Later that year he talked me out of my would-be first Diablo purchase, as he laid out the cost of dropping a V12, at Lambo rates. He said "...they might make 500hp, but the Italians won't do it for very long, before going wrong." ClumsyGarage the fact that people are mad about turbocharging cars is mind boggling to me, it’s fitted for a turbo which means turbos can be upgraded straight off without having to rebuild a naturally aspirated engine to fit a turbo. They made it a hybrid for instant torque, fuel economy is an added bonus, the 9 speed automatic was added over a manual for increased acceleration and instant shifts to keep a smooth acceleration from each gear. They engineered this car as a TRUE super car, completely evolved in every way from the previous generation. Sure a manual option would’ve been nice, I only drive manuals so I would’ve liked that as well and I completely agree with you about that, but everything about this car screams for the enthusiast driver and everyone’s ignoring the improvements and yearning for nostalgia which will never happen and that’s what I don’t get. As the future brings new tech for cars, enthusiasts should evolve to meet these new enhancements

I can’t stand those type of volume adjustments on the radio, my parents Honda Accord has that and it’s the worst especially if you need to lower the volume quickly without taking your eyes off the road. Call me old fashion but the spin knob volume is the best way for me still.
It's funny they yell at us for using touchscreens on our phones while driving but then put touchscreens in every friggin' car instead of tactile buttons/knobs you can easily use without looking, lol.
Volume knob was never broken, I don't know why anyone thought they needed to fix it. It really is so absurd that they're supposed to be making vehicles safer but yet you have to take your eyes off the road to do anything anymore like in some new cars where all the controls are on a touch screen including HVAC.
I figured this whole video must be a bit tongue in cheek at that point. But yeah, this is one of the worst "features" in my Honda Fit. How it could be a good feature on the NSX is beyond me. I hate it.
Agree with Doug. I don’t care it’s a v6. Not many predecessors have a v8 pushing 600hp. Especially for $160k(even at used resale prices). For Acura to achieve this on a budget in a v6 is phenomenal.
Probably not the interior though, but its debatable, but I would definitely buy it, I would choose this car any day, because this car was made to impress you, not others unlike Ferrari or Lambo

Damn, rewatching his old videos, I really appreciate the way Doug says "this" at the start of his videos now, like if he's putting effort into it compared to his older ones...
It's not often you hear Jay Leno simply say "I'm buying one" when he drives a car. A man that has an F1 and has driven all the big cars like P1 and 918 etc...and could afford any of them. Huracan...etc.....yet in that first drive of this car he signed up and bought one for his personal collection. And it got Harris' approval in a BIG way. He fucking loved it. Another guy who has driven them all. I think I'll take their opinions over you muppets who've probably never driven any of them.
No...they recognize it's an awesome car even when compared to the best of the best. All the chumps on youtube comments boards who are slagging the NSX....none have ever driven one, let alone compared it to cars like the 918 and P1. This NSX is a revolutionary car. Basically they're selling a (relatively) cheap regular production car that is only a small step below the 918/P1/LaFerrari but utilizes the same basic tech of electric support of gas engine. I bet the big three thought they would have way more time to market and sell this kind of technology and keep it on the "exclusive" end. But Honda comes along and basically says, fuck you...we can do that too. We'll build a six cylinder that basically rivals anything in your lineup short of your "hypercars" and we'll do it for 100K less than you. Now the big three are going to have to start adding this tech to their lower lines sooner than they thought.
It's pretty bullshit how the NSX is getting such negative press elsewhere, while the shitty BMW i8 is somehow loved by people. Let's compare the NSX to the i8. Price: i8 - 143k NSX - 150k Power train: i8 - 3 cylinder turbo, with electric motors. 357hp NSX - 6 cylinder twin turbo with 3 electric motors. 573hp 0-60 time: i8 - 4.4 seconds NSX- 2.9 seconds So, in conclusion, the BMW i8's performance is basically M4 level. The i8 is slow, has a inferior powertrain to the NSX, and costs around the same price. The NSX is getting supercars numbers, and technology wise, it's baby Porsche 918. The NSX is a 150k easy to drive, economic supercar killer, while the i8 is a useless overpriced plastic car.
shoo you can't take the price the i8 sells with all extra options and the price that NSX starts with (and you still took a lot less) and compare it. I would take the i8 anytime
The reason is simple: When you sit in the BMW i8 you feel as if you sit in a 150k car. When you sit in the NSX you feel as if you sit in a really fast 35k car. And now please do not come with 0-60 times. The Audi TT RS needs 3.6 seconds for that and costs a bit above 60k. If you want a good time to 60 for your money - buy the TT RS.
Sold a McLaren MP-4-12C to buy a new NSX. It was the best decision I ever made because the McLaren though attractive in many ways was an absolute nightmare to keep on the road. I don't care that McLaren honored the $89,000+ in repairs for the 11 months we kept it! Transmission failure/problems, oil leaks, LED taillights failing, instrument panel lights not working, ECU replacement (2X), leaking struts, creaks rattles, electrical gremlins, parts availability etc. etc. etc. Christ what a beautifully designed but horribly executed and unreliable vehicle. The POS like our Ferrari 348 spent more time in the shop than on the road! Getting into an exotic car and having it start and actually be capable of going on a road trip without having to worry about a problem is truly enjoyable. The NSX is far more reliable, great at everything and better than the McLaren (even when the McLaren was working). The McLaren was never a great car but, it was better (even great at) frustrating and completely ruining your driving experience with its constant issues and breakdowns. Never again.
Grow a thicker skin if the truth offends you son. Or better yet, go buy your precious McLaren and share the experience of ownership & breakdowns. Then we'll talk.@Taha-Amine Belogbi

