      I would like to correct my previous comment. I hadn’t watched the whole video at that point. You’re dead on about why we need a social for that amount and why we can’t really tell the whole truth. We can say “we’re federally required to have your information on file for this transaction” but we cannot say why. If Nevada gaming or compliance found out an employee was telling guests how avoid a reporting threshold, immediate termination, revoke our f their gaming license, and, potentially, if serious enough… even jail time.

    I’ve been to Vegas over 40 times and one trick I’ve learned is as soon as I get to the room I immediately call house keeping and ask for towels, shampoo, or what ever I might need, just to get someone there.
    Upon arrival, I give a noticeable tip, this way setting a president on how things will be. Once conventions start and the hotel is packed, I amazingly get service in short order. Again, I keep the tips going, now I’m not the one waiting for my second cup of coffee in the morning.

      I'd walk in, flag the very first girl I saw, and no matter how long it took or how weak the drink was, I'd Fat-Tip her when she returned, 99.9% of the time that changed any slow returns of weak drinks for the rest of the night 😉😎👍

    Nothing irritates me more than mandatory gratuity on a dinner check. I worked food jobs for a decade and I always leave a tip but at that point it's no longer a tip. It's extortion. Telling me I have to tip is the sure fire way to not get tipped. It's supposed to be performance based.

      I've only seen that at a couple of places. I'm used to it on groups of 6 or more. They typically get 18%, then I can add as I wish. They do that because those large parties take up time and space and if they stiff the server on the tip it's ridiculous.

      He's actually only about 50/50 on his accuracy. I've worked numerous casinos in California and Reno and most of what he said is BS or just the basics.
      You want the real secrets of the casinos? We have no secrets. Everything is out in the open. It's obvious we won't tell you when a celebrity is staying with us, but that's the same with ANY guest who asks for privacy. Most celebrities use an alias when they check in, and that's all we see when we look up the room info, not the real name, so we usually don't know either.

    • @jeffgreenberg2280
      @jeffgreenberg2280 9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@thomashudson3458 I agree with you. As a Surveillance agent for a Vegas casino, he's not imparting any secrets. What Vegas doesn't want you to know, some jabroni with a You Tube channel isn't going to know. Casinos do have secrets, but the secrets are how Vegas casinos operate. I can promise you that everything is above board. The last thing any casino wants is to run afoul of the Gaming Control Board. Surveillance, for example, monitors table games to ensure that everything is on the level. If a player gets shorted and we see it, we call down to the Pit to make sure the player gets paid properly. We protect the integrity of the game, not just the assets of the casino. Also, by law, no casino or hotel can divulge any personal information about guests. Even if you don't ask for privacy, it's protected by law.

    I worked all over Las Vegas for 15+ years. Hooters Hotel was the worst for bugs in the rooms, roaches in the restaurants, and feathers in the wings. One of the girls (hostess) got murdered while I was there. She met a weird customer when she was off work. They found her body in the desert a few days later. I've also seen several jumpers and murders through the years as well. Bally's had a shooter at Drai's night club you can still find on TH-cam. I was at Paris Casino when a crazy young woman decided to drive her car down the sidewalk and mow people down because she was awoken and asked to leave when sleeping in her car with her infant child at Planet Hollywood's parking structure and was angry about it. Vegas is full of craziness.

Not much to add except a dealer who "hot" tips or asks for tips is extremely frowned upon not just by customers but staff too. It's rare that I've seen it but it does happen. And I remember a day when someone jumped off the parking structure and unfortunately committed suicide. The only way I knew this was to ask a security guard why there was tape off and ambulances and etc. It was done very quickly. Never heard a word about it in the news. So the suicide thing is definitely legit. #7 Asking for dealer advice at the tables: Out of courtesy to other players do this at tables with fewer people or during slower hours. If you elbow your way into the last open seat at a Blackjack table and stall the game with uncertainty and asking newbie questions it will piss everyone off. Most dealers would be happy to explain the game but only at the right time.

      I've heard dealers tell certain players, "Hey, 10 AM is the time to learn how to play." They'll help you some most of the time, but not at a full table. And there's the problem of the player understanding simple explanations; as the saying goes, "I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you."

    • @chrisj2024
      @chrisj2024 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      Yep, slow times are the BEST times to go and learn a new game. Also I have found that slower smaller casinos have more customer service focused teaching of a table game versus the rude behavior I experienced during my birthday at vegas this year at the large casinos... Laughlin, or your local indian casino during slow times is a great way to go and learn how to play some of the more complex table games, like craps. Laughlin even reduced the 15.00 minimum to 10.00 during the slow time to encourage more playing. Which with a game like craps is great cause you want a couple of bets on the table to hedge against your losses.
      People don't want to be dealing with newbie questions during a busy craps game, but if you are lucky the players will help teach you where to bet.

