dude, you're so toxic and inefficient... Everyone knows the only true way to play void is to chrono your entire team in a teamfight with and salve them all to save!
I always hated to play FV because it's very stressing experience to play the chronosphere build. If you fuck up chrono is like you joined the enemy team, and your team seems to backseat you all game about your chrono usage. But this time walk/time lock build seems much more chill to play, will definitely try it out.
It's about gauging which one you need to go on a specific game. It may be stressing to go the Chronosphere build, but there are games where you absolutely can't go the tanky build. And also mute any player that pings your chrono in a non constructive manner, if they ping it and it doesn't fit the criteria BSJ mentioned in this video then mute them.

If you are looking for pro players with the SnY non-chrono build, I recommend watching some Ame replays. Not only has he been playing exclusively this build across the patch, but also has been winning a lot of games. Probably the best carry atm as well and really fast farmer so you might get some ideas how to stay head to head with those greedy carries like luna for example.
Extremely underrated item synergy right now is Echo Sabre into Maelstrom, and especially on Void. Echo Sabre basically doubles the chances of landing a Time Lock and procing Maelstrom's lightning, also it's really cost-efficient and covers a lot of what the hero needs.
@@egrassa1480 Dota has pseudo random distribution as opposed to true random, meaning bash is not 25% at every hit but 8.5% on first hit increasing by 8.5% on each subsequent hit until bash occurs to reduce chance based "outplays" and multiple bashes in a row, which would mean you have a higher chance of getting a bash following a double attack.

Programming "chance" is a cold-science and landing two hits - even in real "chance" still doubles your chances of doing things, just to let you know. Throwing a six sided dice twice will increase your chances to have one of the sides of your choosing.

This is not the case for dice, which always have the same probability distribution. You can read an article about it on the Dota 2 fandom website. It's weird that they call it Pseudo-Random Generation though, when that means something else outside of Dota
@@DEBIEL918 I'm aware, I was reading Warcraft's DotA code in my spare time and was aware how everything there worked mechanics wise. Even after DracoLich took after Ice Frog. And read do DotA 2 Wikia page for reference always, because the code is unreachable. Also semi-aware how the ladder system is working and how people are abusing it, very fascinating for me. Still putting how it actually works aside - having two hits in a quick succession will always increase the chance of landing proc. abilities in any way, shape or form - by how much depends on the way the product is programmed. Another thing I forgot to add in my first comment is that Time Lock upon landing can (and have chance to proc) Maelstrom, but any other source of damage like Cleave doesn't work. Also direct damage increasement doesn't work - so the best damage item by far for Void (aside from Rapier) is Mjollnir. Beating others by a large margin. So Echo Sabre and Maelstrom are better then the alternatives like Mask of Madness and Battle Fury.
My favorite void experience was the vanguard + radiance times, you were almost unkillable with tackiness from vg + max q, and gameplay itself was very fun. I kinda miss it
In tai chi, they often do this demonstration where someone pushes against a wall, or another student, and the instructor shows that the person pushing is only strong in the direction they are pushing and that the more they push, the more sacrifice strength in the directions they are not pushing. Instructors usually press on the shoulder of the person doing the pushing and they press tangentially to the direction the primary push. Usually the person topples over with only gentle pressure being applied. In Dota this applies in the case where you said, if you can't join the fight, you have to apply pressure and push. It's literally the exact same concept. Another way to look at it is simply punishing them for giving you an opening to push.
I suck at faceless void. He's completely ass when you're under-leveled. Not a good hero unless you're more advanced, know the match-ups, know you can get kills, know how to farm well, know which items to build (thanks bsj for the tips btw), etc.
This hero is just made me immortal 2 times with so many build i tried... And my logic at this hero is just almost same with u.. When i can just burst people down ill just go madness maelstrom(Chrono Build) but if i need to play as frontliner and thread people without chrono ill just build midas,diffu, manta or midas,SNY,Skadi (TimeWalk Build) Thanks to make me know that im doing right BSJ.👍👍👍
Hey - a Crusader noob here. Damn nice guide - I love this hero. Of course, my approach is the Chronosphere build. This guide opened a new way of looking at this hero. I just have a few random questions. 1. When is the time to sell the Midas? To free up the last slot? 2. Lion and Shaman - I hate these freaking heroes when I play Void. I almost never pick void into a lion support. Yet you hardly mention them. Is it because, it's too obvious? or is it that they are not much of a threat if played properly? 3. When talking about tankiness, what really matters? items that gives HP, stats, regen, armor, evasion? or bits of all? Forgive the stupid question. Just wanted to hear your thoughts since it's often very different and much better than mine Cheers

