Great video. I was the bristle, very fun game, great group. Would love to see a private game with like 1ks vs 4ks while bsj is on the 1k team to try to carry the 1ks to victory. Might be straying from the edu Smurf concept, but throwing it out there.
That sounds like a great idea to show how much impact a very high mmr player can have. Just using total MMR, the 4ks seem to have the advantage, but we don't know yet if BSJ put into that situation can just win due to having that much greater impact than the average 4k.
I like this idea and would like to see what bracket he really starts to struggle with the gap.
I think 4k vs 1k is too much, not because he is lacking skill but lets say on min 10 he dominate the lane hard with 5000 nw vs 3000 nw, but on the other two lanes 1k players would definitely crushed hard by 4k players, and 4k players knows well how to take advantage on winning situation

BSJ, please don't listen to the fooking clowns complaining. Literally can't make people happy. Normal smurfs, "You're the devil." Switch to private lobbies to be more ethically responsible, "Boooo... It's not educational." Honestly...
These educational smurfs are great, and while some are less educational due to the divide in skill, the commentary is always helpful if people are paying attention.
As a sub 3k player, I really find all of this to be really helpful to some degree or another.

I think ther'es just people who are literally triggered by the concept that you can actually have impact in your games to the point where you can win. Their whole identity is just "I can't win and climbing is impossible" and they have to pick apart every game as to why it was somehow luck that he climbed. On Grubby's climb I saw some guy saying "he just got carried to archon by luck and he was the worst in his games", guess what his rank was? Crusader/Guardian, lol.
This game was a lot of fun! I was the Ursa, it was crazy how fast the map just seemed to close in on us just with you cutting the waves once you were ahead. I love watching these and can't wait until I improve a bit and get to play again!
Managing your hero, deciding on items to buy, and farming without getting ganked can feel impossible in Dota 2. But with practice and helpful tutorial videos like your Dota diary, I've been able to make better judgment calls in my matches. I used to be a 10 MMR player and was stuck in herald for months, but after two years of playing and watching tutorials, I was able to climb to 1200 MMR and leave the herald for the first time in my life. it took me 2 years to reach 1200 mmr but its all worth it. Your videos have been instrumental in my success, and I want to thank you for your wonderful contributions to the Dota 2 community.
So basically BSJ's Naga is like cancer. Growing uncontrollably and ruining everything. Cutting waves, farming enemy camps, taking map vision everywhere, disabling blinks, doing dot forever. Holy shit that's PTSD stuff. The amount of farm he had was disgusting.

I think it would actually be insanely helpful if you could take a look from the other team perspective and give some clues through the game on how to counter high impact players like this naga here.
Great video, this series is really helpful to understand the mindset of the hero and I appreciate the time taken to explain the decision making throughout. I'd really like to see one of these for alchemist as I feel he's a hero that has insane potential at lower mmr if you can play/pick him right (also particularly I really struggle with itemisation on him so it'd be great to hear some explanation about it from a high mmr perspective.) Either way keep up the great content, you've helped me understand the game better than anyone else has :)
I had a backlash of Naga I had played against two months ago. Naga was everywhere, illusions were unkillable and the match finished in 30mins.
On the topic of neutral creeps' abilities - orange Ogres will use their smash even if you're alone (because they hate you this much)
floating back to this video with naga pretty up there in meta and with her always being a hero i wanted to get better at, ive watched some higher level naga play before but its really nice to have it in text. or atleast in video format, the rationalle of when and how illusion farming works, figuring out when i can start to afford to send less illusions to lane and camp is one ive struggled with and with naga being relavitely unchanged its nice, now i just have to get a game where im not forced to first pick in a pub where i get countered by most of their team

Smurf idea, Get someone in the target MMR to pick the hero and let them play for first 10ish minutes? Then take it over, I think this would be good as when you started this you said "so I picked this hero because its good against their heros" and you itemize with deep game knowledge. Then you can start talking about why the hero/build was wrong or item build is bad, then show how to adapt and make the best of it.
As entertaining as this video is, I'm pretty sure the level of micro, hero/matchup/timing knowledge, and map awareness that you're using to crush them is far beyond what a 1k mmr player can do.
There's some nice tips, but mostly what I'm seeing here is the difference that thousands of hours of dedicated practice and focus makes.
*edit* - at this low MMR, it might make more sense if the "smurf" was being coached by BSJ instead.
I dont know what mmr that is, but last time I played ranked I was low Archon, and I can manage a lot of that. Micro is worse, but farming 3 camps/2 lanes at once is honestly not that hard (or maybe it's 3k hours of dota), for hero match ups I just use Dota Plus, coz I'm a dumb fuck, and map awesomenes is honestly the worst. But 75% of this gameplay is sending illu do different camps and lanes. Because map awarness is much worse I get ganked more often, but then you have song, fucking amazing

What if you would play a smurf naga vs an anti illusion team? Sven, Tidehunter, Sand King, Leshrac, Timbersaw, etc..
He would have a much higher chance of losing regardless of his mmr on another account if he intentionally chooses to be hard-countered.
Good picks are like 50% of what determines what your mmr will be. The other 50% is between items, micro, farming, decisions, fighting, split pushing, communication, and managing your emotions.
@@DAR0k88 That's what I would like to see. Sooner or later you will be hard-countered and you can't do the usual Naga stuff. A Timbersaw is happy when you hitting him with illusions.
Tabbing through units to direct them, easy enough, using alt for additional hotkeys i just never learned and it feels like a struggle
This is an unrealistic Smurf video because it's a private lobby of BSJ viewers where everyone plays their role and nobody griefs. What I want to see is a Smurf that wins with something like a pos5 jungle Wraith King and pos4 Viper who steal your farm

