  • Today's video is all about how to make your own DIY Alabama or umbrella rigs that look professional, but are super cheap to build! I wanted to make some Alabama and Umbrella rigs for fishing, but didn't want to pay a lot for them. So I came up with a design that allows me to make my own DIY poured lead Alabama and umbrella rigs for under $2 a piece. In this video I'll take you through the whole process step by step and show you just how easy it is! Thanks for watching and God bless!

Hi Dave, I’m not sure if there is another way to contact you or not, so I’m leaving a comment on this video. I’m in the process of setting up my boat and I like the way you have done yours. As far as your floors, how did you support them underneath and are they anchored/screwed down? I’m referring to your camo fishing/hunting boat. Thanks!

For the floors I cut a piece of 1/2" pressure treated plywood 30" wide and just long enough so that I could get it in and out from under the seats. Then I laid the plywood in the bottom of the boat and slid it forward to touch the seat support. Then I put a pencil mark on the seat support towards the middle where the top of the plywood was. Then I removed the plywood and measured down to the hull from the pencil mark and subtracted 1/2" for the plywood. Whatever that measurement was that was left I cut a piece of pressure treated 2x lumber that thickness. I centered it on the plywood and screwed the plywood to the blocking. Then I carpeted the plywood and dropped it into place. The edges of the plywood is supported by the ribs that run across the boat and the blocking supports it in the center. This also allows a space where any water that gets in can drain to the back of the boat for discharge and keeps your feet dry as well. There is no need to screw it down and it is easily removed for cleaning underneath, yet very sturdy to stand on. The seat and platform tops I did a little differently so I you need help with those just let me know. I hope that helps and I'm sure your boat build will turn out great! Thanks for watching and God bless!

@@thefrugalsportsman Great, thanks Dave. I was contemplating something similar, so knowing that’s how you did yours helps make up my mind. The bow platform I’m still trying to decide what to do, as I don’t have a small bow seat to use as a support in the very front the the bow. God bless you also...
