Here's a speed test of the Sagemcom Fast 5688W vs Arcadyan KVD21 vs Nokia 5G21 Gateways on 4G LTE, 5G Extended and 5G Ultra Capacity. T-Mobile has released a 3rd 5G Home Internet gateway, its call the Sagemcom Fast 5688W and it has a similar appearance to the Arcadyan KVD21. I will have many videos on this unit including external antenna install and testing, stock speed comparison to the Nokia 5G21 and the Arcadyan KVD21 gateways. I really appreciate your channel. I've just finished my two week T-Mobile trial period. This home wireless internet service tested out better than my Comcast plan for less money. I've watched most of your videos and found them extremely informative and helpful from the basics of using cellmapper to how to hook-up an external antenna. In my limited experience, the tip that I have found most helpful is to reboot the gateway from time to time. I know you did a video on how to automatically program rebooting, but that was way more than I wanted to tackle. I always click the like button and I have subscribed to your channel. Keep up the good work, It's appreciated.

I just received my TM Nokia Gateway (not very clean from the last customer) setup seemed smooth although the app does not think the gateway is configured. I am connected and getting 300 down and only 2-3 up. The uploads may be a deal killer but I will try moving the gateway around and loading more of my network on it. I did not realize that this was a wifi router. What is everyone's experience on using your existing mesh network for all of your iot devices? It will be interesting to see how Ring and Homekit perform on this. I am currently using Spectrum as they have been the only game in town for years. This definitely rivals them.

I installed MIMO antennas and my speeds are good. All my specs are good in Cellular metrics except SINR. On 4GLTE it’s at 3 and 5G it’s at 7. How can I make it better? I have a clear straight line of tower from my roof. It’s about 1.5 miles out but can see it clearly with no obstruction.

  • @IrnBruNYC

We had the Nokia model for about 18 months and it worked almost flawlessly. We live in a pretty remote area so we were very happy with the speeds we were getting. But something happened in the last month or so, I guess the gateway became very “buggy,” and I was frequently having to power it down and reconnect to get a decent connection. T-Mobile told us that we have the “very old” model and we should swap out our gateway with a newer model, so I did that today. The Sagemcom is awful. I cannot even run Speedtest. So now I guess I’ll have to try the third option and hope for the best. Does it come with external antennas or can I add one? The Sagemcom does not even support external antennas!

Now if I uninstall the antenna and reinstall the stock ones it works fine (slower because weaker signal) but when I reinstall the antenna the modem sees improved bars but won't output any internet to my other devices. Another issue is I factory reset the tower and now it won't let me set up my own network name so I can't see metrics at the moment but I'm getting 36mbps down on stock antenna which isn't bad. But had over 100 with the proxicast when it worked. They are going to send me a new device so I'll try again on that one.

just signed up for T Mobile Home Internet. A lucky shot I would say.
Got it connected and started monitoring speed, the results: some good ones and some very bad ones. But the bad ones over passed the good ones (speeds around 1 or 2 Mbps).
After calling CS three times I realized that they had no answer to such erratic behavior. They sound nice over the phone, interested in resolving the issue, but not solid recommendation beyond "did you try different spots in the house?" A ticket was created but... no answer given... To what I completely found unacceptable and decided to return the equipment.
Btw, I have seen a lot of videos here and I find interesting the fact of several of them addressing issues like : add an antenna, a router, change this and that, go to a website and do... etc.
Who is to do that? I find those videos irrelevant for what they implied.
The customer simply wants a product that works closed enough to what it is advertised... simple...

Later in the day -- same gateway, same location, same external router -- I can get 30 down and 20 up. So much depends on the time of day. I find the mornings super fast before I start sharing the signals with other users on my TMobile antenna -- then it drops during the day. I have 2 gateways in different locations and find the same. I’m confused, those speeds are lower than I recall you talking about previously for t-mo, I thought you were getting 200-500Mbps? Or is that what you get with Verizon? I thought you said t-mo was faster? …anyway, t-mo is finally saying available for a limited number of ppl in my area, but, I’m not sure about it. I have the Verizon 5G box, but no 5G towers here, it gets anywhere from 5Mbps (or less) to nearly 40Mbps, but, the ping and jitter are great, it works much like cable internet. It’s just that when I ask Verizon when they are going to have 5G here they use terms like “diligently working” and “coming soon”, very non commital. I’ve been using it for, going on six months and still waiting on 5G, with them saying the same thing they said six months (edit: make that 7 months) ago. I also use my own router, the gateway is set up as basically a modem, I don’t think you can do that with any of the t-mo gateways? I don’t really care if the speed is only 50Mbps, it’s just me so that is plenty for what I do. I’m just not sure it will be a better overall experience. (But with my current Verizon service it can have difficulty streaming HD video during the day…small city, but, large tourist traffic). …OH, Nate, so, T-mobile don’t say “unlimited” nor 50GB, they say no data cap, at least before you sign up, but, you can’t use the service for certain things, the way it’s worded I think people were bogging the towers down doing crypto coin data mining (or whatever you call it) or maybe for web servers? So, I guess it’s back to unlimited but they aren’t using that term. Maybe you can read up on it and give us an update?
