Thanks so much for the informative video! I just bought a red 2020 CX-30 Preferred package two weeks ago, and there's much to learn because of all the features it comes with! I was also worried about buyer's remorse because I really like the CX-5, too, so I appreciate you walking through their differences. The 5 has some nice added features (power lift gate and rear charging ports), but I think the 30 looks a little sportier. You convinced me that I made the right choice. Thanks again!
My wife has a Mazda3 and I love it. I traded my focus for a CX5 so my wife can have and I took her mazda3. We love the CX5 so much. We're always like, you drove last time, it my turn. Haha. Love the signature red as well. Mazdas are awesome.
Thank you for this comparison. Really informative to have these to cars close to each other. CX5 is too large, to much extra space, outdating interior. CX30 is way more balanced, no extra space and it make the interior cozy. It is a nice option for the coupe and hatchback lovers who got the possibility to try a balance between design and practicality. I prefer CX30 despite the fact that CX5 has a bit higher speed in successful moose test.
@@JSS Yes Jonathan. We are in the market for a second vehicle. If I buy right now, I would pick a CX 30. But, curious if 2021 CX5 will get the CX30 updates.

Thanks Jonathan Sewell for a nice comparison video!
Thank you. I’m not sure if some areas of US gets Mazda3 or CX-30 from Japan or not. My memory tells me our first models were from Japan, but I can’t remember exactly.
CX 30 is made in Mexico and CX 5 in Japan. Having bought a CX 30 a year ago almost, didn't notice any issues absolutely. With all the lines now being automated, doesn't matter much where it is being manufactured these days. The only issue is with one of the wheels that it has some defects with they being horribly balanced

Well...great news for you...The last order cycle the blue interior was replaced with black. I’m not sure if Mazda execs heard you, or maybe many others also. So in a couple of months there will be black interior instead of blue. I have one ordered. So you can get a CX-30! 👍🏻
@@Al-vb6js If the CX5 with the back chopped off so short and looks so pushed in and out of proportion with the front is too big, then virtually everything in that class and above is a tank.
I test drove both today. Can anyone explain why the CX5 drove more smoother and more cushiony than the CX30. I was under the impression they are very similar engine wise. I really had my sights on the CX30 until I liked the feel of the CX5 better. Really curious why.
Yes, they have the exact same powertrain so shifting/acceleration should be identical. A couple of thoughts why the drive was different. What size wheels were on the test drive vehicles? Also, the CX-5 does have more sound dampening materials that could give the feeling of different. Also the wheelbase abs track is longer/wider on the CX-5 offering a more well-positioned vehicle.
I felt the same way! I'm considering CX-30 because I don't really need more cargo/rear seat space. Plus CX-30 imo has better infotainment and comes with remote start. But the CX-5 drove better. So I'm now confused between the two. Which one you ended up buying?
@@PrincessUSP I actually havent gotten a new car yet but 100% def going with the CX30 when the turbo version comes out because the interior is so much nicer and I dont like driving what everybody else has (Cx5) lol and the 3rd time I test drove it, the ride was very similar to CX5 and I’m sure the turbo +hp will def make up for everything with me.
It is easy to adjust to, and real easy to use. There are a few things I don’t like about it, like changing radio stations. All in all it’s good, and no problem without a touchscreen.

Hi Jonathan, How well does infant car seating fit in the CX-30? I am about 5’6 and was wondering if it would be too tight for an infant car seat. I’ve seen that boosters and forward facing car seats fit Ok.
Shouldn't heated side mirrors be standard? Hope to see an extra usb port in the rear of the CX30 in 2021. I love this vehicle. Time to trade the Kia :)
Heated side mirrors are apparently deemed a necessary option in countries other than the US. I’m sure more USBs will continue to be added in the coming years.

I would strongly recommend not buying a Mazda. We purchased a brand new Mazda CX9 and within 2 years had problems with a rough idle. Was told after second year it just needed new spark plug wires. Dealer could never recreate rough idle. 4 years later we took it in for an oil change and was told the cylinder head was leaking coolant.....Cylinder heads on back order for two months due to known problem of leaking. the only solution was either a refurbished engine or New engine from dealer.
