Thanks for going Thur the video with each part . Most guys rush Thur and you end up stuck if it's your first time repairing. Us woman appreciated it .😂😊
Will I’ll be darn if I can figure out exactly how to get that released from the ignition. Accessory for me is forward my key does not turn backwards and the second I pop that loose it turns the key back into the lock position…so what do you suggest?
Mine i had to turn really hard and it got into accessory, before i got it to do i didnt even know it was there afterwards now its smooth to turn back but first time i did it was really hard, give it a hard twist should work
2002 chevy silverado steering column shift mechanism replacement To remove black cable from ignition column. After removing ignition cylinder. Look inside Chamber and at the very back you have to turn the back mechanism with a tool ( I used pliers) them the top of the cable come out.
@4QFiles Hey, would you happen to know the finer details of how that inner ignition chamber part (ignition actuator I think) and that black cable? My 01 silverado I cannot get the actuator to turn beyond ACC. It's fine from off to ACC but won't turn further. Went to replace the cylinder thinking that's where the issue was and somehow I pulled it out without turning it to the on position to line up with the release hole and now I can't get the new one in due to the actuator not turning to acc. I'm wondering after watching this is does that cable function as an ignition actuator lock in certain corresponding gear selector-ignition key positions
My 2000 S 10:45 ilverado will shift into gear but will not return. Shift lever has no resistance and is floppy! I can manually shift at the transmission end of the cable. Was this your same symptom?
2001 2500 Not sure of the problem I have to drop the shifter into 1 or 2 then back up to the d position if i don't do this it won't shift into overdrive and everything works fine.... is what you are talking about the issue or a bad shifter cable??
I think there are some differences because the newer ones don't have accessory in the key back position...it's one notch forward.... however my 2005 also lists this Dorman 905120 as the correct part. Did you end up repairing yours? I've got to do mine soon... sometimes it's not all the way in park so I've started using the parking brake. Could be bad if someone moves my truck on a construction site.
maybe someone can help , my 02 sierra will shift into PRND fine ,only if i have my brake pedal to the floor if i have it about 75% to the floor it will shift into D but will stay in 1st gear unless i turn the truck off and hit the brake all the way to the ground
Thanks for the heads up on shaving the new end off with knife.that was my only issue.thanks again man!

good video
What was the problem you were having?
Mine just broke it was stuck.
Great information. Thank you. I didn't know this. I thought it needed the brake pedal to work !!!

I just want to know where did you get the spring for the shift return
Do you have to buy it from Chevy dealer or can I go to like O'Reilly's?

Cable Adjustment
You mention you sell the shifter part
Mine is stuck out of park would this fix my issue ????
Yeah nah, black cable when being pulled out ,the sqitch on the keyyl turns.
Yo same on mine it pulls it back. Did you figure it out
Take you key cylinder out ones it’s out use a flat head to insert in cylinder and turn back all the way towards you this will release the cable
My truck won’t go into park or reverse then I kept messing with it and it finally went into park any ideas?
How you get the clip in?
I have a 2005 Chevy Silverado 1500 4x4 and mine is no way close of looking like that, my shift interlock Solenoid
