I dissagee, I've never liked the ooa, unbalanced, grindy. But I can say the weapons and armour drops are very good. I also have to say the Don't Starve (together) crossover is much larger and more iconic. I don't even know what a dungeon defenders 2 is.
I wish there were more “Baton Weapons” like the Sky Dragon’s Fury, cause I like the spinning animation and having a right click attack is always appreciated.

New melee is crazy. I like to use the terra blade for big groups of enemies, because the wave it fires is bigger and goes faster, meanin it can hit more enemies consistently. But i use flying dragon for bosses because it does morre damage if you manage to hit accurately.
@@sockrteezI feel your pain. I had to fight queen slime 20 times to get blade staff A 25% DROP and I didn’t even get pillion in the process, And dread nautilus 8 times to get sanguine staff A 50% DROP.
Love these underrated weapons videos. There's so many options in the game so it's nice to have an idea of which ones are worth considering in a playthrough
This weapon has a fun concept and i used it a couple times but as you said its too long to get.the only way i will see myself using this weapon every melee playthrough is when i farm the bow for my friend and this thing drops.
Quick tip: You can completely invalidate most basic enemies and even two of the three mini-bosses during the Old One's Army event by setting up hoik barriers in front of both portals. It basically spawn locks all but the flying enemies.
I really hate how not much people like Old Ones Army. After doing my Sentry Summoner playthrough, I found so much love in the Mine Staff for events like Pirate Army and such
i think old ones army weapons really are meant for the old ones army events. they tend to focus on wide, area of effect damage or infinite piercing, something that is critical in events like the old one’s army.
I found that this thing absolutely shreds empress of light. I didn't even have a great melee setup as I was playing summoner before and after this time but even still it did amazingly, it's perfectly suited to kill her quickly with the electro spheres. This was Pre-Moonlord Mastermode EOL btw
0:07 bruh after they buffed terrablade the influx waver became pretty much obsolete, moreover with the attack speed build terrablade outclassed every single melee weapon before zenith. Idk if it is still as powerful as it was before the attack speed nerf, but I know for sure that the iflux waver desperately needs a similar rework
yes the influx waver desperately needs a rework to keep up with the new terra blade and horseman's blade. the influx waver went from being one of my favorite melee weapons pre 1.4.4 to basically being useless afterwards
This is one of my favourite weapons in the game tbh. This style - stay still and still be effective, is really cool! I love to use this weapon with lightning aura staff. One platform with a bad on it, heart statue, star in a bottle, and six summons from the staff, plus inferno potion. As a result you have "can't touch this" combo, no one can enter and get burned, knocked into the stratosphere and die after this. Plus it's weapon from a dragon, what looks like dragon, and I *love* dragons. -Re-Logic, I want a dragon mount. Or item that turns you into the dragon. There is not enough dragons!-

i dont think people dismiss the OOA because it's "too difficult", i think they dismiss it cuz it's fucking useless. like, even this, the terrablade works way better 90% of the time because of its range and AOE.
I usually only do the event if I have a summoner build and am using the nebula arcanum, which btw is the best weapon for this event easily, only beaten by the Zenith honestly, so I have not much use for a melee weapon when I do this event.
I sorta like how it's both a true melee weapon and a sub-melee weapon, but I also feel like both niches are filled better by easier-to-get weapons that only try to be one or the other.
I hope the dead cells thing adds more to the martian madness event, like you can upgrade or enrage the aliens with some kind of item amd they would start the dead cells event.

