Its unfortunate. Everything that Vegas was known for has disappeared. The whole idea of free drinks was to loosen people to play more, spend more. Also it was a way for people who have spent a fortune to visit, could feel like there were getting something back. With the cost of hotels, resort fees, parking fees, drinks, Its less money spent at the tables. I remember when casinos made you feel like a guest. Now its all about getting every dime they can get out of you. Vegas has lost its appeal!
gh5b Could not agree more.. I really disliked my stay in January.. Parking fees.. 9$ Bud light 13$ well stock bloody mary.. no garnish. 10$ to take money at any Casino now.. 10$ just to take money out to gamble. Resort fees are hidden and not explained well. Staff was luke warm at best. People smoking weed everywhere. inside the hotel, outside the hotel. Over priced everything. the Uber drivers even, rip you off. Its like A millionaires Rip Off special now.. The Casinos where Empty when i went and not suprised. I will not be spending my Vacations here.. 20 better places easily
This is pathetic. Vegas isn't the only place to gamble and with more and more states legalizing gaming, there will be other options for people. Online, I don't trust it but Live Dealer games (not computer RNG) are becoming another option as well. Finally, how many multi-millions in profit do these casinos make year after year? The only reason they go out of business is borrowing too much (holding too much commercial paper in debt) and bad management - like this, for example. Vegas has become more and more of a joke year after year. CSM's, 6:5 blackjack, bad games, etc. also.
Jason Borne They just Legalized sports betting all over.. Vegas is actually the worst place to gamble. They think that the legalizing of weed and conventions will hold the city up. unfortunately the stupid fees, and rip offs on every single item at every turn is too much for me. im,done ✔
Glad I'm old. This country is falling apart. I remember when I was 15 or 16 hitting the casinos after skiing all day and enjoying some free drinks while at the machines relaxing. Young people today have NO idea how much more freedom we had 50 years ago.
@Keaton Vincent Weird why did you and the person you replied to join the same day like a week ago. Reeks like a scam to me probably trying to steal peoples instas after they put in their info.
@@matthew7693 They are scammers. They've evolved from leaving a shady link to having conversations on videos saying this like "This random thing worked. I made a million dollars." "Me too! So crazy!"
Your right about that. I'll never forget the young man who ran our bus tour explained that the new mafia running town was the Corporations. In my mind it is the same thing, because Corporations are The Mob who run the world. As you said, the corporations are less ethical than the mob. Crazy!!
The main reason to go to Vegas is to gamble let's be honest. Sure there are other attractions but gambling is what it's famous for and 90% of the people do it there. If you are actually gambling then the drinks will be free so i don't see what the big problem is, they are only doing it to stop people getting drinks for nothing which is wrong
They need to stop calling these free drinks. If you're gambling, then chances are you're losing money. If you're losing $5 a minute at the blackjack table, and it takes 10 minutes for the waitress to bring you a drink, then that "free" vodka tonic just cost you $50.
Thx Jacob for sharing this info! Keep up the great work 👍🏼! 1st of all I read a few comments from your followers & Sammy stated they aren't "free" cuz after spending $5 a pop at the Black Jack table every hand & getting a drink 🥃 every 15mins, it cost her $50 for a drink! There for they r definitely NOT "free"! So in response to Sammy & U, EVERY 15MINS?!😱 Where is this happening in Vegas? My hubby & I have been going to Vegas at least once a year for the past 10+ years. We have stayed at every casino from the Sahara😄,Imperial, (I know they don't even exist anymore!), Monte Carlo, Luxor, Mandalay Bay to the Aria & have gambled in every other casino on the strip! We have only ONCE received our 🍹🍺🍷🍸🥃in less than 15mins & that was last year at the Bellagio! Unfortunately it was the 1st time we had ever been in that hotel/casino! I'm so bummed we waited so long to go in there! We had such great service, I started joking with the waitress that she was spending more time with my husband than I do! 🤣 I don't think they ever had enough staff for good customer service at any of these casinos! I'm kinda excited about the new way of ordering drinks! We r NOT high rollers nor are we rolling in cash 💰 & I felt like we were not getting our money's worth of drinks, especially cuz the glasses they serve them in are no larger than a shot glass & they fill it with ice! 2nd point- people need to realized NOTHING in this world is FREE! Thx again, Jacob!😉
Nothing is really free in Las Vegas. If you're at the machine putting hundreds of dollars in there and a waitress comes by to give you an occasional drink. People still think that is free. You are paying for the drinks and have anyone seen the size of those supposed free drinks that are given to gamblers? You can finish it in one sip. It's mainly ice.
The Devil's Advocate really sad part is the hot waitresses 20+ years ago are the same ones who are serving drinks now. Most of the dealers weren’t stone faced Asians who can’t speak English. Cigs were comped like tic tacs
Bert Cuevas 10$ Atm Fees Just to take money out. Resort fees, Parking fees, 8% Tax on every purchase of anything. There is no such, thing as service anymore in Vegas. It has become a Global Cold, expensive visit.. used to ve fun. Not anymore ill be skipping vegas
Michael Bauer Detroit has 4 Casinos everything,is free and clean and cheep. no resort fees nothing. same in every city in Ohio now also.. Vegas is done
Michael Bauer totally agree mike. I don’t know why I would want to go back. Nothing was special. Fun. Worth it or anything. I don’t mean to be a downer but it truly wasn’t good
The Vegas I remember from the 1980's was a lot more fun. You were treated like a king and wanted to come back. Then the accountants took over and now they they want to pick your pocket of every dollar you have.
Just went to Vegas on Memorial Day weekend. Had to pay for parking at every hotel and casino I went to. Absolutely ridiculous. Not the Vegas I grew up with, and I'm still in my early 30's!
