I suggest giving his empty shield frame some cool transparent resin flames to give the impression that the energy shield within is flaring as it's being powered on
Holy shit this is actually an amazing idea for shield frames-if I ever get that knight or something else that has a shield or something like that, this will definitely be a must-do. EonsOfBattle should definitely do this.
I love how most people would worry about having enough time to build and paint the model. But Jay is always like "How can I go above and beyond, make it all at least a bit extra and give myself less time for painting because of all the cool stuff I want to do?" And I love it.
He seems like the type of guy that is naturally a perfectionist and would get no project done if he didn't make a conscious effort to work against that. And apparently he's developed the perfect work arounds!
The helmet is covering the "eyes" with armor because it's inspired from real medieval heavy mounted warfare and jousting helmets, which all limited vision greatly in favor of more armor. In sci-fi fantasy terms, the huge charging Knight doesn't really need to see his soon-dead enemy in detail in order to impale them with the lance.
I mean, by the same metric, this super heavy armored death machine doesn't actually need the added strip of armor, it needs to be able to see what it's about to annihilate. It doesn't make sense from a tactical perspective because as you know, something big and dumb and slow is called a boss fight, and it's surprisingly easy for something smaller and more limber and accurate to keep hitting it and whittling it down especially at weak points. Ideally, you make sure everything's toast before having a chance at really getting a good target lock on anything remotely of importance especially since aiming for the eyes requires you standing right in front of the thing and locking on, where the giant thing is looking. It'd be rear armour you'd likely care more about, also joint armour (excpeting the fact pilots are damn near as irreplaceable as the knight itself). Regardless I always found that "medieval wizards and goblins--in SPACE!" thing stupid as hell which is why I'm glad ratlings and squats are gone, and I wish they didn't do that stupid Matt Ward or Egyptian dynasty shit with the lore. But then again, tbqh I really don't dig like most of the post-heresy or even a good chunk of heresy era lore about the imperium at all either way, the only faction that is cool is the basically non-imperial one which is the Mechanicus. And even then, we don't have any lore on the dark mechanicum, which is hilarious given all the stuff I actually like is usually left in the dust bin and ignored, meanwhile they keep ramming stupid imperial shit for reasons I'll never understand. Maybe their imperial models sell more I have no idea, either way you can see with the epic failure that was Dawn of War III that the same tired shit of introducing some bs space elf, space ork, space goblin, space medieval guards whatever and then parceling out $14.99 DLC for each of the interesting factions is not guaranteed to do anything at all beside hurt your company financially. Take note of the fact the few things that truly dealt with lore and everything well was Rogue Trader, which is sad to me more people don't play it and the playerbase is filled with dweebs that want to nerf or ruin things. Then again it's not even based directly on the tabletop, though then again it also might work worse for a crpg so idk whatever. Still one of the best 40k games to come out since BFGA2, a lot of the rest all suck. Chaos Gate I'm like wtf are you even doing, it looks (and sounds) like a terrible Saturday morning kids cartoon like that cringey helicopter lightsaber kids show Star Wars did.
@@drek9k2 Good reply. Although, even without the "medieval knights in space" angle and such things. Sacrificing vision for "MORE DAMAGE/ARMOR/PROWESS" (loosely generalized) is a very 40k thing to do aesthetically.
@@lobo2367 Yeaaah and no though, I mean it's the Orky thing to do, that is orky af. But it's certainly not a Mechanicus thing to do at all. But I mean not it should matter either way because you'd think it's going to be brimming with targeting censors anyway. It's an aesthetic choice regardless. I guess I also can't help but think of Battletech too in this. Where the better your accuracy, literally the more damage you can do by simply gaining direct hits and criticals rather than splash/AoE.
Can we all just take a moment to appreciate the quality of the production of this video. I mean yes, the knight is freaking phenomenal, but the videography is great on this channel
I have no clue wtf I just watched or what you are building. But this is elite brain working here. You my friend are one patient human. I would’ve given up so quickly.
The amount of skill and devotion is just unthinkable but what catches my eye he most is your immense imagination!!! I loved how you just create a story when making the base even when you're on a timer. Amazing work and so inspiring
Wow. Youre my soul mate, i happen to have both the Aerial and Aerial Rebuild HGs with me now as projects for after hours on this overseas business trips. Miniature hobbies keep me sane on long business trips out of US.
As someone who’s never played Warhammer 40k, or doesn’t really know anything about it other than it’s a tabletop game, I found this very interesting. I have zero idea how this made it onto my algorithm but this is a very well done video!
7:07 the reason they did it that way is that they were probably inspired by horse blinders used by cavalry. The idea is when you're doing a charge with a horse you dont want them to panic, so blinders were invented. Not sure how nervous this massive knight gets though :D
I honestly always find knights really nice and easy to paint. Especially chaos. The entire chassis is essentially just lots and lots of metal and weathering, and the ability to paint the armor plates separately makes it really breezy. It's relaxing. Just thinking of it makes me want to paint another knight. Maybe I should print one again ...
I wont be watching the whole video, because I don't even play tabletop wargames, but I am stopping to leave a like and comment because I love your attitude and style.
I actually give praise to hobbyists like you man. Knowing that a plastic model will take weeks to finish, and loving every moment of it since it's your passion, is pretty cool. I wanted to edit my comment to ask how you would feel of painting a grim dark style krieg army? I feel like that would be a great addition to your collection

Really cool. Good job. Only thing I don't agree with is the eye/face guards you shifted. They were there to protect an obvious weakness (anything flying towards that direction has a medium chance of getting knocked away; even when the machine notices the danger at the last second, the damage can be minimized by the slightest head movement so that the danger hits the armor plate instead) & they don't really lessen the machines vision that much. Take humans for example, the nose is in the way but our brain removes that from our vision automatically.
That's all really cool, but since you started working on your Necron army again, I would really love to see you take on one of the big Necron war machines such as a Monolith or Tesseract Vault.
I would genuinely like to see you start working on Gunpla kits too. You seem to enjoy knights very much to the point you even build and paint them in a day. You could easily knock out that kit you have in a day. Also I guess I am the only one who thought your paint scheme was based off of the old Cartoonnetwork show Megas XLR lol
I think you must be the one who add this crazy much detail, to model and base, in a time limited challenge, and on top of that, amazing paintjob. Also, love the 90s commercial/worshop music.

Not a warhammer builder or fan really but you chose a good gunpla kit all of the witch from mercury kits are good and if you enjoyed building it I would recommend trying to get the gundam Calibarn kit.
This is amazing, absolutely mind-blowing result! I hope you let us in on the finished mini after the touchups
The posible hand Flippin us off in the background😂
phew good job you chose the lancer just finished sub assembling the castigator the ammo belt took me an hour and a half alone
As someone who picked up 5k+ of Dark angels and 2k of admech, and 1 k of knights in May. I can safely say I only have the knights left to get through