So how do we counter Naga as supports in these types of games? Tree planting sentries helped, but should they run a tri lane bot to kill Naga as much as possible?
Use sentries to block farm, if you are out picked generally leave the lane and help the other lanes win. In this match up Marci is really bad vs Naga cause she has no way of dealing with the illusions properly. So the 3 or 4 that can stay better in the lane should stay and the other one should either stack or help other lanes. Prioritize Mid over Safe lane, because your impact on a 1v1 lane is higher then on a 2v2 lane.
Honestly, there's also cases where you were simply outdrafted and your lineup really has no better option than 'wait for Naga and her team to make some big blunders'. As BSJ said this was a crucial flaw in their lineup he could take advantage of as a 10th pick. It's like when a Meepo or Brood gets lastpicked vs lineups with as good as no answer to the core strength of those situational 'broken' carries. You almost always need to play smart, patient DotA and try and find, and then exploit, on mistakes of the enemy - whether it is overaggression/overconfidence, going too late-game by for example going multiple Midas, etc.

BSJ, Can you make a video of you Smurfing but your team lose their lanes? It seems like this always happens in my bracket in archon and I don't know what exactly to do to carry my team and their family because they're too heavy.
Do your best to keep lanes shoved into the enemy part of the map and just farm like a madman. Even if the enemy team is ahead early they still can't really take t2 and t3 towers before they hit certain milestones so you do have time to catch up if you just make sure to not run into them and die repeatedly. Avoid thinking that you have to do "damage control" that just results in handicapping your own farm.
thats the problem, these high mmr smurfs doesnt lose lane, they will pick hero that can jungle from before lvl 6 if the lane matchup is not good. the key is getting ahead with farm. they dont trust low mmr players call and make their own decisions hence the saying "play like a smurf" emerges.

Bsj has more last hit than the whole enemy team. Also something like 300 at 20 min. That's as much as I get if i play with no enemy

Because most likely I will do same mistake like his student and bsj will warn us (like what to do to push when enemy have better defense skill like sniper and old March tinker, bsj remind us to just wait 1 enemy to kill and go push in advantage number)

I am curious, I know you said you went butterfly for the raw damage output but would skadi be a viable option as well? The have marci, ursa, and treant who all rely on heals, and since they all just run from you since you’re strong it would prevent them from getting away.
Think the idea was that Earth Spirit + Ensare and Song is already sufficient catch/counter engage. Prob not bad tho, just a different item pick for sure

As a carry player in archon this helped, people just be complaining for the sake of complaining
this video was very entertaining, and i do find it nice to showcase a Micro hero in a smurf setup, however i don't think it was the best idea to showcase them against a 1k team lol, the opponents clearly don't know how to deal with it and i can't expect a 1k MMR player watching this video and learning much. i think it would have been best to showcase Naga Siren in a 5k or 7k smurf match. Naga on a 1k smurf just feels like a stomp lol
I would expect the 1k player to learn from how to stomp with Naga, why it was good and what it takes to perform at the level necessary to take the free win as the free win that it is
Well you just said it: people in their skill level don't know how to deal with this. That doesn't make it less valuable, if anything that makes it extremely valuable information in their bracket that'll carry them pretty far. It won't carry them to 10K since at some point you will start encountering players who can deal with it better, but they don't *need* it to carry them to 10K, only out of 1K.

Honestly this just illustrates why I hope naga gets properly reworked sometime. Like sure, it's a pretty unique playstyle only illusion heroes can do, but naga's the best at making the map incredibly unfun to play for the other team.

You try logic but fail at basic comprehension. The idea for all BSJ Smurf videos is that if you claim to be too good for your mmr, you CAN climb regardless of your “stupid teammates who play badly”.
He did videos carrying the game from every role. The idea is not that it’s okay to Smurf, but that there is no forced mmr.

I'm pretty sure the average is meant to represent the players not BSJ, which is why his team average is usually (iIrc) lower than the opposing team.

Just for the sake of putting it out there, might be more viable to stick to support roles. I'm sure there's a lot more value there in order for lower MMR players to learn how to adapt to the game in a support role.

These educational smurf games are not typical games, anyone can win with hyperfarmer illusion hero vs cores that are only good at single target Dmg. I mean look at it he is mostly afk farming and stats are 17 - 13. How is beeing a smurf here any good? I wanna see him smurf in a game as carry, when the its 10-20 for the enemy's team.

@@TheBIackEye hmm, i'm sorry that the scenario you are describing is common for you, but it's more probable that if you win your lane the other lanes will win, because maybe your sup can rotate, or your mid doesn't need to be worried about you, or the opponent mid can't gank you as easily, and so on. If you win your lane the other lanes have more probability to win, so it's harder for bsj to have a game like that to show. Don't misunderstand me, i want bsj to cover a losing game, because it happens, but, how many games bsj needs to play to get a losing game? I would bet that he needs to play a bunch of them, so... It's time consuming for him
Replay takeover would be a godsend here. Having him take over for whatever core is the furthest behind at 10-12 mins would be a lot more interesting than watching people surrender at 45 seconds in.