Me too. Went when I was 21 back in 2005, then went again a few months ago, totally different. Problem is everything is too corporate. I bet it was way better back in the mob days, now it's just Disney world for grown ups.
A sober gambler, gambles less. I might as well drive to the casinos a couple hours away. I don’t care too much for shows and shopping. And I can eat anywhere. What’s the draw?
Dee TwentyOne there has to be a thorough investigation before they can release any footage like that. It’s like that with all investigations, especially in this caliber. I’m not sure what has everyone fascinated about the footage. What are you looking for? A conspiracy theory? He brought his weapons up over a period of days/weeks and had the means and VIP reputation to do so without raising any eyebrows. Stop looking for something that’s not there.
Keith, I've been to Vegas casinos, they knew the moment I snuck a bottle of Bacardi into my room, and you're gonna tell me this bullshit on a bun? This shooting is a straight up inside job, but since you believe what your TV told you, I'm just gonna leave it at that.
Just stayed at the cosmopolitan in a suite with a big long terrace with a view of the fountain. We bring a small 20$ coffee pot whenever we go to vegas and it hasn’t broken in 3 trips (flights) so far. Then we hit walgreens to get food supplies like snacks, coffee, creamer, beer, chips, etc..i spend maybe $500-$600 on the casino floor. I have never ever been asked to pay for a drink there but like a good Canadian, I TIP. Usually five bucks each time. The server in my area comes by more frequently, as a result. It’s like an unspoken agreement and mutual respect. As with our rooms, i expect a good job of cleaning and replacing items like ice bags for the ice bucket. I need my ice at night, man! I try to tip the housekeepers well and have chased them down the hall because i forgot to tip them. And again, we have respect for their thankless job and often will get a few extras as a result (not that we expect them) The valet guy at the taxis will get you a taxi faster if you pass him a Fiver over say...a dollar? If guests would just be NICE and POLITE and not demanding, hotel staff appreciate that and are more willing to bend over “backwards” to assist you. But we’re not a couple of suckers, either. I’m in Psychology and hubby is in Federal corrections so we’ve seen the games people play. My one bit of advice to ANYone going to Las Vegas is to budget your trip to include tips. If you cant afford to tip, then you cant afford to go. Money for tipping is not an option. Oh! And ride sharing (Uber) is soo cheap. Hubby likes to explore so buys himself a 3 day bus pass and either takes the milk run or the express one that only stops at major hotels on the strip. Turns out our trip last November was pretty cheap. Considering we were willing to spend more. We don’t eat out every night either. Too tired or just sick of rich restaurant food. Big green salads are a nice break, so our food expenses aren’t very high and again we budget for eating out more often than we actually do. I shop at the outlets and hubby golfs (a lot). So besides saving for a pricey trip, we always have a great time. Naturally, we would not make our once or twice yearly trips to Vegas if our income wouldn’t allow it. It is not a cheap camping trip for sure!
Another great video -- I'm a table player (poker, blackjack and craps), so it won't affect me (anyways - I usually get 2 to 3 waters for every alcoholic drink anyways). When my parents went to Vegas - my mom (who was not bashful asking for comps) used to get dinners comped while she played low-level poker and low level blackjack. That was also the time where the pit had vast control on who gets comped and who doesn't. Now, it's all hooked up to the players card. AND yes - (she was a good tipper), good tippers usually got taken care of. Now - it's all monitored. My mom always said - Vegas was better when the mob ran it. lol
Mob cared about great customer service while these massive properties don't give a fuck. It's 100% about the bottom line and not about making the customers happy
Mahalo, Vegas is the ninth island for us, our two girls live in Vegas. We take trips to visit our girls and grand-babies, my husband loves the Alicante resort up north Las Vegas so we will be so once again. Thanks for the heads up!!!!
Jack Angel The 4 queens! I rarely had an empty cup in my hand and i wasn't there for more than an hour. I tipped 3-5 dollars and they were very nice to me.
This will be a big deal for gamblers. When I first sit down at the blackjack table or automated craps game, I want a beer NOW. I don't want to have to wait til I tally up enough points or whatever til I get the green light.
What stopped me from coming to Vegas is the Hotel service charge. Why don't they simply give a price per room sans this use of pool wifi and whatever charge. Often near the price of the room. Crap
its the new nickel and dime culture in vegas. Make you pay everything to have the luxury to give them more money in a casino. Truly morons go to vegas now
our school system the largest in the nation, I think some other of our taxes are subsidized by the casinos. They are making you pay for it. For us. We do not pay income tax because visitors pay it for us. Just sayin, its why fees are going up, standard thought here is the visitor pays it all for us.
I always thought the complementary drinks were because the more drunk you are the less cautious you will be about throwing away money at a slot machine
No offense but i just think that is BS. That way of thinking was spread by people who lose big. They lose all their money at the tables or they spend god knows how much in a strip club on a company credit card. Then instead of just taking responsibility or just paying what they owe, they will try to sue the casino or the club claiming "they got me drunk".
@fightsports66 - It's not BS though. That's the exact reason why they did comp drinks and other comp services. The more you drink and get comfortable the more you're will to spend. They make more money off of everyday joe's than rich folk.
Total BS, I will pay in the Caribbean & on Cruises, I don't need the $1,000 FC airfare for Vegas: resort Fees, Parking Fees, High Priced Rooms, Meals, Poor Comps, Bad Games, etc., etc., etc.
Exactly I was thinking the same thing. You pay for airfare to get there, high hotel rates with resort fees and some even want a deposit. You have to have money to eat, shop and see shows, O and lets not forget transportation and you can't even get a lousy free drink! Seriously!