Quite interesting to hear you say the phrase "you carry games by not dying, you don't carry games by getting solo pickoffs" Kinda goes against your thoughts on PL for example, where you usually advise damage over sustain (aka daedalus instead of heart) Having said that, I really liked the build/video and actually has inspired me to add Faceless Void onto my hero pool
Different hero though. PL needs to deal damage, void can, for example, have his team help in chrono. You want to survive in no small part because you threaten the enemy with a massive teamfight spell. PL doesn't do that.
I've found another option is the Aghanims Satanic build. More damage centric, and you play it much mroe like a slark than a typical all in chrono. Dodging in and out of fights, still having a dispel from satanic, and since you're going satanic for a lot of survivability, you can build more damage items. You're still not reliant on Chrono to win the fight, but provide nice DPS when needed. Also BSJ (and others), what are thoughts on Echo Sabre as first or 2nd item on faceless? Provides tankiness and mana regen early for Time Walk spam, and can still be the tanky Stats frontliner for team if needed?

It's like playing PA but having multiple bash instead of critical. Most of the time for lower MMR player, we just go for how to get a good chrono. Good chrono, mostly win. Bad chrono, will be bullied by teammates. Now we can see another void potential
So basically be beefy enough to always have enemies cast spell on you and eventually wear them down and kill them. Isn't this the same concept with weaver? I always go SNY after maelstrom and just bait all the spells from the enemy. Then timelapse and just clean up with my team
One thing about chrono based void in long fights is mana. This build solves that issue as its heavy stat based. Thanks BSJ on emphasizing on this build.
@BSJ You like void against Wraith King? WK is my go-to pick against void. WK has two lives and is tanky, so void cant kill him in the chrono, because WK just respawns. And if WK goes for radiance, WK is killing your team if he is surviving. Plus WK has an additional stun void has to worry about. Am I missing something here?
Can someone tell me why BSJ put quelling blade and band of elvenskin in backpack at 22:05 while farming the small camp on dire mid lane? Didn't this reduce his Agi and damage and thus reducing his efficiency a bit? Thanks.
Honestly, I have the same sort of mentality when playing void. @BananaSlamJamma what do you think of the Aghs + shard combo? I feel like I win almost every game when i get to that timing like 3rd or 4th item. So much control. I go the timewalk cool down and its like a guaranteed AoE stun on a 6 second cooldown with almost no commital. then again, im only 4k lol just my 2 cents.
Pretty sure the tankiness build is probably bad now, with the sange nerf and all talents of void reworked to be around his abilities and chrono, icefrog pretty much forces you to go the chrono build. Btw the new talents kinda suck tbh.

Good in theory but Void struggles to slot it in, you want maelstrom for farming then into a package item like SNY or Manta. Maelstrom + echo makes you too squishy in fights without chrono
Thanks so much for the guide, really makes sense. I dont play void or carry a lot but when I do, its not clear which items to go for since I feel void is so fragile and position sensitive hero. My team is often upset at me that I dont contribute to fights as much but after I pop my chrono I often feel useless vs certain heroes or the enemy team is playing really well. I really hate it when my teammates guilt me into fighting while enemy carry free farms or just shows up for ganks.

Fwiw void bash is an infinite geometric series with a common ratio and first term of 0.24, so the sum (actual probability) is 0.24/1-0.24 or 0.316
