      I think so too as long as the prices aren't too bad. Look at what Troy industries is doing with it's reproduction AR's. Maybe S&W can donate to some of the proceeds to charity.

    CHP started issuing the 4006 .40 in 1991 and had them pretty much standard issue by the 1992 L.A riots. They carried the 4006 from 1991-2006 and went to the TSW in 2006 and still carry them in 2017 but an M&P .40 switch is imminent.

    I miss when Smith and Wesson made steel autoloaders (not including the SW1911). To me they're one of the best looking guns of all time. I'd say they ought to start making them again in 9mm, .40, and .45.

  • @Lee-rq1ek
    @Lee-rq1ek 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    The law enforcement agency I retired from has never issued firearms probably because of a cost issue. Now, they require officers to purchase from an approved list in .40 and .45 ACP.
    For the final 13 years of my career I carried a S&W Model 411 with the eleven round magazines in .40 S&W of the value line. I have never had a failure to feed to failure to eject since purchasing the handgun in August of 1995. The third generation S&W handguns are some of the finest handguns Smith and Wesson ever made.

    Great review! I just bought this exact model from an individual yesterday. He showed it to me several months ago along with a SIG P229 40, and a S&W 5906 which I traded a stainless Ruger Speed Six (sans warning stamp on the barrel) for at the time. I was really torn between the 4006 and 5906 and felt like I should've gotten the 4006 instead, so I called the guy back and he said he’d hold it for me. I watched this review as well as one on Military Arms Channel countless times and decided that I had to have it. It is a BEAST! Fortunately we have open carry in Texas so it’s no big deal if it shows or prints, but weighing 40 ounces it doesn’t take much to become an unwilling sagger if your belt isn’t tight. Well, thanks for the great review, it really helped me make a good decision. Thumbs way up!

    Great pistol, however, I don't know why Sootch00 or MAC don't mention that the CHP 4006 spec deletes the trigger play spring that results in a terrible SA trigger that wobbles, is very notchy and feels like something is broken. Mine felt so bad I ordered the parts to install. Would be desirable to know in a review.

    Thanks for doing this review on the S&W. My dad owned one and now I have it and it scares the crap outta me everytime I shoot. The recoil feels like the vibration from an aluminum baseball bat! From what you said in the video, he has the black piece screwed into the bottom of the rail. So I guess its an original. But the serial isn't CHP. Its VJB, I don't know what that means. Also I can only load 10 rounds and he had 2 magazines. Im still learning how to use this gun and im glad I found your video. Again, it scares the shit outta me.

    Got a 5906, amazing previous owner sold it to me pristine, with barely used 9 (nine!) mags.
    Also a 4506, which I chose to buy a new barrel for, because previous owner wasn't so amazing and honestly don't know what he tried to do by sawing off some material from the lug area.
    Got a 1006 this Christmas, two mags, had barely been fired, another jewel.
    Been looking for years for a 4006 to no avail, and oh, look, I open up YT aaaaand... ta daaa... _you reaalllly, reallly_ know where to stick your finger, YT algorithm, don't cha? haha!!

    At 8:55 you said there are a ton of sights to replace these. I can't seem to find them. Also, there is a spring underneath that rear sight.
    Any contacts, because mine shoots low. I need an adjustable sight. Thank you!!!

    I have the G-decocker on my M9. All my friends have 92FS's, exept one who also has a M9. They tease me about the decocker only function saying that my saftey is broken. I don't care, I wouldn't even use the damn thing without the G-decocker. So I guess I have a M9G technically.

    Anyone that actually believes 9MM is just as capable as .40 S&W needs to go watch Paul Harrell's "9MM vs. .40 S&W Police handguns" video. All the confidence you had in 9MM will go straight out the window.

    Does Any One have a suggestion of a pistol for $300-$350that would be worth looking into for 9mm. My SD9VE busted literally after less than a year. After it gets back from Smith I am selling it as I don't trust it anymore. Keep in mind that I am college student so saving more money than that is not very possible at the moment. I only have my Ruger LCP but as winter approaches would prefer to get a 9mm again. Thanks to anybody who suggests.

    What characteristic made it an UNAPPROVED pistol in California?? I have several of these pistols, they are great pistols, would not swap one of these for 10 Glocks. BB

    AHHHHHH! I hate you Sootch! I saw these for sale last week on the site because someone pointed me that way and they were sold out! I've been trying like hell to find a good 4006 or 5906 that isn't priced stupid high. Lucky find man, and for a PD trade in it looks great, hope you keep it.

    I personally love 40 S&W despite the fact that 9mm has better loading; ... because modern loading not only applies to 9mm but other calibers as well. It just seems like law enforcement is not learning from there mistakes in Miami Florida 1986.

    I don't know what you mean by your statement that they aren't legal in CA. Are you refering to the police buy back pistols or 4006 in general. I have a 4006 and it is totally legal in CA. It's a very smooth operating double action with a great trigger pull. The standard issue CHP model 4006 had an adjustable rear sight for windage and elevation. It had side wings on the rear sight. The one I purchased brand new from a gun shop only had the fixed sight. S&W would fit my slide with an adjustable sight if I were to send it in. The CHP would sell the duty gun to the officer when he/she retired for full retale price which was in my opinion CS.

    I'll be completely honest, that looks like somebody shoved a 1911 slide into a Sig p226 frame. It's fucking beautiful.

    The 4046 model of this gun, made for brinks, is double action only.
    It's tough to get a smooth trigger pull without dragging your sights off Target.
    Wish there was an easy way to get mine to a SA/DA.

    If you can put the 5906 magazine in side the 4006 frame .can you place the 5906 barrel inside the 4005 slide?
    If so, can it then be fired?

    The actual serial number starts with CHPXXXX. The “E” number is the numbers from the serial number and was a control to keep the slide, barrel, and frame from each gun together according to CHP armorers.

    I think that is so funny the CHP trade there guns in then they get sold and $15 from everyone sold goes to fight laws against 2A. I bet that just chaps Californias ass.😂😂😂

  • @tombowers2020
    @tombowers2020 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Citizens in CA get screwed - the pistol is good enough for the CHP, but for citizens, it’s deemed unsafe. Cops get 11 rounds, citizens get 10. What is the logic?