Caribbean cruises are not much better you have to pay for soda and any drinks most of the restaurants cost money know and there are a ton of fees on cruises to
Iv'e noticed they cut down on drink waitresses at all the casinos and you have no choice but to get up and go pay for a drink. I am a gambler and 75% of the time i just walk up and get my own beer because I can never find a waitress.
Agreed. Went not long ago and we only had 2 waitresses on strip casinos come up to us despite HOURS of gambling. I will say they stopped by a lot more at Fremont casinos.
This makes me curious about this monitoring system. You are right, it is a real pain in the butt to try to flag down a waitress. However unless i misunderstood the video it sounds like if you gamble a certain amount at a machine a waitress will automically come over and ask if you want anything.
When I was there 8 years ago, casinos appeared to be cutting back significantly on free drinks on the floor already. It certainly wasn't like I was told by all my family and friends who were much more regular visitors. When booze was a cheap commodity, it made sense to GET people drunk in order to loosen the purse strings. Your video has convinced me that they have figured out exactly how much is lost or gained by the practice. I'm pretty sure they can calculate that down the single dollar.
We used to go 3 times a year.., now once every 2 years or so. Way to expensive and traffic is worse than los angeles. I need a place to relax and have a great time, Vegas doesn't provide that anymore. Last time we were there we got nickel and dimed so much there wasn't anything left for the slot machines.
I miss the old Vegas now they act like they know who I am , i used go there twice sometimes 3 times a year and always tipped extremely well and service just keeps getting worse and worse
I agree..all this brouhaha's for the cheapskates; also, if you have your tip ready once they arrive they'll love you even more. I see a lot of people fumbling through their bag/wallet/pocket when their drink arrive, and that's just annoying..for me; can you imagine what the cocktail waitress' are thinking//
I always tip the server for a "free" drink. Seems like Las Vegas has forgotten the meaning of hospitality. *"The drinks are free, but the service is not."*
I came back from Vegas Sunday and I’m telling you it took forever to get a drink at the mgm and Excalibur. I spent a lot of money and won some back but the drink service was wack. Mgm when I finally got my 🍹 🍷 it was so strong I had to put it down lol
By the time I sit down at a machine and a waitress/er orders my drink and returns, conservatively I drown 20-30$ into the machine easy. I used to think getting free drinks in Vegas was free, but after I spend 30$ and a 2$ tip for the server, it gets a bit expensive. DON'T GAMBLE KIDS.
My buddy's and I generally go there 2 - 3 times a year because it was a fairly inexpensive guys trip for 3-4 days, including airfare and hotel. But now we have noticed a steep increase in prices overall and less frequent passes to shows, restaurants, upgrades, etc..
Who’s “freeloading”??? If someone has the foresight to sit down at a machine and play a few hands for a free drink what’s wrong with that? For every “freeloader” there are 2 or 3 people who don’t know the system who will pay $8 for a beer that costs 50c, and even hang around the bar for a few minutes. I already pay for my transportation and loging, I’ll be dammed if I stay in a casino that putts a BS computer program deciding whether or not I can have drinks Thx for the video!!!
I just came from LV. Surprised that all parking now costs! Before you could park anywhere and in any casino. I find that disappointing as we go and leave our money in the slots and still we get charged for parking (and it is not cheap!)
I was a slot tech at one of the Indian casinos here in San Diego, and of course we charged for alcohol, whether gaming floor, restaurant or bar. So- my fiancee and I went to Laughlin for a weekend away. Vegas Light, as I see them. Anyway, we were sitting at a machine (I was watching all the minor error codes pop up) when a waitress asked me what we wanted. We ordered, and the waitress came back a few later. I asked what do I owe, and her reply was "Sir, we aren't an Indian casino. We don't charge for drinks." I think it was a 10.00 bill I placed on her tray with a big grin on my face.
Even when I'm playing I can barely get a drink, when I do come I lost my money and they tell me I'm not playing so I can't have a drink I rather pay but I shouldn't pay bar prices
Chris, that was my argument too, the resort fee and front desk informed me whether I used the resort or not, I will still be charged and it's not a one time charge. Too much really.
we were in vegas 3 weeks ago regularly gambling through each casino on the strip for days and there were literally no waitresses on any casino floor besides mandalay bay, luxor, paris, and the venetian.
Looks like vegas is determined to drive customers away. I was last there in 2007. It sounds like vegas has instituted multiple new tactics to separate folks from their money with parking & resort fees etc. I question whether i am motivated to return?
The Westgate used to be the Las Vegas Hilton. In the mid 90's they started cutting back on free drinks. In the old days you could get free drinks just by being in the Sports Book. They started asking for proof of bet tickets. Then they started handing out drink tickets based on amount wagered. You're late to the casinos cutting out free drinks by 20 years.
Depends on the generation that says vegas is not the same. My Dad says vegas was great in the early 60's. You needed a coat to enter the casino and were treated well. Now...jeez, shorts and flip flops.
I've started going to Laughlin instead of Vegas because they still have free parking and minimal resort fees. But if the resort fees continue to go up.....I'll move on to the next option. Indian casinos.
Ditto.. I usually tip the wait staff whatever I would have had to pay for the drink (it also gets them to check on you too) win-win situation , less income for the workers more for the owners.. Of course
mz X CDL I actually tried to tip $10 to a cocktail waitress before and she said it was too much. I was quite surprised, maybe she felt that she was getting enough that night? No idea but it really surprised me lol
one of the reasons they raised the minimum on table games is so more people will go to the machines not the tables then they can have less dealers and pit bosses.
