I am a hardcore Accord fan but this generation is just a disappointment.
    - Less hp than all Camry models, no fast turbo either
    - Cheap interior plastics that tick and rattle as much as a base Camry does
    - Unknown hybrid system that kept getting discontinued and relaunched multiple times by Honda and with partnered batteries/parts being made by GM now?
    - Very awkward blocky design language that was taken from other brands like Ford Taurus and Volkswagen

Honda two-motor hybrid system has become smaller, lighter, more powerful and more efficient with each generation. It consists of five core components:
Electric generator motor (functions as an electrical generator supplying power to the hybrid battery)
Electric propulsion motor (drives the wheels directly)
Atkinson-cycle gasoline engine (connected to the electric generator/starter motor functions as an electrical generator, supplying power to the hybrid battery and/or the propulsion motor)
Intelligent Power Unit (IPU) (houses the battery and its controlling hardware)
Power Control Unit (PCU) (the “brain” of the system controlling all hybrid functions)

Honda has more torque so you accelerate faster in normal RPM range. No one shifts at 6,500 RPM and that is where max HP is. HP wins races on paper Torque wins in real life. Also everyday driving torque is the more relevant , useful power. Drive both you will see.

If Honda still offered the 2.0t engine and their 10 speed automatic in their newer models, I’d consider it. It would be even cooler if they retained this same setup in a hybrid. Possibly more torque, power, and fuel economy lol. But it’s sad that all the models are CVTs which don’t sound as fun as a traditional automatic or manual.

Honda really dropped the ball with this accord design. It's just sad and simple. They tried to copy the Volvo look too much. Plus they don't even offer the 2.0t anymore. Where I'm at they're not selling. I walked into a Norm Reeves and they were offering 2,700 off MSRP and free oil changes for life. No up charges or mark ups.

Yeah I agree, Toyota has the XSE hybrid (which is the competing trim level) for just under 34k. Even getting the most expensive package it still comes in under the price of the accord. Even the V6 and TRD are still cheaper than the accord without options, with it is pushed slightly above, but arguably they don't have the same feature set as this accord