Oh boy, there hasn't been a single Ranged Class playthrough that I didn't farm for them since I started using them. The melee option, Squire and then Valhalla, are also pretty strong, next time I'm gonna test the Mage one.
I remember getting this and being shocked how good it is! It works well against a lot of stuff, maybe not cultist and moonlord but against old ones army, all events, duke fishron and more it really works well, maybe wont use it if i want to get done quickly but if i want to get as stacked as possible I still would get this
Apparently , when playing in multiplayer every player gets their own etherial mana for sentries, so it's basically double with 2 players, when i did the event with my friend we had so many sentries at wave 7 we could basically just watch our sentries defend the crystal entirely on their own
Tip for beating the DD2 event: play it with friends. it allows you to both focus on separate sides, making the main difficulty (not being able to focus on both sides) basically non-existent.
This dropped on my first completed run. I'm using a mixed build, with a melee focus, but also ranged and the UFO summons. The fight was hard, but the Rainbow Gun was useful as another line of solid DPS for the mobs, while the Terrablade and Eye of Cthulhu were chucking through Betsy. Beetle Armor for now, with defence boost.
The event can be surprisingly easy, if you have a melee with full tank gear and a ranger with full max damage gear, you can blast trou most of the waves, you just need to have killed empress on expert/master and gotten the insignia for infinite flight, than just get the tank to get betsy to the other side of the map and have the ranger to deal with the wave, simply the tank deals damage and uppon death you have plenty of time to respawn and lure betsy away again due to her flying back to the crystal
the right click looks so strong, so beautiful but it being a "triple attack" makes it so that it has to have less damage, but you are not getting the use out of it being a triple attack like at all so it feels like a loss of DPS, if it was 1 ball it could have so much more damage and feel better to use imo but the spin attack is great
Definitely worth it. I do the old one's army in every playthrough because it's fun and I like hitting all the different pieces of content instead of blitzing the game
Most of old ones army content is actually really good, I think the main flaw of it is just how painful it is to grind, imo if it was just a bit easier to grind or far easier (like making only small enemies spawn when Betsy has spawned, because you're not gonna defend Eternia and rely solely on your sentries) would make it a much better "gamemode" In general

Thw R2 attack seemed better when i used it, just need to get the spacing right when shooting it so the AOE lightning effects would hit consistently, the spin is way too risky and not to many enemies are effective with pure Melee, which is why Pure Melee is considered a challenge. Besides the time you did that attack was that you exploited the enemies and inside a box where no range vortex enemies can get a line of sight on you
Vampire knives post nerf are most underrated.Ppl actually be ranking the influx wafer and scourge of the corrupter over it.VK give INSANE survivablity and the damage output while low isn’t anywhere near a poor as ppl make it out to be.Also, most times you get it passively since mob spawns in crimson is so high.Even in this channel,the VK are being slept on.
I remember seeing this originally and I thought: 'Wow, that thing is sick and really strong. I can't wait to get it.' then I tried the OOA and realized I would never get the fury.
If anyone else is struggling with the Old One's Army, here's a tip that helped me out; put a layer of platforms above the bottom layer. I'd recommend about ten blocks minimum. Use the strongest Ballista you have available, and alternate between putting them on the lower and upper layers on each side of the crystal. The Ballista is easily the strongest sentinel you have available, but it can struggle to hit flying targets when it's on the ground. Once you put it up a little higher, however, it absolutely nails all the little flying nuisances that might otherwise slip past your defenses, with its potent knockback often keeping them away so effectively that they die before you even see them.
The explodijg kines an also be a wrecker if you know where the portals spawn you can put a stair case there out of platforms for some reason that allows it to be stacked, so you can stack it and every weak enemies wont survive it if you stack enough Instead of multiple ballista above you can put a small number of the flame sentry it has good knock back and will knockback the flying filth Lightning aura should be placed last cause if place first it can cause other sentries to not be able to be placed around it it is also a good filter like the exploding one Also whips do apply summon tag and change targetting like how they to summons(but auras only get half the tag since they ignore defense)
Arial bane is a real Even Farmer, it does amazingly against Events, you just have to position yourself right, and the single target dps is not too shabby, but the tsunami would do better in longer ranges and fighting bosses, since also the arial bane does more dmg to enemies mid air, look into it!
All Betsy's drops are useless for a very simple reason - you get them at the stage when, even though the weapon itself is quite powerful, you don't need them because you need to kill a super easy boss and one of the towers to get the most powerful weapon (before the Moon Lord). It's sad, but it's true.
This weapon is amazing and i always get this when ever i try to kill day time empress Attack pattern is not random, it has slight variations but it fires three way arc and what ever it hits, balls of electricity stays on enemy and does dot dmg while fighting empress, just fire up-right or up-left depending where empress is regarding to you This is amazing weapon even to moon lord fight
The weapon you mentioned in the video I actually used it recently before watching this video and I can say this weapon is good but I am playing on phone so it's so hard to adjust the attack
I use as many weapons as i can every playthrough. I never choose one "class" for the whole game, theres really no reason to. So I think every weapon that is fun is worth getting because the point of playing the game is having fun, winning is just the subgoal that is supposed to direct us to having fun. This one looks fun, but also I havent really used the scourge of the corruptor either and that looks fun too!
Old Ones Army in general I think is a little underrated, as the enemies actually drop good items like the Ogre or Besty. You should definitely swing by the army especially post-golem
The problem with OOA drops are that it takes much more time to get them than anything else. If you always got the drop you wanted it would be fine, but going through the event multiple times isn't worth it.
it would be better if it shot three electrospheres in a straight line in the direction of the cursor. I think that no random projectile spread would make this weapon much more convenient to use. With this, the thing that electrospheres dissapear quicker than ones from electrosphere launcher would be more forgivable.
Something I'd like to say about the Old One's Army that's completely unrelated to the Sky Dragon's Fury: The Explosive Trap Staff is INCREDIBLY overpowered. In my experience, when used with Red Riding Armor, you can set up the traps on top of the portals and straight up SPAWN KILL THE OLD ONE'S ARMY ENEMIES. This basically nullifies any threat of the crystal being destroyed while you fight Betsy. *However, keep in mind that Betsy spawns Etherian Wyverns which can fly down and attack the crystal.*