I deal in Las Vegas and most of us dealers are real. If you are losing we really don't expect a tip. If you win a lot and are enjoying yourself hey kick a buck every now and then. It adds up so much more if just a few more people would actually tip.
we had an amazing time with free drinks coming in left and right back in april at the mirage. We spent a week gambling and going to shows once a night, didnt even spend $5k with hotel and airfare. We really cant wait to go back.
Cesar’s/Harrahs in Atlantic City started adding the “drink screens” on the new floor slots in 2015. You must have a players card inserted into the machine for tracking purposes. While I have not seen a “time restriction”, by the time you receive the first drink, even if you order a second one right away it takes 15-20 mins. If I’m on the floor, I actually prefer using the screen because you don’t have to flag down a waitress and I can select the exact beer/mixed drink/premium/shot. If I’m playing video poker at the bar I do still want the interaction with a bartender.
Never been in a casino in Vegas, Lake Charles or AC that when I was not playing I was offered a drink. If you are playing, you get approached, Standing around and not playing, they avoid you like the plague. That's the universal truth.
the waitress is bringing YOU a drink! Tip her..period!! if you dont want to tip..get your butt off of the chair and WALK to the bar to get a drink..these servers dont make the rules..they are trying to make a living just like everybody else
@@curth5158 exactly I do room service here in Vegas ans damn it bothers me people order 150 plus took service and don't tip If u aimt gonna tip and order room service get your ass up and pick it up
I went to Vegas last year to write a jewelry piece, and I absolutely loved it. But the only thing that made me love it entirely was that I stayed at Wynn. Now when I stayed at Wynn, I had the greatest service and experience one could ever have. Now it was my first time in Vegas, but in doing my own evaluation of places owned by MGM and Caesars, I commit that Wynn was the best, no question. And yes, I did get to sit on the casino floor for a few moments and even after setting into my slot machine, I had a waitress come to me automatically, and quick, without even asking for it or expecting it. I got a couple drinks in as I was playing. Bottom line is, it could very with each casino I think as far as drink monitoring’s concern. But if Wynn keeps up its 5 star service, caring about their customers entirely, and not sacrifice that philosophy whatsoever even after ousting Steve Wynn himself, I’ll keep going back there:
Wow Las Vegas is going to lose its essence as the fun city smh 🤦♂️ greedy. Why is it considered free loading but you paid to play games and hotel? ....corny
hermusicsoundsgood like he said, how much are you ACTUALLY playing? $100 is a big difference than $10. Especially if all you are after is "free drinks" and not tip the cocktail server, I say good, do it. People have jobs to do and must get paid for.
hermusicsoundsgood I think their talking about people who live there or even homeless people who go in with 10 or 20 dollars and get drunk before spending the 10 or 20 dollars...
Another issue: many casinos have cut out free parking for patrons. Years back if you were staying at a certain hotel on the strip you got complimentary parking. Only visitors to the hotel/casino had to pay for parking. Now even people staying in those particular hotels and casinos have to pay on a daily basis (It was $10 a day last year at the Flamingo). The drink situation and the parking situation all relate to the fact that the casinos aren't making the same $$$$ as they were years past. Alot of people don't have the excess finances to gamble as they did ten-fifteen years ago. Times have changed.
Not sure why so many people go to Vegas…. So many other places that have much better value. I would never go back to Vegas unless they made some major changes with the resort fees, etc.
Was just in Vegas and never had a problem getting a cocktail. I think it is more so people who do NOT tip the waitresses. They will purposely avoid you (with good reason), but if you throw a $5 per round, they will seek you out for more drinks.
nothing563019 I don't go to Vegas to play anything ..I just go sightseeing and eat food and drink water ..maybe catch a show and walk around and people watch and take pics. ;)
They been doing this in Atlantic city for years, regular players still get free drinks or greatly reduced price drinks (ex. Beers are free mixed drinks with top shelf liquors, $2 bucks) as soon as you put your players card in , it has already tracked your pass playing habits and even your favorite drink offers. 🍹🍹🍸🍷🥂🍻 you hit the screen to place your order ,then it tracks when the order is placed and when your drink is on the way.
In Canada - casinos are not allowed to comp alcohol. Excellent policy - alcohol is a drug that affects everybody different. Vegas relies on getting people drunk and watching them lose too much money.
I'm 28 and expressed interest to friends about going to Vegas and those who've gone said that it's gotten so expensive, you'll lose more money just getting to a casino before you even place a bet or play a single slot. Personally, I would have preferred to have visited Vegas 20 years ago. Now, it seems so outrageously expensive it's out of reach for your average tourist.
Well that won’t bother me! I don’t go to Vegas to sit and gamble! I just got back from Vegas April 2018 and we walk the strip, soak up at the pool, and go out to eat!!! I love Las Vegas Baby!!! If you want to get a dam serious good buzz do what I did....go to Fat Tuesday’s Daiquiri Bar in The Luxor mall area and I ordered the Hurricane with 2 extra shots. Every morning I refilled my Fat Tuesday mug and it gets you loaded!! Fun fun fun times!! I can’t wait to come back spring 2019. We go every year!!!!
I didn't know there was a Fat Tuesday's at the Luxor! I've barely even been in the place. Time to check it out. And Diablo's is there now too. Thank You Tara!
Is it even worth it now to go to Vegas? First of all you got to get a flight (unless you're within driving distance). Pay for a hotel, pay to park and now pay for drinks. I think this is my last trip to Vegas. Will frequent my local casinos within driving distance. Vegas not worth it anymore.
