What a refreshing video. No crazy effects, color grading or over the top music. Just some common sense opinion. I think Neewer is beating SmallRig on the R50 cage: less extra space and surprisingly easier access
I too wanted to add just a bit of bulk and heft to my R50, but not being a fan of full cages, I opted for a Tilta base. It adds about .6" to the camera's and grip's height, allowing me to get my little finger on the grip, but it adds nothing to the top and very little to the sides. Plus, it provides a full width Arca Swiss rail on the bottom and a 1/4" tripod mount for vertical orientation. For me, it's ideal.
The R50 is definately too small for my hands and I decided to sell it or return within hours. Then I tried it again and decided to hold off. I took it as a second camera on a small job. Every time I raised it to my eye, one or more settings had changed. So, I decided to sell it or return it. But the images were good. So I looked at what buttons my hand was hitting accidently and turned them off. Then I found out that to change exposure comp, I had to hit a button before AND after making the change. What???? Then I noticed the button actually switches the control wheel from aperture to shutter speed to EC (in manual mode) and keeps cycling between them. All without you having to take your eye from the EVF. Now, that is cool! It's a keeper! Looking for an extension grip or a battery grip now.
I have two gimbals, but haven't used them. I have decided that I am not a gimbal guy and that I will rely on the in body image stabilization on my Lumix GH6 for gimbal type purposes. That being said, I suggest you look at this gimbal www.zhiyun-tech.com/en/compatibles/index?type=website&page=second_nav&source=compatibles#/camera?pid=793&pname=WEEBILL%203S It is said to be compatible with the RR50, which should mean bluetooth connectivity between the gimbal and the camera. www.zhiyun-tech.com/en/compatibles/index?type=website&page=second_nav&source=compatibles#/camera?pid=793&pname=WEEBILL%203S There seem to be lots of excellent deals on ebay www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p4432023.m570.l1313&_nkw=weebill+3&_sacat=0
JB, I'm like you. I'm the same age as the president and I also have a R50 Canon camera. I just got a 18 to 200mm Canon lens. Have you ever bought an extension lens ring? The N/D filter's rim doesn't have enough for the lens cap.A lens hood is on order. BTW, my first camera was an Canon AE-1. I liked it so much that I got another. One for wide angle and one for zoom. One for B/W and one for color. On a shoot, I'd go thru say 3 rolls of 36 exp. Love taking pix. Now, I'm back in! I really like a digital camera, you don't have to wait for the film to come back. You can see how bad you shots are! haha
I recorded it with a Canon M6 Mark II. I only have one R50 and needed to use it in the video. The R50 matches or beats the M6 Mark II in video performance.
JB, when showing the simple pole handle, you have a contraption connecting it to the cage. was that the ball head? great video buddy! My R50 is on it's way, replacing my m50. Next on my wish list, the R8. Cheers!
I am pretty sure this is the ball head. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0B8CKD3TN/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Thanks for the positive feedback and enjoy the R50.

Can you provide a link to the Tilta base?
@@uncunvenchunalwisdomYou can find it in silver and black at B&H Photo. Tilta expansion baseplate for canon R50.

Do you have any recommendations for gimbals?

Great explanation. Did you use the R50 to record this?
