I really appreciate how different this video felt than the rest of them, in that there's a lot of...quiet? I don't know how to describe it. There's just like a lot of moments where the camera is just on and Chris is cooking and it feels very relaxing, but also still informative. Like it was really good for me to see how long he actually blended everything since it was such a short amount of time. It made everything look a lot more doable by an average person and less chef magic.
I couldn't agree more! I feel it also has something to do with the time they filmed this. It's almost dark out with soft lights in the kitchen. Loved the vibe of this video!
I don’t know why, but I feel like Chris needed a big hug (or some chicken soup) when this was filmed. I hope he (and everyone at BA!) had a good holiday break!
The way BA chefs (I’ve seen Molly do this in another video too) just casually dip their fingers in boiling or near-boiling water (to taste whether its seasoned) is both scary and amazing.
I absolutely love how Chris came for whole wheat pasta. We are cancelling try-hard, fibrous sadness in 2020. The god of flavor himself has spoken; it's gnarly.
yeah like Batman said, it’s more that this isn’t the recipe to be using whole wheat with because its flavour can compete too much with the other ingredients
I understand that some people do that because they have to but I always feel for them. I prefer listening to my body and eating what I feel I need to. This is my happy way of life 😉
Is it weird that I’m attracted to him? The way he carries himself is just so endearing. Everything he says has a point, he never rambles. He’s so smart oh my goodness

I cook pesto in the summer when I have a lot of greens hanging around. Never have done Kale before but I will try this. I've found that serving pesto with a side of fresh summer tomatoes, just as wedges surrounding the plate, is the best way to eat those beautiful tomatoes you get in late summer without having to cook them.
If someone said "You must open a culinary school - who's you head instructor" - it's got to be Chris. He's the professional's-professional. He would be so patient. But he would also hold a standard.

Chris!!! You’re a rockstar sir! Soo mellow and even keeled all the time but also so definitive in how he believes things should be done! Love the video and will definitely try this recipe!
I have to say I love that Chris takes his time when he talks. This was a 17-minute show and he was deliberate and calm with his words. It's great to listen to and watch. I'm not a fan of pistachio, I'm not a nut fan I think. I really only like 4 nuts almonds, peanuts, cashews, and pine nut. And Pine nut needs to be very good for me to eat them. I think I will try this with pine nut. I have to make it for myself since my husband doesn't like pesto.
I made this today, literally as soon as I saw this, but I could only find cashews for the cheap and MAN OH MAN... the cashews after soaked for about 30 minutes are so amazing in this. 10/10!
I love Chris’s energy in his videos! Some of the chefs can act a little cocky, I love that he’s really not like that, it’s about the food and being education and informative!
I'm 21 and have just recently started cooking a lot for myself, but after a year and a half of watching BA videos, it doesn't seem half as daunting, it just feels like I've done it all before! These recipes are great, and I'm really looking forward to trying this one! Thanks guys!!
Omg this Feel Good plan is what I need! I want to cook things for myself that are healthier, but I don't necessarily want to be on a strict diet, so this is great.
Like everyone else, I'm loving this format and the tone of the video. I think in part, it's because of the recipe. It has variables, and options, and explanations, which is why recipe videos are helpful in the first place. All the questions you might have, all the things that could go wrong, explained. Thanks Chris! You're amazing!

Can you explain your reasoning against the microplaning? Blender vs microplaned.
Love those plates, where can I get some for my kitchen??? Thanks in advance ;)

All I could find was already minced garlic so how much would you say I should use?
Shout-out to the BA Test Kitchen cleaning staff that we always see but who are never acknowledged! They're important too!
I think the same with every video I watch. They are cleaning up constantly. Wouldn't be possible without them!
I want a show on them as another show is being filmed
Yesss thank you! I always notice them working in the background and I wish they'd get some recognition on camera sometime.

It’s the lack of ADHD edits, drum solos, and text pop-ups. Pleasantly chill.
@@CantankerousDave It goes really well with Chris' general vibe though. Just as well as the edits and pop-ups go with Brad's.

The way BA chefs (I’ve seen Molly do this in another video too) just casually dip their fingers in boiling or near-boiling water (to taste whether its seasoned) is both scary and amazing.
You can dip your fingers in boiling water for a few seconds and still be okay. It hurts for a few seconds. You will not burn yourself.
I’ve heard it called having “asbestos fingers” haha
Spend enough time in the kitchen touching hot things & you develop kind of a heat tolerance.
