Or when I was drawing my favorite character and I am literally suffering cuz what are colors? Also how to do it right? And why does it take more time than it's supposed to damnit.
That's still me to this day sadly. But I have improved,I'm not tracing like I was in 4th grade 😂 (by tracing,I meant copying a picture, not putting a sheet of paper on top of it)
I am 88 years old and working on my blending techniques. i havent colored in over 49 years and im having a wonderful time. Thank you young man for this wonderdul helpful video. ❤️. Happy holidays to all here on the tubes. 🎁
Him: *uses colorless blender* Me who doesnt have one: alright white colored pencil it is ive learned my lesson that white colored pencil gives off a different effect thanks :D
White pencil still works but it creates a different effect. It lightens any colors you use so it'll blend great but only if you're blending for the purpose of getting a lighter finish. Colorless blenders are pretty cheap. It also works better in distributing the pigment evenly. Great for burnishing and after you blend you'll have to add another layer. You can also blend with a similar hue. Different methods achieve different things so it's good to have different tools at your disposal
This is definitely a video for people wanting to know how to blend coloured pencils, and even for those who are experienced and are reminded of the different techniques that can be used. I have also shared this video. This video has so much polish and the video editing quality is superb. As always Will, this is so professionally set out.
"Art shouldn't be painful." Oh, honey, art is the most masochistic gift/talent/pastime. I routinely murder my back, shoulders, arms, hands, and head whenever I draw.
This guy is one of my favorite art youtubers, hes straightfoward, gives the perfect amount of info needed to do a technique, and everything you should look for in an artist!
My middle school art teacher would beg to differ. She made me HATE ART. She had me crying almost daily. She would literally tell me how horrible I was. I hated her. I’m now 34, and just now starting to get some confidence back.
Well, you remember the time when one dude got rejected at art school and take over almost entire Europe? Haha just messing around. That teacher is cringe
Oh sht your experince made me to recall my art school like I start my basic art in Elementary Chinese traditional drawing with my private tutor and that lacks the perspective ( it was only about far and close ) then I went to art school every son of beach just laughing at me says don’t draw that sht some sort of things.
And art class (usually together with P.E and music )in Chinese school are often been replaced by main subject(language, math, psychics, chemistry etc). Just one time out art teacher does not get sick( most common excuse for those main subjects took over these classes) and she was teaching Anime and Celluloid so she played spirit away on our class time and gave us a HW just draw an anime character.
And my father was like get pissed he just keep annoying me saying those “why are you wasting time go review the fucking main subjects” “it that has any use?” When I am 100% focuing on my interest. And this sht is the one who send me to my private tutor by saying “writing or drawing pick one” just for his can acquire his vain glory before others faces. Then I get my interest on art again after things happend in art school so he give me this.
Burnishing to me is the easiest and smoothest! Layering often leaves a lot of white spots, colorless blenders don’t work as well with darker colors, solvent can damage paper, saturation and tonal burnishing are good unless you don’t want to change the colors and powder blenders to me are a little difficult. Everyone has their preferred methods tho!
At first I didn’t Like how calm his voice was but as the video went on, his calmness made the words stick in my head better. GREAT TUTORIAL super informative
I don't know if it's just the colours you used but I think that burnishing one looks great. Have you done a video of how to draw what you actually see rather than what you think you see?
I have a few drawing tutorials about hands faces and anime, in those I explain that my drawing techniques are universal and I just apply the same method over and over again. but I may try to come up with a fresh drawing tutorial.
If you take a look on the thumbnail instead, there you can see a better difference between the simply burnished and the others... It looks way more smooth in the video
I had no idea there were so many possibilities with colored pencils. Thank you so much for explaining and demonstrating these different techniques, and how they might be used. I just got a book on colored pencil use and some Prismacolor scholars so I’m super psyched to get started! Yay! This makes me even more excited because I really love the effects that are possible!
Shared to my youngest son. He is an up & coming artist along with a tattoo apprenticeship! I hope no one looks at this in the beginning and feels like, 'Wow its just a basic tutorial!' and stops watching. Your videos are so informative and concise as well as professional. Thanks so much for sharing your talents, knowledge, tutorials, supplies, and much more.

I am 43 years old and I just started really getting into art last year. I've always wanted to do so much, but never had time to. I started learning to paint with acrylic paint and absolutely love it. However, I recently got a new set of colored pencils and have honestly never really used them before. I always used markers, especially alcohol markers. Thank you so much for this video my man!! It answered a lot of questions I had and you made everything easy to understand. And I absolutely love your hair too. I am now subscribed and can't wait to watch more of your stuff. 🙂

Short and concise while also explaining different ways to blend and how/when to use them!! I only knew about layering, but now I'm also planning to use a few of those burnishings techniques! I've started with some saturation burnishing and it's doing so much to bring the piece out of the ugly stage and towards something I'm satisfied with. Thank you!!

My art teacher was great and taught me a lot, but I only took that for a year and could definitely use more practice lol. I'm still basically a noob here and feel stuck not being able to get the desired textures I want, so this is great. Thanks so much!! :D
Hi, there! This video is absolutely awesome! I've been wanting to take my colored pencil game to the next level, and this is just what I needed. Also, I really enjoyed your way of teaching. ok just the amount of time and material one goes thru while blending is enough to justify why art is expensive! Like jeez imagine doing lots of heavily blended large scale colored pencil work. Best wishes and good luck 🤟😀👍👍."
I took a year in art class, and I learned things like layering, burnishing and stippling as I went from only drawing stick people to more advanced things like vases, skulls and fruits. My art teacher was great and taught me a lot, but I only took that for a year and could definitely use more practice lol. I'm still basically a noob here and feel stuck not being able to get the desired textures I want, so this is great. Thanks so much!! :D
Wow, how beautiful each of the 7 methods are. Beautiful! Thank you.
Very helpful for me as a beginner. Thank you for sharing
That's what i'm here for ^_^

ok just the amount of time and material one goes thru while blending is enough to justify why art is expensive! Like jeez imagine doing lots of heavily blended large scale colored pencil work. And people get offended when artists charge for their work!
Great tutorial! I definitely learned the whole time while watching! Also you have such a calming voice!
"Art shouldn't be painful" should've told me that a few days ago
"Art shouldn't be painful." Please tell that to all my professors at my art school.