I love the NSX exactly because it is unpopular. I've been to more than enough car meetings and I've seen more than enough Ferraris and Lamborghinis. They are mass-produced these days, and have become so common they are nothing special anymore. The NSX, on the other hand, is rare, exotic, and at the same time has true everyday utility.
Ikr. Usually when a car is unpopular there is usually a good reason and the car is too flakey (and might blow up or something). But in this case the car may be less popular but it has the fewest unwanted surprises. Kind of like the Lexus LFA.

@@mraeece therefore they are unreliable. Its like turbocharging an old reliable 1,8 liter with 190 hp to 350 hp. RIP reliability. Im amazed that thosd engines are mass produced now tho
Illew Menadeh they come with forged internals from factory and are easily good enough for 600bhp. They’re not unreliable at all.if they were unreliable and had problems then why would Mercedes use the same engine for the next generation of the car lol. This is Mercedes A45 we’re talking about, no common faults at all and an extremely popular hot hatchback in Europe. If they were unreliable then they wouldn’t be thjs popular and they wouldn’t be modded. Juan Velez the new NSX should have been priced starting at 85,000 - fully optioned at maybe 110,000. At 185,000 I can get a pre-owned 911 Turbo S in very decent condition.
😍 that was such a beautiful car review, Nsx is underrated though it competes with other hybrid sport cars at this price range. Glad you made a wise review ignoring the earlier coments. Thumbs up for the Japanese engineering.
Sir, it is american. "the new NSX was designed and engineered in Marysville, Ohio, at Honda's plant, led by chief engineer Ted Klaus." (from wikipedia to backup my knowledge on it) Thank me later
I find it hysterical that people call it ugly. If Ferrari was to slap their pretty prancing horse on it, they would be praising its "Italian Flair and precision" and "Italian craftsmen ship". They would be wetting themselves at showrooms and telling everyone how it's worth the $500,000 they would be selling it for.
The front of it looks like a Mazda 3. That mountain of mesh is fucking disgusting, and makes the car look like an economy car. The rear of it has that horizontal light line but they didn't commit to it like on the original car, like they were afraid to make it too interesting. It really does look like an accord coupe. Look at the aerofoil shape of the side windows. Look at those intakes at the rear quarter panels. Literally anybody could come up with that. It's like they took the average position and size of the features of every mid engined car ever and used that to make decisions. There is nothing to look at on this fucking car. It's got a cohesive shape, but no more than any modern family car. It's got bits of trim all over the outside of it that don't need to be there. Look at the fucking wing mirrors, what the fuck were they thinking?? Then look at the whole car. It doesn't break the mold in any way. This would be a really good design for a $50k accord type R. Or an altima coupe. This is the successor to the FUCKING NSX. It's a shockingly awful design.
ABCDE FGHIJK hell yeah man, I agree. They're not willing to accept or admit that these cars that are not designed by pininfarina, are exquisitely and meticulously crafted machines. I can only dream about owning a car such as that Acura. That is a gorgeous gorgeous vehicle but unfortunately it is way out of my budget for me to ever be able to purchase one
The gtr is a fat lard of a car and the nsx is a poor attempt at showing off their technology and COMPLETELY IGNORING what their customers have been asking for for 15+ years.
The reason this doesnt sell is its price, I can get a mclarean for the same price if they drop the nsx to 80 grand it will sell out faster then anything. The regular guy wants it while the rich guy says fuck this
I will say, I think the problem with the NSX is the same problem the Honda CRZ had: lack of understanding and swift judgement. These are partially hybrids, so people generally think of them as slow and unreliable and are often comparing them to a Prius. The way the Hybrid powertrain works couldn't be any more different though; It's there to assist with performance with the electric motor adding instant torque. It's almost like another form of forced induction where the instant torque from the motor adds a nice jolt when in the right gear. I almost didn't buy a Honda CRZ based on all the bad reviews. I'm glad I did though. It's fun to drive and when driven well in eco mode, it gets almost 55MPG. With the CRZ, reviewers either said the car was slow or poor on gas and it did neither well. I think it's a well balanced car. It is fun to drive with it's three driving modes and when pushed hard, it still averages around 32 MPG. I think it's really cool to see that a lot of the tech that's in the CRZ is also in the NSX. Maybe many people hate on these cars, but not seeing them everywhere makes them even more special to those who own them.
