    Great video. I was truly amazed by how much work and time is required to change the oil and filter. At the beginning I estimated that such work would end up costing $480 and it turned out that I was correct. Because of the complex build of this supercar there's a great deal of manual labor required to do the job here. It some ways it reminded me of work on an Air Force fighter jet. But given magnificence of this machine, it's certainly worth the time and energy. It's interesting that that are many Acura dealers that do not sell the NSX because they don't have the facilities and trained mechanics to service the car. The closest Acura dealer to me that sells and services the NSX is around 80 miles away.

    Great informative video! I was planning to get this 2020 NSX but now after I watched this video. I think my 911 oil change is simpler. Even got to fill the oil reservoir. 7 drain plugs.. hmm. I may consider the 911 turbos instead. How often you have to change oil on NSX? Every 10k miles what are the major service on this NSX? Cheers

    • @autodreams114

      Thanks! It's synthetic oil so it's good for about 7500 miles. At least that was the mileage where the car computer system told me to change the oil. I drive about 6000 to 7000 miles a year so that is just one oil change per year. Not bad.

    Great video. I know you said it took 3 hours, but I’m puzzled why it would take so long. Was the tech literally working on the NSX for 3 hours or was there some other stuff going on? Also $500 is not terrible all things considered, for a job done at the dealer on a high end car.

    Not bad at all. I could do it in about 3 hours with jack stands.
    Way easier than replacing the intake manifold on a Prelude SH.
    And I could do it for around 100.00. 30.00 for the oil filter, 10 for washers. 8 quarts of 0w-40 synthetic.

    • @averyalexander2303
      @averyalexander2303 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I never did an intake manifold on a Prelude but it's nearly impossible to change the manifold on my 05 Civic with the D17 engine, the nuts and bolts that hold it to the head are nearly impossible to get to even with the engine out of the car. It's not so bad now that I put a Y8 intake manifold on it though, it's a little bit of a pain to get it in or out because the manifold is so long the back of it is almost against the firewall but at least the nuts and bolts are easily accessible now.

    • @juanc5149
      @juanc5149 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Avery Alexander
      Similar problem, the bottom center bolts to the plenum, can’t be accessed from the top, because the manifold itself is on the way. Can’t be accessed from under the car, because the ATTS is in the way. Can’t be accessed from firewall side, because the plenum curves downward almost touching the atts blocking access. So, you have to undo a wiring harness, and move it, and you have enough room for maybe a ratcheting wrench, but then you can’t access the bolt because it’s partially recessed into the plenum itself. You must use a socket, but no room for a ratchet, to turn. You can try a swivel socket but it doesn’t have enough angle, same with swivel extension.
      People have just pulled the motor, before to get it. But I think a viable solution might be a 1/4 Tite-reach ratcheting extension, and either accessing from between an intake runner (if it’s skinny enough) or from driver and passenger side. I believe the 3/8 tite reach is too fat.

    lot people talking that to expensive or do it you're self well if you have the equipment to do it go on, but dont come crying that something went wrong or etc, you need good equipment and more for a expensive car that cost more than $190k brand new cause used nsx is about $140k i think or go to the dealer and paid like this one $200 bucks or go any oil change company that use low quality oil and filter and u paid $300 or $400 go for toyota camry or accord that's for sure its gonna happen and u get riffed up.

    A super car you can service is why I LOVE the Honda NSX.
    Try that on a McLaren Senna, you cannot even touch it. Seriously, the engine bay is sealed to ensure profit for the Manufacturer, the way of the future for most cars.
    Japanese are very honest and do not build as much if any planned obsolescence and design their engines to the best ability.
    Sealed Transmissions and Sealed Engines can be manipulated to ensure a rate of wear (due to inability to change the oil earlier or at cost effective ways past warranty) to break at a predetermined time.
    This Honda engine will without a doubt outlast other Supercars Hypercar engines including McLaren, Bugatti, Lambo, Zonda, Koenigsegg etc just by virtue of ability to service leading to actual servicing and early servicing removing any contaminants earlier.

Also call me anal rententive but imo he should've loosened and removed the oil filter cap before taking those drain plugs out. It retains some old (0.2qts) oil just like the metal canister filters do. So when he buttoned everything back up and loosened that cap you had some old oil go into that pan.