So the theory about someone taking up a seat...well I just got back from Vegas and uh...none of the casinos are packed to capacity. I admit...I am a "freeloader" (LoL), I go and play slots right around the time I want a drink...sometimes I lose a good $20 but most times I actually win more than I play...but honestly, are there THAT many freeloaders to take away the perk of complimentary drinks? First free parking at the casinos are disappearing and now this :-(
But I'm not sure if that is true...every time I go to vegas I do not see people just hanging out in casinos doing nothing but drinking free drinks...I see people spending and even BUYING drinks. Even as I sit by a machine to get a drink...I am still feeding the slot machines.
yeah, these idiots wanna kill the goose that laid them the golden egg. I don't care so much about the drinks, but other things such as food, "resort fees" parking, worse paying games etc... When it comes to greed, too much is never enough. Typical.
The drinks were never free for me because I always gave the waitresses a small tip. The activity/resort fee and the parking fee is what gets me. Some people come to the casino to meet friends for dinner. Now they have to pay to park? U can probably park for free if you rent the vehicle in the casino but of course that's not the cheapest place to rent. And the resort fee. Wtf is that for?
The Vegas Paradise I live here and you are excacly right. Lol. I tell people all the time, if you don't have enough money to enjoy yourself, and you bitching about the cost, don't come, because it's not how it use to be. Vegas is for the rich, not for your average working people that just want to get away for a few days.
The Vegas Paradise why? Having the Raiders here as well as a professional hockey team and we still get the rodeo is only going to bring income into the city... So we're going to have two professional teams with two different sports the national rodeo we still have the adult films Convention as well as CES and Technology convention. So this is just fucking greed we start charging people for parking and yet we won't finish the monorail system I say it like that because I live here. I heard a rumor that they're going to start a basic nonstop service from Maryland Parkway South Maryland Parkway where I live all the way up to downtown they don't know if it's going to be a bus or a monorail or what but it's going to move people right to downtown and then from downtown you can go to the strip. A big part of probably what's going on is push back against Lyft and Uber the cab drivers weren't happy about it and the strip bus has always been more expensive than a standard bus ticket. If you go off of the strip and you get a 24-hour bus ticket it's like $3 less or $4 less and you can use that ticket on the Strip because they don't know who a local is and who isn't. Don't buy anything on the Strip besides that if you're smart go a little ways off the strip get yourself a bottle of something that you enjoy and just get a flask and go up and down the strip with a flask or two.
Every major casino has slot machines that track how much money you pour into the machine. The waitress makes a lap around her section and will take anyone’s order you could walk up and even ask for a drink, just wait in the general area. If you are playing a specific length of time, the waitress will automatically walk over to you and you will be served first. If you push random buttons on the slot machine without putting money in than it activates a cool down mode where the waitress will avoid your area entirely.
So Now...NO free parking, Resort Fee, Qualifying for Drinks....wow. We have quit going with the high "Resort" fee of which we only get "FREE" Wifi out of it....so Sad..
I love Vegas and still find it cheaper than a lot of vacations. $59.00 to fly each way. rooms are relativity cheap even with the resort fees. If you stay at Flamingo or mid range hotels. You could go cheaper and stay at Excalibur or the Rio. All depends on how you budget and how you want to spend your $$$. You can eat cheap too if you want but for me, they have some of the best restaurants anywhere and the food is one of the great treats. That and the shows. You kind of get what you pay for. Plus when i overspend, i just move it to Fremont Street and it is cheap there and lots of fun. I don't think any other gambling city can boast such good food and entertainment as LV.
also i remember in the 90s that the casinos didn't allow you to take pictures inside the casino, but when i was there last year, no one stopped me from taking pictures inside the casinos.
Interesting stuff as usual. I was sitting at video poker counter top bar. I saw it. Someone put a voucher in but hadn’t played yet. Asked for drink & bartender said make that light go green b4 I can give u a drink. Harrahs.
Heath Williams yea. I guess 94% of the people looking for free drinks. I guess he could have asked if u wanted to pay for it. I think u have to put about $6-10 thru it to turn light green. Not sure on that tho.
Im pretty sure he doesn’t wanna charge you because you were playing.. but it’s usually $20 to buy in, you don’t need to play the whole $20 to get your first drink but good enough play to get your light turn green! I’m a cocktail waitress And I’ve seen it all the time.. people get pissed off for putting $5 in and asking for their drink to be comp .. but of course it’s the bartender responsibility to ask and let the guest knows what’s the company’s rules.
Heath Williams Hmmmmm, I bet you that waitress got in trouble for that. A tip is money in the employees pocket- the liquor they "give away" is the casinos'.. So why should the casino liberally comp people drinks ? Comps is a reward system for customers, not free loaders. I know many petty greed with the waitress and bartenders and they get fired for that... It's called theft and embezzling.
I live here and honestly it's best to stay off the strip where the parking is free. The Orleans and a few other hotels will shuttle you to the strip for free. If you're not to picky about your room stay at the Mardi Gras hotel. It's right behind the Wynn and they shuttle to Ballys every hour. Hotels on the strip with free parking are The Tropicana, Treasure Island, Planet Hollywood, Venetian, Palazzo, and Circus Circus.
Last couple years I’ve noticed a steady decline in drink service. Certain times of night you have to argue with the pit boss to get a drink. It can take up to 45 minutes to get a blue moon while playing $25 min blackjack!
As someone who frequently vacations in Vegas the light system is not an issue. Most bartenders or cocktail waitresses will still comp your drinks as long as your not severely beating the system. While the light system is there its more of a guideline than actual hardest rules especially if you frequent the same bars, tables and machines over a couple days. Again, its about playing not losing. If you sit and play around five bucks on a machine you’ll get a free drink and most of the time due to the ups and downs of how machines pay out you’ll likely have 3 or 4 dollars out of your five still available for tips and such.
Vegas casinos could afford to give drinks away, charge almost nothing for food, comp rooms, etc etc back when people came here to gamble. They started charging for everything when people started coming here broke.
