a N5105 processor. Which model would be better for the emulation you mentioned?
I got a beelink N95 which I think is better that on sale 8gb RAM 256 SSD was $140 plus tax. For gaming the N100 is considered better for gaming. Seen as low as $160-180? See reviews!
Hey! Love your channel, very useful. I bought this mini after watching your video. This is my first foray into coinops, I installed the collections build. The front end works great on all accounts, but all of the games (regardless of system or emulator) are super laggy and jittery. I was able to get MAME to work great by switching the video setting to OpenGL, but thats the only platform that is working for me. Is there some global setting I am missing? Do I need to tweak each emulator or was this plug and play for you? Playing on a 4k monitor set to 1080. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Update - I have gotten most systems working on this mini with the coinops build, but n64 still seems to be struggling on all but the lowest quality settings, particularly it can only handle 1x upscale in the core settings. Would love to hear more about your settings for this, I know you said you didn't tweak the emulator settings from coinops default but when i tried that it was a disaster
I picked one up recently and it plays most things very well. That being said, I cannot get 3DS, PSP, and up to go beyond like 15 fps. I am using standalones like Citra and PPSSPP, but they still do not work well. Also, I am using emmulationstation as the frontend - any recommendations to help these higher-end games run better? My man here, didn't seem to have a problem running these games, so I know there is a solution to this. Any additional info would greatly be appreciated, thanks!
if i end up getting this PC im not even gonna throw a launcher on there, im just gonna run the standalone emulators the same way i do on my current laptop lol.
Thanks for your review. Very informative as ever. Just bought one for my dad using the affiliate link. He wants to start a podcast and I think this system will be good for that.
I know this isn't a tech support channel but I'm having trouble booting up botocera on this thing. After making the external drive priority, saving and resetting, it shows the splash screen for a second and goes to black indefinitely. I tried on two different drives with identical builds and another PC which works fine.
I had the same issue, changing priority and it would go black... I went back in and disabled secure boot and it worked. I don't remember exactly what I chose in the BIOS, Id have to go back and double check but it took more than just making the external drive priority.
@Madlittlepixel Thanks for the reply. Sadly no luck yet. Main menu doesn't allow much to manipulate besides language, time and date. Security / secure boot = disabled. Boot / UEFI Hard Disk Drive BBS Priorities / Boot Option #1 = Kinhank HDD external Save & Exit / Boot Override = Kinhank HDD External Everything else is pretty much default. Thanks again for trying to help.
My only issue with these are I find MAC based emulation better then Windows based emulation and to me VR is the only reason to go with Windows since VR for the MAC is just not reday for primetime yet. In fact The Oculus Rift not working with my MAC since the bootcamp drivers didn't allow for EGPUs was the only reason I got an Windows PC.