Amen. My CR-Z is the best balanced car I've ever driven. Great gas mileage and super fun in the twisties. It's worth noting that many of the bad reviews were of the ZF1 CVT which is a substantially less quick feeling car than a ZF2 manual.
Nah. The appeal to the CRX was the import scene... The cheap mods, the robust aftermarket, the cool factor and platform sharing. Parts were easily swappable from the Accord, CRV, Civic and CRX. All of these features were lost in the CRZ. I've owned BOTH body styles of the CRX. A 1986 and a 1991 Si... Both, of which, evoked passion from fellow Honda enthusiasts to make their cars BETTER, not to settle with mundane, which is what the CRZ sadly was. I had high hopes for it, having been a previous CRX owner. The CRZ was the CRX HF (high fuel economy) at best, but that wasn't what people wanted. And they never made a CRZ Si, nor was it upgradable. You gotta give the people something... The new NSX on the other hand, is an excellent all around supercar like an Aston Martin without the Armani suit and price. However it lost the simplicity that the original car had, and likewise, it's soul, in my opinion. Same with the CRX to CRZ. You can look to Porsche to see what I mean. The GT3 is STILL as analog as it gets (when it comes to driving), proving simplicity is still a highly sought after commodity in supercars. Honda, of all people, should have been able to pull that off.
Despite this car not selling very well, I really like it...the fact that switches are in places you would expect them to be is what I like most. You have your turn signals and wipers where thy should be on a car...you have your door locks and window controls where they should be. However, I don't really like those push buttons on the transmission and I don't like the way the radio has you swiping up and down to adjust volume. I would rather have a gear selector knob or even a typical gear lever. Other than that, i would probably buy this car if I could afford it.
Peter P. Doug sees that as a great feature, even though he's quick to rip on other high end cars for using generic shared parts, he likes it on this car. This "review" is definitely not a paid advertisement. Definitely not. No seriously, this review is totally legit! 😂
Jake Burns well that's pretty much saying that the Ford gt is basic because it is made by Ford when actually it is a racecar with a ton of different things
A better deal then just about every other supercar. Thanks for the review Doug. I'm looking at the 2019+ models. The NSX has too many pluses. Love the Ferrari 488 Pista and F8. 911 GT3 is nice too but this NSX seems too reliable to pass up on. People are also forgetting all those Porsches with 6 cylinder engines when they criticize the NSX.
I think the best options in the current day are Honda Civic Sis. But might I suggest a V6 Honda Accord coupe from around 2004-2017, which are possible to get with 6 speed manuals which I think can be comparable to Integra Type R performance and with the V6, they sound and can theoretically be a budget NSX
@noone : except all the run errors the 2017 has, and super expensive service schedule on an old engine design that needs retiring, and being too heavy... etc. Merc's are mostly shitty.
@@Chris-hn2md actually yeah, RSX and Integras had higher than normal death rates according to the IIHS stats. But I'm curious, how do you see the Integra for the current gen and how would it be different from the Civic Sport?
N8yi Gaming My '17 civic also has the same one, and it's absolutely crap. I wonder what went through the designer's heads to get rid of something so practical and easy to use as a rotating button and replace it with a slider that is absolutely unusable when on the highway.
I don't get people expectations of this car "Oh it can't beat a top of the line ferrari like the old ones, oh it's so expensive not like the original" Like... You expect a car from factory to give you ferrari level of experience and power for the price of 50.000$
Well... Its really simple actually, the 90s NSX was not on par with the Ferrari and Lambo it was objectively better around the track, and half the price of the Ferrari. The new NSX is not ugly but the old NSX is beutiful, and in appearance the new doesn't resemble the old very much. So that is why people expectations were so high up. I like the new NSX but i dont love it, if i want a japanese supercar i can get an Nissan GTR Nismo for the same price, and that will compete with the others, Acura or Honda should have mande a 100.000$ car that was better than the Ferrari and Lambo like his predecessor.
Adriano's Classic 500 it just costs triple of what the predecessor costs... so you would expect it to be a lot better and for some it isn't better at all.
After watching Doug's newer videos usually the same day they come out, then going back and watching this one...he didn't go into detail as much then but man was there some serious excitement and passion in the older videos. It's like he's more just doing it for a paycheck now, which I'm sure to an extent is the case...but still.
Rj D oh so that's why the car looks like the most generic piece of uninspired shit with no manual gearbox and is bulky/overweight and nothing like a real NSX should be.