One difference is that the corporations must cover their overhead. The mobs were laundering money from their other rackets through the casinos so even after skimming there was plenty of money. That, and I doubt any mobster was as greedy as the average corporate executive.
Thanks for the update Jacob! Do you know or can look into what casinos' policy is on carrying, for example, a backpack cooler with our own drinks for ourselves into the casinos instead of relying on the casino for drinks?
In my experience the last couple years they don't bring drinks around to you if your not gambling anyway. Iv never been asked if i want a drink unless I'm actually gambling. Whenever I'm just sitting at a table watching they never asked me.
Really enjoy your videos. I don't have a problem with the monitoring system. I've seen a guy with 4 friends playing a penny a spin ordering 4 drinks and stiffing the server on a tip even.
We live in Vegas and when three of us are at the slots, one playing and the other two watching, we've had waitresses tell us almost all the time that we have to be playing (or at least sitting at a machine). Also, we tip well and we tip when we order the drinks so she comes back and she comes back more quickly. Anybody who doesn't even tip when it's a free drink is just an asshole. Let's be honest about this free drink thing though, they suck. They are really small and don't have much alcohol in them anyway.
My wife and I used to go to Vegas, two to three times a year. In her work, she traveled a lot and received cheap to free plane fare for her consistent travel. The casinos used to send us comps, to come back and stay for free. We were going when you still got tokens, that poured out of the machine, when you won. Then quickly they all changed to the paper computer slip. Boring! Then all the stupid penny video game like machines, you almost never know you have won something until, the machine tells you so. and a Penny machine is never ever a penny! More and more fees and we became less and less interested, until we quit going at all. IF we feel like going to a casino, we go to Tunica. We can drive there, still park for free, get drinks and not get caught up in the Vegas tourist trap. They still have those stupid penny machines there too!
Vegas has lost its appeal!
gh5b I couldn't have said it any better!! Agreed
gh5b Could not agree more..
CSM's, 6:5 blackjack, bad games, etc. also.
You nailed it!!!
So crazy!"
The Mob versus Corporations. The Mob ran a better joint and was more honest than the Corporations.
ExtrovertedCenobite true story!
Agree 100%.
this is true!! no more cheap eats...:(
Your right about that. I'll never forget the young man who ran our bus tour explained that the new mafia running town was the Corporations. In my mind it is the same thing, because Corporations are The Mob who run the world. As you said, the corporations are less ethical than the mob. Crazy!!
99 percent are now working for Corporation.
Las Vegas is slowly killing itself. I don't stay there anymore. Thanks for the video.
steven johnsrud Vegas is still great you whine asses
steven johnsrud I got Free drinks in Reno Tahoe.
We have stayed at every casino from the Sahara😄,Imperial,
(I know they don't even exist anymore!), Monte Carlo, Luxor, Mandalay Bay to the Aria & have gambled in every other casino on the strip! 🤣
I don't think they ever had enough staff for good customer service at any of these casinos!
Ok will say, “The drinks are included”. Vegas went from all inclusive to exclusive for the High Rollers. Oh well better things to spend money on.
Zion- I believe there's an expression about that. Something about suckers and how there's one born every minute.
Alex Summy Not really.... At least not from there stand point. It cost you 50 to gamble, not drink.
15 years ago Vegas was a great bargain now Not worth it.
2A Forever absolutely true.
So true . Old Vegas was awesome ! $2 steak dinner , free chic wings , $.50 shrimp cocktail and free parking .
no resort fees. good comps, dealer stands on all 17's 3-2 for blackjack.
All the waitresses were topless
The Devil's Advocate really sad part is the hot waitresses 20+ years ago are the same ones who are serving drinks now. Most of the dealers weren’t stone faced Asians who can’t speak English. Cigs were comped like tic tacs
Resorts fee, Paid Parking now no more free Drinks??? WTH Vegas
Colorado and Oklahoma casinos are cheaper , no resort fees and free parking!!!
Michael Bauer Detroit has 4 Casinos everything,is free and clean and cheep. no resort fees nothing. same in every city in Ohio now also.. Vegas is done
Uncle Chuckles I believe Vegas is finished too, people ain't gonna stand for it.
Michael Bauer totally agree mike. I don’t know why I would want to go back. Nothing was special. Fun. Worth it or anything. I don’t mean to be a downer but it truly wasn’t good
I tipped a waitress $10 for three triple jacks, she tracked us down all night until I paid her to stop bringing us drinks.
My advice. Find the older waitress and tip her 20 bucks. Play the penny machines and the drinks roll in.
Easy solution, just stop going. We have. Too much nickle and diming overall.
I bet it was way better back in the mob days, now it's just Disney world for grown ups.
not every casino station casinos are not charging for parking, southpoint is not charging, mresort isn't either on the strip yes
noneyo business, so you do pay for some things?
noneyo business, that comment was referencing your use of a double negative.
😄
GainesMediaInc and then add resort fee.
A sober gambler, gambles less.
I might as well drive to the casinos a couple hours away. I don’t care too much for shows and shopping. And I can eat anywhere. What’s the draw?
They can monitor every gamer but can’t give us a video of the Las Vegas shooter ? 🤷🏻♂️
Rick Lopez there was footage released of him taking his luggage into the hotel and such.
Keith I gotta look that up .thanx👍
Yeah Keith...released 6 months AFTER. Because that footage is not hollywood edited 😒
Just waiting for the entrance and bathroom fee.
nonya bizness I really believe entrance fee is on it's way lol
I miss the "real and authentic" Vegas! 😢😢😢
Tiltdecker totally agree
Another great video -- I'm a table player (poker, blackjack and craps), so it won't affect me (anyways - I usually get 2 to 3 waters for every alcoholic drink anyways). When my parents went to Vegas - my mom (who was not bashful asking for comps) used to get dinners comped while she played low-level poker and low level blackjack. That was also the time where the pit had vast control on who gets comped and who doesn't. Now, it's all hooked up to the players card. AND yes - (she was a good tipper), good tippers usually got taken care of. Now - it's all monitored. My mom always said - Vegas was better when the mob ran it. lol
That’s the way to play stay hydrated.
