Hi friends! Thanks for watching... Leave me a comment letting me know if you like coloring with colored pencils! :) Be sure to check out the blog post and full supply list here: bit.ly/2UMYyS9
Simon, After watching your video , I ordered gamsol and a blending pen. It's been sitting on my desk for weeks now. Today I happened to watch Jennifer McGuire using coloring pencils with gamsol. Well I filled my pen and tried it, and I am in love. It is incredible. I have been wanting to get some markers to color with, like zig or arteza cause I can't afford the copics. But after using gamsol I am so happy. I can use my color pencils now and be happy. God bless you Simon for helping me. You shine.
Thanks Simon for showing the new DIY marker...it makes for a much smoother finish with the pencil crayons. I love your card by the way ! Thanks for sharing xx
And now I am jumping by to say...... You are Awesome to watch!!! Love your stamp set too!!! Thank your for the inside scoop on using the gamsol marker!!!
I love using colored pencils and saw this blender on another blog quite some time back. I use the sticks.. I have to now get this new and improved blender. thanks for the tips on filling it.
I love the original from creating unique effects on my alcohol ink backgrounds, but the new one will definitely up my color pencil game! Thanks for sharing!
Hey Simon, thanks for the great youtube! Its amazing that you drew this when you were 11yr old! Gah! And your dog barked as you worked on this card, lol. That bird really does look terrified! The new marker looks great! I have the old one. Take care
Can't wait to get that pen!! I love colored pencils and gamsol - but I do kinda hate those blending stumps - thanks for sharing about the updated marker - I have the older version, but it was awkwardly bulky to use.
I really enjoyed this. Thanks for the explanation on how to use the marker and the gamsol. As I was watching, I had a couple questions in my head and you answered them ! I wondered if the tips came out , if the pens were refillable and how to get the gamsol in there. You're a good instructor to cover things like that. Also - I love those stamps - sooo cute. Happy Day.
Hello, my friend - hey, we use those "disposable" eye droppers when we play with alcohol ink - they work awesome! And I was just playing with my Chameleon colored pencils this morning! I'm so glad to see you using them!!!
What a fab tutorial! Thanks so much for sharing Simon, those Chameleon pencils look like something I need 😳 And love your idea about Gamsol in the blender pen. I’ll definitely be using that awesome tip 😉
Thanks for the video. I subbed, and decided to fill a tombow colorless blender pen with alcohol 👌 it's GREAT for blending my Oil based colored pencils! I also use gel pens for shading and it works fab!!! I avoid oms and any kind of turps and found out with a great deal of fanfare that I get better than by with an alcohol glycerin blend. Great work showing the ack! I'm investing in a large 100 alcohol markers, student grade but well rated. I making greeting cards and colored images for them is a wonderful time of all media.
Great video! I've had the Chameleon pencils since they were released and they are by far and away the best pencils I've ever used! I'm glad you showcased them! BTW, so far, that's my favorite stamp set too! :)
I haven't had the opportunity to shop your stamps, however, I Love the story behind your line of ink and stamps. I, too, am a Real Animal lover... and, artist. Your videos are very cool.
I have coloured pencils, however, I need to get this pen. Apparently, it was a good thing that I procrastinated: I'll get the improved pen. Odourless mineral spirits (gamsol) aren't really odourless. The expression on that bird is hysterical :)
What a sweet set Simon and I love your card. I have the older version of that marker but it never occurred to me to get one for Gamsol, an awesome idea and I wasn't a huge fan of the bullet nib either so I love the new version. I'll def. be getting one for my Gamsol. The Chameleon pencils are what I am thinking of buying as well. How do you feel they compare to the others that are available? The price point is def. better but I wasn't sure how they ranked against the others. Any advice? Thanks in advance.
I have the old style pen with odorless mineral spirits because of your previous video. It is a TOTAL game changer. It is awesome. I will say, thought, I totally over-filled the pen the first time. If that happens, you will know, because the pen drips all over the place. The fix? Take the cap off of both ends and set the pen in a cup. Let the excess drain. When it stops dripping, it's good to go. I thought I would share in case someone has had problems with this and didn't know what to do.
I just bought your new christmas set and the hey dude set I have made 3 cards and gotten so many great comments on them....its been years since I used gamsol... I already have those pencils so ordered the gamsol and the refill pen (which i have never tried...looking forward to it....) also I got carried away ,(having so much fun with these 2 sets I was bad and ordered the tramoline set and the surf set....HEY DUDE your costing me a bundle!!!! lolI really love putting all the heads on the bodies and now that cute girl.....someday maybe the mermaid and merman...lol have a great day...
Thanks for tips. I would discourage kids from using gamsol however as it’s s volatile substance and should be used with care and in a well ventilated area. Since it’s odorless, important to use with care.
Thanks Simon, I might have to breakdown and buy those markers. I am no very good at coloring so this just might work. Can you tell me the name of the shop in Neenah? We just don't have a lot of craft stores in Wisconsin and I thought I had been to them all. I think I will have to check out the one in Neenah. Thanks so much for this great tip. Thanks Simon
Hey there Simon :) It looks like the new diameter of the barrel would be much more comfortable in the hand than the old one.....old and a little arthritic hands here speaking....couple of questions here: #1 I was wondering if the ounces on the container would correspond with the measurements on the pipette making it easier to know how much to add? The pipette is a great idea!!! #2 Have you tried the gamsol with the more inexpensive colored pencils like Crayola brand? That would really make the "marker look" really accessible :) Your card is absolutely adorable...love it!!!
works with all coloured pencil, I got mine from Riot if you have one of those stores nearby, was around $15 but it was a bigger bottle than this, and didn't come with paper blenders but they're usually pretty cheap too
Brilliant ideas! I am a Brit living in northern Portugal and have never found good craft shops here so use Amazon. Now I know we have different tax laws but those Chameleon pencils? $27.84 in the USA. In the U.K.? $62.66 !! Ouch! So far have only found the pen on eBay...from the USA with postage charges twice the price of the pen! I will just have to wait and see if the prices drop in a while.. I was hoping to be able to colour in tiny stamps more easily. I bought Chameleon markers but they are not that fine and I found that staying within the lines in tiny parts was virtually impossible! Back to the drawing board! Lol! Thanks for your great videos though and please keep up the good work!
@@simon.hurley Thanks for the response! I made the fatter marker using the syringe (your older video) and it seems like it was evaporated and dry pretty quickly. I'll try again with this new thinner marker and try to be sure the cap is on tightly!
Maybe i can try color pencile again like this. I used prisma colors pencils and the stumps and wasn't smooth at all. Maybe ill try these pencils and that marker. Also you burped lol. Yes i got it. Around 14:40 to 14:60 around that time. Btw like that stamp set
Stop being about buying my stuff and ideas, you were much more sincere when you were about the art, now you're a salesman and I almost want to unsubscribe to your channel. Great success to you, I do adore you but......

