  • I was looking for the perfect backup Internet service with no data limits and reasonable price for my home network. My main internet connection is from Comcast (2000/200) and the second best Internet service is from AT&T maxing out at 25Mbps/5 which is just plain sad. With T-Mobile 5G coming in at basically the same price, I figured it was a no brainer to give it a try and see if it was the secondary Internet service I was always dreaming of.
In this video, I discuss my overall impression of T-Mobile's 5G service, integrating it with my personal router running PfSense, disabling the built-in WiFi access point on the modem, and of course running some speed tests!

How would you hook up a router to it to get faster speeds if running slow. I heard this would help, have any idea?

Hooking up a seperate router on it's own does not provide faster speeds. Using a external router provides flexibility to integrate the t-mobile service into your network and utilize your own wifi.

Ping MS response (9ms) looks surprisingly excellent

The latency on the service is pretty good, anywhere from 10-20ms to the first hop. However, inside my house it fluctuates a bit too much for gaming. There were many times I forgot to switch my service back to Comcast during testing on my desktop, and I didn't notice the difference until I was downloading. I really hope the service stays like this for a long time!

I lol'd when you put the modem outside. That was my first question if that tank of the old plaster walls had any effect on this.
IMO - this is good for the digital nomad if I want to sleep and code out of the back of my car
