Considering the post skeletron bit in whichever update changed that, the handgun, phoenix blaster or hellwing bow are probably stronger. EoC required a bow, though, because I didn't have a Summon yet. In my 'fortheworthy' Legendary Mode Run, Skeletron apparently has anti-cheese measures in place that prevent you from using any ranged weapons against him. Quad-barrel shotgun carried me through my first master mode WoF kill. I was using meteor shots and necro armor, with lots of mobility accessories. I made the hell's ceiling high so that the spread of bullets will hit all three parts of WoF, and the meteor shots provide piercing which allows me to ignore the hungers and focus on dodging the lasers. It's good for playing the literal long game. I mean playing slowly, staying in pre hardmode for a long time. It's really damn good for farming the EOC.
Honestly it's still incredibly strong. When i played in Master Mode For the Worthy with my friend, we defeated Wall of Flesh with ease using them with meteor bullets on first try.
Two things: A: You're not including ammo damage in this. Regular musket balls add 7 damage *per pellet*, which makes it 21x8=166 damage while the pre-"nerf" is 31x4=124 damage. B: Enemies do *not* gain the same change to damage reduction as players in expert and master mode, so the defense required for the old version to be stronger is not affected by it.
@@Tyrian3k a: yeah your Right that would still make it less damage for any enemy with more than 11 defense though which is most of them. B: are you sure about that, I was very sure enemy defense works the same as the player in master mode? If not i know they at least have much higher defense than in normal mode.
@@markemad1986 Depends on what you're looking at explicitly. If you look at it per shot, enemies actually need 22 defense for the old and new to break even in terms of damage, which is more than just about any pre-HM enemy has. If you go with raw DPS, the value is 10 defense for Musket Balls, 12 for Meteor Shot and 14 for Silver/Tungsten Bullets. Additionally, with twice the projectiles, you get a lot more knockback out of the gun as well. In HM, enemies will have more defense, of course, but you can practically instantly replace it there anyway. For beating things like the dungeon, Deerclops or the WoF, it does just as much damage or more. Overall, it's not much of a nerf outside of being put behind Skeletron. And yes, whether you play classic, expert or master, how enemies' defense factors into your damage remains the same.