Are they regular colored pencils or watercolor?
Is that blending pen suitable to use in Bible journaling?

Thank you for sharing such a great idea for blending colored pencils. I enjoy your enthusiasm and admire your talent!
I love using colored pencils. What a great idea to fill the pen with gamsol !
Thanks for sharing...
If I hadn't watched, I would have thought it took you much longer to color these. They look great! Awesome!
Oh yea the marker is definitely being added to my blending supplies! Wonderful! Thank you Simon 🙂
Great tips. I learned something new, thanks!
This is a great idea. Will have to get the gamsol & marker to try with my pencils. Also love the stamps.
What a great idea!! I love watching your videos & the awesome tips & ideas you share! I’ll have to try that pen!
What a great idea Simon ... thanks so much for sharing ... and love the card!! :-)
Thanks so much for sharing this new tool and how to fill and use it! I love the detailed info you give in your videos!
I love the original from creating unique effects on my alcohol ink backgrounds, but the new one will definitely up my color pencil game! Thanks for sharing!
Cool idea! I love my colored pencils but this looks better than the blender pencil I currently use. Thanks for sharing this tip!
Great video! Already put the new pen on my want list. Thanks for sharing, Simon.
I love the "storybook picture" softness that coloured pencils give... I don't know how else to describe their appeal to me.
@Debbie Bassett check out paulabella66 on Instagram. She has always been my pencil crayon colouring idol.

Hey Linda. What fun to hear Simon mention our little town and your store! (Marguerite)
@@peggiescraftcafe7117 I know, right?! Simon is so awesome and I'm so glad he's enjoying those pencils!
I have two of them(game changer). Thanks for demo.
Yes! And it is so true about not over filling. Ask me how I know!😀
cool idea simon love your trampoline!!!

Thanks Simon, had no idea. Good to know.

Could you also fill a water brush with Gamsol to use to blend colored pencils?

Great idea Jennifer McQuire does same DIY with gamsol

That’s a parental responsibility.
Are you using watercolor paper or marker paper, or just regular card stock?
I enjoyed this video and I have the old Blender. Will have to get the newer one:-)
I need to get me some gamsol and this pen. My blending markers that I got from Stampin' Up are drying up big time. This would be perfect.

Hi all. I live in Australia and can’t find this marker. Can anyone suggest where I can buy this? Thanks.
Wonder if you could put Gamsol in an empty Copic O pen. Do you know?
Hi Simon, thanks for sharing.... are the pencils you used watercolour or normal coloured pencils? Cute card too 🌻🐬
louise carlin they are colored pencils. I’ve used these for as few years and love them.

Would a Copic blender work the same? Will this technique work with any type of pencil crayons?
Copic would be alcohol and he put gamsol in it so dont think it would work for color pencils but I could be wrong.
Thanks, I've just never heard of gamsol
@@JaimieMadison
@@kathylapp7665 oh really. You will have to try it.
Great idea. I would not have thought of a marker. Thank you!
Looks a lot easier to use this marker than the nubs and gamsol 😊
I did this when I saw it on Jennifer's video..thanks
The gamsol evaporates sort of quickly though. Have you found something to combat that?
I found that it doesn't evaporate quickly inside the marker that is airtight. :)
@@simon.hurley Thanks for the response! I made the fatter marker using the syringe (your older video) and it seems like it was evaporated and dry pretty quickly. I'll try again with this new thinner marker and try to be sure the cap is on tightly!
Couldn’t access supply list. Any ideas?
I didn't know chameleon has colored pencils! This got me excited! Can you use this technique with school-grade colored pencils?
Yup! It will work with most colored pencils. :)
Cool!!! 🤩🤩🤩
Maybe i can try color pencile again like this. I used prisma colors pencils and the stumps and wasn't smooth at all. Maybe ill try these pencils and that marker. Also you burped lol. Yes i got it. Around 14:40 to 14:60 around that time. Btw like that stamp set
If that pen is an alcohol blending pen how do you get an empty pen to fill with Gamsol?
They come empty, you buy the blending solution separately then fill it.
Can you purchase empty markers?
Whoever hit thumbs down...Hun, be any flavour. Just don't be salty 🤷♀️🙄
Why don't people just replace the nibs with the ones they want? Don't need a whole new gadget to swap out nibs! Insane in the membrane.
I am that bird.