Ramon Sanchez Don't get too hydrated though cuz you might really have to take a piss during a hot streak.
spoiler alert... current corporate executives (look no further than office of the President) ARE yesterdays mob. Same people, different titles.
Mob cared about great customer service while these massive properties don't give a fuck. It's 100% about the bottom line and not about making the customers happy
Sadly, what you said is more truer everyday.
Mahalo, Vegas is the ninth island for us, our two girls live in Vegas. We take trips to visit our girls and grand-babies, my husband loves the Alicante resort up north Las Vegas so we will be so once again. Thanks for the heads up!!!!
If you go Downtown to the older and less crowded casinos, the cocktail waitresses really keep the "free" drinks coming
Jack Angel The 4 queens! I rarely had an empty cup in my hand and i wasn't there for more than an hour. I tipped 3-5 dollars and they were very nice to me.
The Strip is NOT the place to gamble in Las Vegas!
The 4 queens is the best. The pit bosses and management look like extras from Goodfellas.
Joe Cedars I'm moving in Vegas in few weeks, gotta check that place
Jack Angel finally someone with some sense and brains in the comments section thank you.
Vegas is going the way of Atlantic City it's exactly what they did in AC and now it's empty
I can see drinks but charging for parking. Absolutely ridiculous.
This will be a big deal for gamblers. When I first sit down at the blackjack table or automated craps game, I want a beer NOW. I don't want to have to wait til I tally up enough points or whatever til I get the green light.
Automated Craps is for fools. Live Craps is the ONLY WAY to WIN in VEGAS. Learn how to play the game ,well before standing at a table.
Truly morons go to vegas now
@@wildwest1832 Service charge sometimes more than the room rate.
our school system the largest in the nation, I think some other of our taxes are subsidized by the casinos. They are making you pay for it. For us. We do not pay income tax because visitors pay it for us. Just sayin, its why fees are going up, standard thought here is the visitor pays it all for us.
Many people used to say Vegas was better under the mob...here's another example.
Mike Weiner really
Mike Weiner I agree
Bunthan Sephieroth Kong Yes they would take care of you. Food rooms etc
I agree
It was.
I always thought the complementary drinks were because the more drunk you are the less cautious you will be about throwing away money at a slot machine
Me too !!
Dueling Fatties "they make more money off everyday joe's than rich folk." point taken.
Deana i agree . I just do it. But whats wierd is once you buy a few beers all sudden they come and ask if you want a beer.
I am a gambler but if i am losing on a machine i will move a few times so it makes it harder to monitor my play on one machine.
That's a good point.
I miss the old Vegas now they act like they know who I am , i used go there twice sometimes 3 times a year and always tipped extremely well and service just keeps getting worse and worse
vegas has become so incedibly expensive...no reason to go there anymore really
i'm staying in boulder city this year, @ half the cost and NO "resort" fees.
I am in Vegas now, believe me if you tip a waitress decent the drinks will not stop coming.
Mike Garcia its not about being a cheap scape its about making guess feel like guess and actually wanting to come back.
I already pay for my transportation and loging, I’ll be dammed if I stay in a casino that putts a BS computer program deciding whether or not I can have drinks
Thx for the video!!!
I just came from LV. Surprised that all parking now costs! Before you could park anywhere and in any casino. I find that disappointing as we go and leave our money in the slots and still we get charged for parking (and it is not cheap!)
This is getting ridiculous. I’m taking my money to Cancun for vacations lol.
Epic Stuff
Cartels starting to kill people on can cun beaches. Check out the news.
I'd rather lose a few more dollars at a slot machine than getting murdered by the Mexican cartel
@Jose Chivoullshit they don't cabron. Who do you think you're kidding?
They actually have a Cancún hotel in Vegas lol.
Do iit like the locals do . Buy a big gulp soda or lemonade at 7-11 and bring your liquor in a water bottle.
I'll just keep going to my local indian casino. Save all that money on traveling and get to play the same slots anyway.
We don't charge for drinks." I think it was a 10.00 bill I placed on her tray with a big grin on my face.
michael tipton only smart comment UP here!
Last week i was surprised by another $15 "fee" for making a reservation by phone. Vegas, babye.
Even when I'm playing I can barely get a drink, when I do come I lost my money and they tell me I'm not playing so I can't have a drink I rather pay but I shouldn't pay bar prices
1. Walk to convenience store. 2. Buy bottle of booze and mix. 3. Make what you like in your room. 4. Enjoy road pop for the rest of the day. 5. Profit
Toblerusse road pop i love it!
I remember in 03 they would give you free packs of cigarettes. I was there a year and half ago, it was 16 bucks a pack if you could find them.
I remember that!!
Chris, that was my argument too, the resort fee and front desk informed me whether I used the resort or not, I will still be charged and it's not a one time charge. Too much really.
When I first started working in a Casino in Laughlin we would comp rooms, food, even gave away Shrimp Cocktails, Margaritas
we were in vegas 3 weeks ago regularly gambling through each casino on the strip for days and there were literally no waitresses on any casino floor besides mandalay bay, luxor, paris, and the venetian.
Great video Jacob. Now I see why casino and hotel workers need to be concerned about how technology can impact their jobs.
