I know this model has been superseded by the EVOSAW 380, but this was still a very useful review. The 380 appears to differ primarily in the max blade diameter (15" = 380 mm, 14" = 355 mm). One thing is that all these metal cutting carbide tipped blade saws work best when the work is properly oriented. Proper orientation is an orientation that securely holds the work piece (supporting both sides for longer pieces) and that minimizes the cross sectional area that the blade will see at any time. For example the flat bar being cut at ~7:18 should have been tipped so that the wide portion was vertical (assuming it would clear the blade). Similarly, square and rectangular material is better cut in the so-called diamond orientation where a corner is resting on the bed of the saw instead of having one of the flat faces resting on the bed. The 380 saw comes with a plate that adds a notch that can be used to hold a relatively flat piece at an angle so that the blade is not engaged along such a large fraction of its circumference.
@@metalanddust Hey, How you doing? I was just curious on your opinion of this saw for cutting steel tubing? I just got one and it does great cutting solid steel, but to me it doesn't seem like it likes the interrupted cut you get from cutting steel tubing. I made a couple cuts in 2" x 2" x 1/4" steel tubing, and once it broke through the first flat surface and the double, interrupted cut started, it became really jumpy/jerky, to the point it had me worried that teeth would chip or break off the blade. Do you notice this to? And if so, have you came up with a way to alleviate some of this? Thanks Steve
Pataki Attila It depends what I’m cutting. I like my cold saw for doing production scale stuff and repetitive straight cuts. The Evo saw is my go-to for anything hard, dirty or quick. It can cut square if you spend the time to set it up and possibly do so for each cut, but it’s a waste of time doing so for large jobs. I cut engineering steels like EN19T which is hard, that stuff dulls cold saw blades within a cut. So I don’t even bother thinking of using anything other than the evo. If there were a ‘professional’ setup for running stock through an EVO blade with the capability of mitres etc, I’d choose that.
Mario Super cannot comment on this without too much guessing. I don’t believe so, it doesn’t have soft start or appear to have braking of such. Seems to me like a straight switched motor. But I may be wrong
Great video thankyou! I have tick metal plate thickness is about 100mm, and I want to cut it 3mm narrow (like slice) - do you think it is possible? How narrow can I cut with this machine?
GgKustomz thanks for the comment, and it depends what you're looking for. I would suggest it for fabricators and welders, I prefer my cold saw for fine work coming from a furniture background. Good for speed and productivity, cold saw for accuracy and refinement.

That will also cut a lot faster if you stand that steel upright
Could you post the model and serial number of this unit and where you purchased it please ? It seems this exact model is very hard to find here in the U.S.
Hi Miles, I got this unit direct from Evolution HQ as they are here in my home town. It called the EVOSAW 355 here but I have heard it being called the Raptor before. It is their 14" blade version with the cast base. I believe they ship worldwide from their website www.evolutionpowertools.com/us/steel/evosaw380.php
ega0117 It's a good machine. I like the speed and cut cleanliness. I have thought about making an infeed and outfeed table for it as the fence and angle accuracy is the only thing letting it down, (not that it can't be fine tuned with a gauge, just time consuming). I have not tried a rage 2. I do have a fury 3s and this outperforms that by a long shot, dedicated metal machine vs all-rounder though so tough competition.
Should have watch this first ,would have saved me a lot of hassle ,cause i bought a Makita abrasive saw ,it did not cut straight on 45 degree angle (rectangular steel 650x45x3 mm) ,mmmh upgraded with a Metabo Abrasive ,double the price still same problem , by the way Total Tools could had informed me better on this ,and for any one else reading this you can not , change the cutting blade from abrasive to cold saw blade due rpm is 4000 for abrasive and 1500 for Cold saw blade ,all this they won`t tell you or they simple don`t know ,nor did i knew , thanks for this video i have learned the hard way .
Whats the price for the saw and replacement blades I think I like that better than the Dewalt saw , im just starting up my TH-cam channel Subscribe if you like I will be doing some welding how to and Shop tips and tricks ... thanks for the Info

Can I use some cutting oil to extend the usage time
??
Powerful but mine never cut straight. Its about 1 degree off from the top to the bottom of the blade stroke. Very annoying
Great review! Thanx a lot! Which one do you prefer, the cold saw or this Evo?

Interesting video. Has this machine a startup electronics. For the most of this machines the fuse of my home is going out

Onde comprar essa policorte ??
watch up man...what the difference evo380 vs 355.. thanks? is iit the blade size only or what? thanks

Hey Jack would you consider this to be a good alternative to a cold saw?

They make a lot better one now. Tons of upgrades
Ordered my EVOSAW 180HD 7 days ago from Evolution on Amazon. Still haven't shipped it. VERY SLOW!
How do you like the evolution so far? Have you tried the evolution rage 2?