Dear god I hate the internet....
Jonathan Diaz there should be volume control on the steering wheel.. my Toyota has it 😂
there is, but apparently for sake of complaining we have all forgot that.
The plus and minus buttons still suck compared to a knob, even though they are on the wheel of most modern cars.

@Yashua Fradkin it's not the money, it's the time to fix it. For people that can afford supercars, their time is worth more than money
They drive all the cars so.....they wanna try something else
Now the big three are going to have to start adding this tech to their lower lines sooner than they thought.
jay leno buys everything tho
He doesn't though.
Not to mention James May loves it too.
It's pretty bullshit how the NSX is getting such negative press elsewhere, while the shitty BMW i8 is somehow loved by people. Let's compare the NSX to the i8.
Price:
i8 - 143k
NSX - 150k
Power train:
i8 - 3 cylinder turbo, with electric motors. 357hp
NSX - 6 cylinder twin turbo with 3 electric motors. 573hp
0-60 time:
i8 - 4.4 seconds
NSX- 2.9 seconds
So, in conclusion, the BMW i8's performance is basically M4 level. The i8 is slow, has a inferior powertrain to the NSX, and costs around the same price.
The NSX is getting supercars numbers, and technology wise, it's baby Porsche 918. The NSX is a 150k easy to drive, economic supercar killer, while the i8 is a useless overpriced plastic car.
shoo anyone that loves the i8 is an idiot. That wasn't up for debate
shoo you can't take the price the i8 sells with all extra options and the price that NSX starts with (and you still took a lot less) and compare it. I would take the i8 anytime
MustangNismo1969 the i8 doesn't come close to the top speed of 0-60 of the nsx
The reason is simple:
When you sit in the BMW i8 you feel as if you sit in a 150k car.
When you sit in the NSX you feel as if you sit in a really fast 35k car.
And now please do not come with 0-60 times. The Audi TT RS needs 3.6 seconds for that and costs a bit above 60k. If you want a good time to 60 for your money - buy the TT RS.
I'd take an i8 any day. I'd prefer to have some class rather than something ricers take pictures of out of their Honda Civic.