Ditto.. I usually tip the wait staff whatever I would have had to pay for the drink (it also gets them to check on you too) win-win situation , less income for the workers more for the owners.. Of course
New subscriber right here! :)

I actually tried to tip $10 to a cocktail waitress before and she said it was too much.
This will hurt workers getting tips now. If I have to lose a certain amount to get a drink or pay up front then I will not tip the worker
the waitress is bringing YOU a drink! Tip her..period!! if you dont want to tip..get your butt off of the chair and WALK to the bar to get a drink..these servers dont make the rules..they are trying to make a living just like everybody else
@@curth5158 Always tip the bartender as well.
@@curth5158 exactly I do room service here in Vegas ans damn it bothers me people order 150 plus took service and don't tip
If u aimt gonna tip and order room service get your ass up and pick it up
I went to Vegas last year to write a jewelry piece, and I absolutely loved it.
Sorry went last year and won't be coming back. Vegas used to be a blast now it's a over price Disneyland.
Disneyland for adults
Vegas sucks now.
Steve Washington Just got back. It really does. They just blantany are looking to rip you off. They dont even put any effort into it anymore.
Dee Yarbles your right. If you are actually staying at that hotel its kind of crazy you also have to pay per day for parking.
I gamble, and i always hate the "free drinks" because it takes long for a waitress to take your order and come back.
Proton That's a fact!
Proton ..& unless it's a bottle of beer, the crap is usually watered down..vegas should be ashamed!
I go in with a $100 roll and I can't keep the cunts away from me.
Not sure why so many people go to Vegas…. So many other places that have much better value. I would never go back to Vegas unless they made some major changes with the resort fees, etc.
WTF???? No more free drinks???? Now this is so much worse!
Was just in Vegas and never had a problem getting a cocktail. I think it is more so people who do NOT tip the waitresses. They will purposely avoid you (with good reason), but if you throw a $5 per round, they will seek you out for more drinks.
lol just stop gambling. youll have plenty of money for drinks.
nothing563019 I don't go to Vegas to play anything ..I just go sightseeing and eat food and drink water ..maybe catch a show and walk around and people watch and take pics. ;)
Thats the way to do it! Take in some of the surrounding great desert scenery too. Gambling is dog shit.
nothing563019 you vist vegas lot?
You won't make any profit gambling
They been doing this in Atlantic city for years, regular players still get free drinks or greatly reduced price drinks (ex. Beers are free mixed drinks with top shelf liquors, $2 bucks) as soon as you put your players card in , it has already tracked your pass playing habits and even your favorite drink offers. 🍹🍹🍸🍷🥂🍻 you hit the screen to place your order ,then it tracks when the order is placed and when your drink is on the way.
The worst is the cosmopolitan since you have to keep playing until the machine prints a free drink voucher.
In Canada - casinos are not allowed to comp alcohol. Excellent policy - alcohol is a drug that affects everybody different. Vegas relies on getting people drunk and watching them lose too much money.
I sit on the slot machine, but I play at least 5 bucks, And get two beers at once.
First free parking at the casinos are disappearing and now this :-(
No not that many free loaders ....strip is greedy period
The Fun and Budget Act yes there are a lot of freeloaders...that's why it's an issue.
Typical.
The Fun and Budget Act I can buy my own drink, if needed. I get stoned, anyway. Booze gives me a headache.
This sucks, but I'm not surprised.I believe they're trying to find ways to compensate for the expense of the Raiders moving to Vegas soon.
Vegas just sucks it's been going down for yrs slowly..but now it's... in full affect ...it's not even fun anymore...even if u have money to waste
Bridget Clayton bullshit Vegas is 3 hours from Los angels. The majority of gamblers are people up for a weekend spending less than $1,500
The Vegas Paradise why?
Once California gets sports betting, they'll never go there again.
So they increasing their profit margin doesn't that make them greedy?
When it comes to people abusing the system, it makes them smart
Business as usual
It's called capitalism. Greed is good.
Completely agree 💯👍
also i remember in the 90s that the casinos didn't allow you to take pictures inside the casino, but when i was there last year, no one stopped me from taking pictures inside the casinos.
Ally Burton I agree things are different everywhere these days.
See John Vlog its nit free.
Las Vegas ... now just one big calculation for maximum profit.
Last couple years I’ve noticed a steady decline in drink service. Certain times of night you have to argue with the pit boss to get a drink. It can take up to 45 minutes to get a blue moon while playing $25 min blackjack!
Thx for the update Jacob. You do a great job man!
Vegas changed the minute they took coin machines away. It’s never been the same since
exactly
and it really changed after the shooting last year
Vegas casinos could afford to give drinks away, charge almost nothing for food, comp rooms, etc etc back when people came here to gamble. They started charging for everything when people started coming here broke.
Facts
Vegas reminds me of Michael Jackson. Once great, and over time unrecognizable
The Insane Chef thriller!! ! :)
Fell on deaf ears. Try again.
Mykee Wattz hee hee
The Insane Chef 😂😂😂
Off the wall Thriller bad dangerous history invincible
Vegas was better when the mob ran it. Food and rooms were cheap. Left you $ to have fun with.
The 90's was the beginning of the end for Vegas customers. If you were too young you missed out.
Now that Nevada has lost its monopoly on Sports Betting..?
American government philosophy: it it ain’t broke, fix it till it is
Really enjoy your videos. I don't have a problem with the monitoring system. I've seen a guy with 4 friends playing a penny a spin ordering 4 drinks and stiffing the server on a tip even.
I highly doubt that since they will only bring you 1 drink at a time (2 if one is a water) if this story is true, it’s a BIG exception
ev1lcupcak3 apparently you guys don't go to Vegas often.
Clearly none of you can read...he didnt say 1 person got multiple drinks...he had people with him
are you a fool
