5:20 using a stencil to remove color ! Great ! Plus the foam applicators used to remove color ! I had not thought of these 2 "reverse" processes. And I love the crayons because they give me control of drawing with the watercolor effect when adding water 🖍 As always, I truly enjoy your tutorials ! Nana in se OK usa 🙋
Your joy and enthusiasm is so contagious, the demonstration is brilliant. It takes us step by step into new methods and techniques. Your warm easy manner encourages us not to be afraid to try new things. Wonderful to watch can't wait to work and try these products. Thank you. 👏👏👏
Ohhhhhh...that second example is beautiful. I haven't ever thought about these crayons but.....seeing this video think I might try them. Thank you so much!!!
Enjoyed the video. You shared so much information. My favorites was the "messy painterly" background, doodle print of the residual crayon on the stamp. And the painting in the flower.
I have had several packs of Tim’s Distress Crayons for about a year, but have barely used them. You made some really great cards here! My favorite was the one with white foliage background! I love your stencils!
@@simon.hurley I liked the watercolor type painting you did on the flower the best. I have had distress crayons for years and have only used them a couple of times. Time to pull them out again! Thanks for the tutorial.
Great techniques with Distress crayons! The "Loo" is one of favorite stencils which you have made, so it's probably my favorite card. Another great video! Thanks, Simon!
Loved them all but the last flower one was my favorite. I have seen these crayons but had no idea how to use them. Thanks for sharing these ideas and techniques!😄
Love all you ideas and the school scribbles stamp is sooo cool!! Thank for your awesome tips and ideas! Oh and my fav card was the flower! Super beautiful!
Thank you for the great tutorial! I got a bunch of distress crayons for my birthday and I’ve never used them. Now my mind is spinning with ideas! I really liked the circle kind of rainbow smudging you did and also the way you lifted some of the color off with the blender brush.
Ok, I have to pull out my distress crayons again, they haven’t been used in a long time. Thanks for reminding about coating the cardstock, had forgotten that! Love all the designs, especially the flower. So excited for your new products to be available.
Hi mate...love you demo..I've been trying to get my 8yr old Grandson into this..gave him Jane Davenports..Whimsical & Wild book..he loves it so next I will get him some of your awesome products...his Birthdays Dec so he'll just get some happy mail...🇦🇺🦔🦘🐨🦎
love the tip using a foam with water to remove the crayon using a stencil. I've been doing this painstakingly with a cloth, so definitely going to try your quick version - awesome :)
Great cards! I loved them all! Thanks for sharing! I need to play with my distressed crayons again. It's been a long time and you have inspired me with great ideas to try. Have a wonderful day, Tammy 😇
I love Tim’s distress crayons. You are so right about their creaminess. My grandson and I like to get them and our Gelatos out and play play play! Well, We play until papa gets home then Carson forgets all about Nana and I’m left to play by myself! Lol!
Love the background created with The Loo stencil and I appreciate the tip on using a wet blending foam to remove the color on the leaf stencil background. TFS... I enjoy your enthusiasm and watching your talents bloom and grow. Congratulations on the success of your own line of products! Have a great day! :-)
Thanks for this! I have had the crayons for a while (purchased for a challenge) and wasn't sure of options for using them. I love using the water on the foam tool to remove color. SO EASY with beautiful results! :)
Loved your video! You show such great ways to mix cardmaking up! I really love your stencils and have never used distress crayons, but watching you use them makes me want to give them a try with the stencils. I loved your leaf one, but also the one with the flower stamp. Can't wait to purchase them. Make it a great day which you have and TFS. :)
New subscriber here! 👋🏻 You came yo in my recommended & I clicked on because Distress crayon were in the title. I’m not a card maker, but love the techniques that you demonstrated with the Distress crayons. 👍🏼 I must get your leaf stencil, that was my favorite. Thanks so much! From South Carolina!
Wow Simon you talk about the Tim Holtz distress brushes and they're out of stock already at Simon Says Stamp. I never really considered distress crayons, but I'm going to give it a try. I liked the rainbow background with your new stencil The Loo.
Hello Simon! I really liked the card where you used your leaf stencil. My favorite fabric is a black background with florals on top. As opposed to underneath? LOL the closest that I have seen anybody come to this is when Jennifer McGuire used a bunch of different embossing powders and embossed on black cardstock. But, there has to be another way. Maybe a better way? Is this something you could help us with?
I love all the cards. I have used Tim Holtz crayons in the past, I loved doing that. then I got into making planner videos. I really wanted to give it a go again with the crayons, using the ones I have and also I picked up more. When I would use the watercolor paper and I woud put the crayon down, I used a baby wipe to move the colors. But I see you prepare the water color paper. Could I only use the clear gesso to prepare water color paper? Is that all you use? Hear from you soon. Thank you. I loved all the cards you decorated! I will give those a go also. Thanks for the inspiration. I only need to know about preparing the water color paper.
I saw chairs today that have the same pattern as your bathroom tile stencil. So, how to make this. Start with a pale grey paper with slightly darker stripes. Using a dark grey over this with dark grey. In each center, add orange and yellow dots alternately.
Gr8 vid, Simon. Gotta say that water color paints are kinda old school when u have the crayons, unless you need a color that the crayons don’t provide. All you need are inks and crayons. Also, the crayons have so many more uses. PLEEZ be careful with that Wagner heat tool. No plastic guard tip on the end. I got burned twice 🥴. Not my fave tool when there are sooo many others to choose from
I loved all of your cards....I just could not pick a favorite. I do have a couple of questions. What was in the bottle that you squeezed after applying the paste onto one of the cards? Also, you said something about the backgrounds are still water reactive after it dries. Is there any way I can seal it so it won’t?
This is the 1st time I’ve watched one of your videos!! You have a great presentation style!! Love how you move right along & skip portions of content not necessary to see (like taping down your stencils, for example.) I got EVERY set of distress crayons for my birthday & I have watched TH, some other random videos & just not getting the results I want. My main question to you is: Do you ever use the distress glaze to seal colors after your finished? This is the 1st video I have seen someone seal with gesso before coloring. I believe my problem is I keep expecting them to be pointed like crayola crayons-to get into detailed spots!!! Well, that’s definitely not the case! Here is what I would like to achieve: I have a gorgeous stamp of the Eiffel Tower covered in Flowers and the sentiment says, “Paris in the Spring.” I adore this stamp & want to single in on getting the crayon pigment VIBRANT on the flowers. Used a little pointed sponge & put some on one flower (want lots of different colors) and blended. But I must be getting too much pigment because it does not stay within the line. That would be fine to run together if a background but this is my focal point. Adding water & just dabbing the color in works better but I lose the Vivid color I want. I use a brush to lightly apply distress glaze & love that look! I guess I’m asking what kind of tool or applicator can I use to get precision color in certain areas? It shows that you are very enthusiastic about what you do-that is refreshing!! I subscribed-so I’ll watch some more of your examples!! Thanks & have a great day!
Great video, tips, and cards. Did you use Gesso to seal the cardstock, because it wasn't water color cardstock? Or why? And do you have to heat set after you use distress crayons with the stencil to prevent color movement? thx
I hope you enjoyed the video... Comment below which card is your favorite! :)