Probably one of my favorite super cars because of how simplistic the interior is. Also it’s amazing how much up they can juice out of a 6 cylinder. The civic type r has 310 hp with a four banger

ABCDE FGHIJK Yeah, there's allot of hate towards this car, I personally like it, and if I could afford one, I'd get one...
ABCDE FGHIJK new nsx doesn't share A SINGLE FUCKING DESIGN LINE with any ferrari ever made. please check your vision, sir.

Lmao ahhh the gtr isnt a super car lmao it's a grand tourer
The gtr is a fat lard of a car and the nsx is a poor attempt at showing off their technology and COMPLETELY IGNORING what their customers have been asking for for 15+ years.
The reason this doesnt sell is its price, I can get a mclarean for the same price if they drop the nsx to 80 grand it will sell out faster then anything. The regular guy wants it while the rich guy says fuck this
The problem is the GTR selling at 100 and having more cred.

It's worth noting that many of the bad reviews were of the ZF1 CVT which is a substantially less quick feeling car than a ZF2 manual.
tru
Leon McDaniels o

Sweet $200,000 car and don't need to get use to a new radio, it uses the same radio in my sisters Honda Civic.

Peter P. Doug sees that as a great feature, even though he's quick to rip on other high end cars for using generic shared parts, he likes it on this car. This "review" is definitely not a paid advertisement. Definitely not. No seriously, this review is totally legit! 😂
i agree NOW you dont have to pay $5000 for a new one when it breaks!
Peter P wrong
Well you know Honda pretty much made this car...
The 911 GT3 can be had with manual =/, GTR or c8 will get similar performance for way less
holy SHIT Doug! An "Acura microfiber cloth". WHOA!
SQUEEZEEE IIIIIITT!!!!!
Jonah Glassenstein don't forget the funnel!!!
That volume slider in on the Honda Civic and everyone hates it.
sorry but I couldn't stop thinking of the Dinka Jester
Radox I was thinking the same thing. I’m surprised so one else in the comments mentioned it lmao
That’s where I’ve seen it I knew it seemed familiar
radoxdzn. Same here
when the jester was released the nsx was a prototype
Oh shittt I just thought of that too
I miss the Acura Integra Type R. Acura needs to make something more affordable.
Sir Classic get a Honda
The purpose of Acura is to be a expensive luxury Honda....
get a honda then
I think the best options in the current day are Honda Civic Sis. But might I suggest a V6 Honda Accord coupe from around 2004-2017, which are possible to get with 6 speed manuals which I think can be comparable to Integra Type R performance and with the V6, they sound and can theoretically be a budget NSX
Luxury and affordable dont belong in the same sentence
He never leaves Maserati Ghibli.
Yeah , mee too. I am a big fan of Maserati.
unfortunately the Ghibli was too 'cheap' on the interior, unlike other Maseratis which are one of my favs
These fellas are a whole different story
All I can say is 2017 Benz E63 AMG S-- Bar none!! ;-)
@noone : except all the run errors the 2017 has, and super expensive service schedule on an old engine design that needs retiring, and being too heavy... etc. Merc's are mostly shitty.
Shit if i had the cash u would have sold this to me. Thats a fact. This is a lambo killer and no one knows it
you mean if i had the cash id outbid you k
People complain it has a v6. THE OLD NSX HAD A V6 TOO
Edit: crap, thanks for the likes :)
Chris809//CarHunters lmao I don't remember anyone complaining it was v6 at all
Yes but that car didn't start at 150,000...
a ferrari at that time was barely 150k that is called inflation buddy
Chris809//CarHunters GT-R is a V6 but then again everyone knows the GT-R
knfjdkghjudfhsgkjdhf Its all about the power to weight ratio
"The coolest color"
Kurwa Red...
Ja pierdolę
lmao
O kurwa polacy
No właśnie coś takiego śie spodziewałem. :D
Reminds me of the Chevy Nova.
😂😂
Bring back the Integra, RSX for 2020
Those cars “killed” thier brand safety. But really both of those cars had high bodycounts.
@@spoada Really? A lot of people died from driving Integras tR's and RSXs'?