And it depends on local police as well as city and state how they handle the grey areas which would be breaking up fights, throwing people out. thats why u see all this drama about walmart security at the beginning of the pandemic not really doing anything when people walked out of their doors with a shopping cart full of stuff. It's a liability and walmart can be sued because security has no job responsibility to stop an actual theft ( technically walking out the door of the walmart with unpaid stuff is theft ). @@chillingsworth4384 they weren’t more likely to lose if she was dealing. The cards are the cards no matter who is turning them over. The house has the mathematical advantage with every shoe and every dealer. The “cooler” is an old Vegas myth. The CSM’s are not rigged per se. As low cards come out of a traditional shoe the “advantage” can actually swing slightly to the player in some cases resulting in almost a 1.5% ODDS advantage swing to the player. Blackjack is the only game that the odds can work in a players favor based on the historical show of the cards. A CSM insures this NEVER is the case resulting in a permanent house edge since the deck will always keep the same amount of low and high cards in play… never allowing for the count to get high enough for the player to have the advantage.

Any transaction of 3k or more had extra documentation. You'll find that under Treasury regulation 31 CFR 103.33 in FinCen. A larger report is triggered at 10k. We would keep records if a person did multiple transactions that summed up to 10k or more. Back in the day at the Desert Inn we were playing blackjack and tipping well and the dealer started playing the hands for us if he looked at his whole card. When he knew he had a hand that could bust he just passed us up and if we had a losing hand he would hit it. Nothing was ever said and it took me about three hands to catch on. Had a nice run. 🎉

    I love these videos. A lot of these scenarios will never apply to me, but hearing about them make me glad. For example, bottle service at clubs. I'm happily married, middle aged, and my wife and I will never be going to clubs. Makes me very happy I'm not some lonely guy trying to score chicks and getting ripped off.

    WOW!!! Awesome video Jacob. I know the MSG Sphere opens late September. You may consider doing a video just on the sphere and do it about 2 weeks before the big U2 concert. I say this because those 18,000 people going to the concert may search for MSG Sphere a week or so before they head to Vegas. Any thoughts???

    I have heard the old saying, "Vegas was not built on winners!" And this is absolutely TRUE! Most people who gamble LOSE! Now if you are a gambler visiting Las Vegas and you are losing every time you gamble at whatever (Slots, BJ, Craps, Roulette, Poker, etc....) what do you think the odds are you are going to be tipping workers for this and that, while you are not only losing your money gambling, but being gouged with excessively high costs of everything and being gouged with every fee under the sun for your stay in Sin city?! I'll give you good odds that between inflation, hidden fees, and gambling loses.....tipping has gone way DOWN or does not exist for many visitors.

    It was great to see you in the mirage recently! Thanks for showing us how to place a dealer bet for a tip! Made the dealers help me learn craps through all the hands and the game a lot of fun!
    Also, I worked at an Indian casino in California for a few years, Sycuan. The suicide rate is unreal let alone the od’s or health emergencies. As you started to talk about it I told my boyfriend who you were so awesome to take a pic with how we even had someone jump off the parking structure and the news never reported on it just as you said. Thanks for being so friendly. The world needs more people like you in it.
    Oh and they do use code words to alert security. All true!

I ask ask about tipping when leaving they said anything we are grateful for. I gave them $400 they seemed very happy 😊

    I worked at the Showboat (which became Castaways), now gone, back in 2000. A man jumped off the top deck of the parking garage, and the bang heard from it, when he landed on the roof of the casino, was awful. A sound I won't ever forget. We only knew, the employees, because security told us what happened. To the guests, who freaked out with the sound as well, it was a maintenance issue that was being worked on, even though cops, paramedics and fire were on scene, and the top deck of the parking garage was now taped off. Suicides happen almost daily in Vegas, and it is an unspoken rule by Casino/Resort employees to not say anything to guests.

    When I worked as a night auditor we could have as alias names on our name tags. Unfortunately people had stalkers, especially the poor cocktail waitresses. My favorite thing though was meeting some of the celebrities. For a small resort town in northern Nevada, you'd be surprised at the acts that showed up.

  • @the-chillian
    @the-chillian 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +8

    About the cup thing -- the diameter of the cup makes more of a difference than you might think. A taller cup might look larger, but its volume increases directly with how tall it is. However, the volume increases with the *square* of the diameter.
    As an example, suppose you have a cup that's 6 inches high and 3 inches across. That's about 42.4 square inches, or 23.5 oz. If you increase the height of a cup by an inch, you've increased the volume to 49.5 square inches or 27.4 oz, a difference of 2.9 oz. However, if you increase the diameter of a cup by an inch, it now contains 75.4 square inches or 41.8 oz, a difference of 18.3 oz!
    So by giving you a narrower cup, you're getting a MUCH smaller drink than if they gave you a shorter cup even though it doesn't look that much smaller.

    I worked at the Bellagio when it first opened and celebrities were aplenty. Casino policy was, if you encountered a celebrity, you cannot ask for an autograph or whatever. Caught doing so was an automatic termination. One dealer was foolish enough to test that policy and suffered the consequences.

      My work brings me in contact with various types of celebrities - musicians, sports players, actors, etc - and usually I don't speak to them unless they speak to me. I'll smile, with a friendly nod, and if they say something I'll respond briefly and pleasantly. They have to initiate any conversation.

      What most people don't understand is that in some states the servers still get paid the same minimum wage as anyone else plus of course their tips on top of that. I know servers in California who make more money per hour then some highly-skilled technicians. But of course it depends on the town and the restaurant you're working at. If you're working in Alabama in some small town coffee shop, you're not going to be making a whole lot of money.
