My frat life in the early 80’s. I was in Delta Tau and we actually had Otis Day and the Knights play at one of our spring parties…best years of my life.
When this came out on video (.....) I rented it each weekend and marathoned it with friends during the entire weekend....can recite the entire movie including face impressions from each character...this movie is gold...it should be taught on schools as general education.
Serving in Australian Navy, on Patrol Boats 1983-6. No TV at sea so we had videos. The entire ship can recite the movie. Saw it daily for two years… Vale John Belushi.
Our Air Force son had a name tag made that said Stratton. He had quite a lot of fun with that. “Eric Stratton, damn glad to meet you” The area officer started asking questions about some guy named Stratton. Our son had to lay low for a while.
As it turned out I did the 7 year plan. Not the way I intended it, just the way it worked out. Years 2 ad 3 were the most miserable, the last 2 years were the most fun. Probably the most important thing I learned in 7 years was how to do college.
That's a great line...I like when NEIDYMEIR saids to Boone and pinto: how's it feel to be an independent sho n stern? And Boone saids : how's it feel to be an asshole NEIDYMEIR? ...and NEIDYMEIR saids: WHAT DID HE SAY???..cracks me up everytime....HOSS!!!
Saw this in the theater when was I 3 years old. Pop had no clue about ratings and he loved John Belushi so off we went. I swear there are scenes that they have taken out of the retail copies. What a great film.
What a great time it was. There were so many great movies to choose from. In those days, I saw more good movies in one year than I've seen in the last 15 years. And that's a fact !
In "Twilight Zone-The Movie" in the Vietnam sequence when the Army squad is walking through the jungle and suddenly stops and then fires all their weapons at Vic Morrow when he comes out yelling at them for help...when they are done firing and are all scared, high, and confused..one of them says "I told you guys we shouldn't have shot Lieutenant Needlemeyer!"....a line thrown in there by director John Landis...the same director of Animal House.
Brilliant film in every way. One of the genius moves was they scored this with a serious soundtrack, not a comedic one. That adds immensely to the end result.
@@monorail4252, lol. There's no way in the world they'd make Blazing Saddles today. I went to a school that was 99% black, we all laughed at how funny that movie was. It made way more fun of white people than it did of any race. In fact, that's who it made fun of the most, I've never understood why people don't get that these days.
@marcusaurelius8717 exactly we still laugh at Blazing Saddles today. It hasn't been "canceled", removed from viewing, taken out of circulation, they have censored some scenes but it is still viewable and could be made.
@marcusaurelius8717 the only reason blazing saddles couldn't be made today is because the GOP would be offended if they ever learned they were being made fun of.
I've always wanted to become a manager so I could go into a meeting on Monday morning and say to the assembled employees, "You're all worthless and weak. I’m 80 years old and three things I remember about 1978 was 1) jimmy Carter was the president and he was a disaster! I never voted For a Democrat again! 2) the Dallas Cowboys won the Super Bowl! And 3) Animal house was a box office success! Great laughs!
In retrospect, Carter wasn't that bad, circumstances and his attitude of Christian acceptance made him a target for RepubliCon operators who smeared him. That led to 12 years of RepubliCon malfeasance and incompetence that our country still hasn't recovered from.

One of National Lampoon's finest movies.😂😂😂😂😂

So many great lines but the best one is by Bluto: "7 years of college down the drain!"

Sadly, that's not what you think about when you see that film. Landis should have gone to jail, but that's a topic for another thread.
I just watched that again 2 days ago, awesome, did not catch that...but I do now...could not understand what he said , ? Thanks for clarifying that!

Yes they can