If you do, talk about the clam crusher You get it by killing that clam thing-o It does ~200 dmg with just a few buffs If you purposefully miss though itdoes ~4-5x dmg It can also hit multiple sections of a boss at a time if you purposefully miss This strat with a bit of crit luck can do >5k dmg vs the destroyer

In my last playtrough the dragon attack sword was way better than the terrablade. It was the last sword i used before i found a whip in the dungeon
Terrablade is very strong but it still gets far outclassed by weapons like this if you're tanky enough to use its spin

I'd say the most underrated melee weapon is the mushroom spear, which is sold by the mushroom npc by 60 gold after 1 mech boss is defeated

if the spheres were actually consistent in the way they shoot i would totally use this thing

This is amazing weapon even to moon lord fight
The weapon you mentioned in the video I actually used it recently before watching this video and I can say this weapon is good but I am playing on phone so it's so hard to adjust the attack

I use as many weapons as i can every playthrough. I never choose one "class" for the whole game, theres really no reason to. So I think every weapon that is fun is worth getting because the point of playing the game is having fun, winning is just the subgoal that is supposed to direct us to having fun. This one looks fun, but also I havent really used the scourge of the corruptor either and that looks fun too!
Old Ones Army in general I think is a little underrated, as the enemies actually drop good items like the Ogre or Besty. You should definitely swing by the army especially post-golem
in my opinion i don't think any of betsy's weapons are ones to forget about cause of the damage and or utility each one has.
This is exactly what Scythe class weapons do in Thorium mod.

The seedler is criminally underrated
The problem with OOA drops are that it takes much more time to get them than anything else. If you always got the drop you wanted it would be fine, but going through the event multiple times isn't worth it.
it would be better if it shot three electrospheres in a straight line in the direction of the cursor. I think that no random projectile spread would make this weapon much more convenient to use. With this, the thing that electrospheres dissapear quicker than ones from electrosphere launcher would be more forgivable.
Something I'd like to say about the Old One's Army that's completely unrelated to the Sky Dragon's Fury:
The Explosive Trap Staff is INCREDIBLY overpowered. In my experience, when used with Red Riding Armor, you can set up the traps on top of the portals and straight up SPAWN KILL THE OLD ONE'S ARMY ENEMIES. This basically nullifies any threat of the crystal being destroyed while you fight Betsy. *However, keep in mind that Betsy spawns Etherian Wyverns which can fly down and attack the crystal.*

If you purposefully miss though itdoes ~4-5x dmg
It can also hit multiple sections of a boss at a time if you purposefully miss
This strat with a bit of crit luck can do >5k dmg vs the destroyer
i think you should do the gatligator. i remember it was quite a popular weapon back in 1.2 but no one talks about it anymore. it's like discount megashark but obtainable before the mechs xd