@@Chris-hn2md actually yeah, RSX and Integras had higher than normal death rates according to the IIHS stats. But I'm curious, how do you see the Integra for the current gen and how would it be different from the Civic Sport?
Kevin Spencer problem is American won’t buy it
in ten years the old one will be more expensive than this one. mark my words
Jamaican Me Crazy they all ready cost 45k+
Jamaican Me Crazy i wanted one i thoght id be able to get a nice on for 10-12k but hell no i seen em for 60k
Chief sosa the NSX cost 100,000
NEVER
Anyone can talk big about something that hasn't happened.
My moms Honda Fit has that volume touchscreen
savage
N8yi Gaming My '17 civic also has the same one, and it's absolutely crap. I wonder what went through the designer's heads to get rid of something so practical and easy to use as a rotating button and replace it with a slider that is absolutely unusable when on the highway.
N8yi Gaming I wonder why. It's not like Honda owns Acura or anything
N8yi Gaming. Worst thing I've ever seen. I lost all respect for Doug when he said it was cool as he was rubbing the screen like a clit. 😂
so does the 2016 hR-v
I don't get people expectations of this car
"Oh it can't beat a top of the line ferrari like the old ones, oh it's so expensive not like the original"
Like...
I like the new NSX but i dont love it, if i want a japanese supercar i can get an Nissan GTR Nismo for the same price, and that will compete with the others, Acura or Honda should have mande a 100.000$ car that was better than the Ferrari and Lambo like his predecessor.
smh all these internet warriors in the comment thinking they know best about why this car is too expensive or some shit lol
lmao u also watch doug
oh my look its falbere-san!
Lol awau you watch doug
Falbere!
Internet warrior, says the butthurt weebo wanker over opinions on the comment section of a youtube video👌🏻
Takes one to know one.
It almost feels like they paid him $15,000 just to make this video. Cause almost none of this stuff is actually cool....
ndgo I kinda like all of it. Though I think the mpg and the tiny electric motor should be laughed at in a doug like fashion
ndgo noticed how he tough the turn signs are so cool, lmao. smh
Robert Tang they don't seem particularly unique to me
The NSX isn't bad at all, like the new GT, people expect these cars to be worthy of the name. Call them something else and people will be objective :)
yeah, the only problem is it's not as great the previous nsx but has the same name...
Adriano's Classic 500 but the new GT is one of the greatest cars of all time this is a Ford Taurus with a weird grille
The new GT, while being a beast, is still disappointing to many compared to the old one...
yeah the new gt is only disappointing cuz it has a v6 instead of v8... but it still looks hot asfuck
Here is why the $200.000 fidget spinner is better than you think
Acura: The car isn't selling, what do we do?
Acura designer: I know! Add this little drawing, a scale model of the car and a little cloth!
Levian and Lekian 2 scale models if that makes a different opinion
The acura designer is a hot girl:O (true fact, see jay leno garage episode on thec car)
Rj D oh so that's why the car looks like the most generic piece of uninspired shit with no manual gearbox and is bulky/overweight and nothing like a real NSX should be.
devon285 design doesn't always convert to the guts in the vehicle
devon285 that's what I was thinking..it look like shit
That volume slider looks horrid
Drew Wolf because it's from a civic
Drew Wolf I thought it looked like a washing machine
Doug the type of dude to review his mother in laws quirks and features then give it a Doug score. 💯
Saw one today, looks pretty cool
Cutlass Gaming I have yet to see one, smh...
me too. lol
I got a chance to ride in one last night. It was amazing!!!
Doug the type of guy to eat pizza with a fork.
Dean G fuck, i do that
That's how the Italians do it
Dean G you’re the type to put a supercar picture but can’t even afford a ecoboost mustang
What can he say? its practical..
Dean G i do that
One bad song on the radio and suddenly your in track mode
"you're"
Gotta love that Japanese reliability and simplicity!
I don't think there's anything simple about a twin turbo V6 hybrid
