    This is the best video of this laptop showing the perfect use case and convinced me to pick this up finally. Most tech reviewers are out of touch with most people's needs/wants. (Also had the best speakers of most devices I've tried in this price range after my best buy visit)

    • @TechOutAdam

      As a tech channel I'm always doing my best to act like I'm talking to a friend about if the product is worthwhile in real everyday use. Most tech reviewers explain too much that doesn't matter. I appreciate this comment Eric.

      Of course! I mean obviously I slack on it and am late but I usually get to every single one. I wished I was able to do TH-cam full time. @@TechOutAdam You persuaded me to buy one. :-) So in the meantime I bought the 8g-128g Sandstone colour model on Ebay. Not new, but "certified refurbished by Microsoft". Which is cool: I paid only $420 - which is a fantastic price - and you get a machine refurbished by Microsoft, again with 2 years of warranty, AND what's supercool: They come again in sealed plastic-wrapped packaging, the only diference is that the box now says "Certified refurbished by Microsoft technicians". The laptop came 100% scratch free and clean out of the box, really like new. I am super happy. Thanks again for the advice!

However, I also own a 13 inch surface laptop that I also love. Both would be great for school, but if I had to pick which one I’d rather write a paper on, I’d use a 15-inch screen. Of course, you can get the surface dock and hook up external monitors and give yourself bigger screens. Either one would be great.

      Windows S is a controlled Windows environment; Using Windows S, you are only allowed to install verified apps from the Microsoft Store itself and can not install Applications or Executables from any other sources with it enabled. It is great from a security standpoint as it keeps everything locked down so malicious software can't wreak havoc on your system. If you are looking and/or needing to be able to use apps and .exe's from sources outside of the Microsoft Store then do NOT use Windows S as it will render them unusable.

It's really a pretty good laptop for everyday use, also the display quality is probably one of the best at this price range due to its high sRGB coverage and high frequency PWM for screen dimming. I ditch all other laptop brands at the same or lower price range including business model laptops for its build and display qualities. Other laptop brands at the same or lower price range may provide better features but each brand has its own compromise due to budgetary constraint. Display quality is not my compromise, so I opt for Surface Laptop Go.

      @@blazingstriker7445 It's pretty good so far. Things that I really like from this laptop are the display, keyboard, touchpad and touchscreen. The font is a little bit too small for me, so I set the font size to 125% for readability. The battery life isn't really decent and you should not expect more than 5 ~ 6 hours battery life with the default "Recommended" power mode. Nevertheless, I am a battery-obsessive guy so I would actually charge my device quite often when its battery has been discharged by rate of 40% ~ 50%. You should follow the 40-80 battery rule if you want your device's battery to live for a long life because partial charge and discharge for Li-Ion battery could increase your battery charging cycle counts tremendously.
      For my first use of Windows 10 device, I would actually block all Windows Update services to get away from any troubles that might happen in the future. As for the device's performance, it should be fine for light-gaming and some intensive photo editing. Also, you might want to purchase some protective case and microfiber cloths just to protect / clean your device from any scratches / smudges / dusts, but stay away from any keyboard case to prevent overheating.

    • @yongsua1989
      @yongsua1989 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@carolestevenson1051 Hi, The 40-80 rule is kinda simple. You just have to remember to discharge your battery and allow the battery level to drop to 40% and charge it back to 80%. It is also known as partial charge and discharge which could extend the battery's life by increasing the number of charging cycles. You only need to perform battery calibration 3 months once by charging the battery to 100% and let the battery level drop to not lower than 5% and recharge it back to 100%. This is know as full charge cycle and you only do it once in a while for calibration purposes.
      It's not recommended to overcharge the battery by plugging in the charger all time as it deteriorates and shortens the battery life significantly.

    Do you think I should get an iPad Air 4 or this?

    • @TechOutAdam
      @TechOutAdam  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If OS doesn't matter, I'd get this for sure. The touch screen is the biggest reason why. It's such a nifty device and is a small form factor. What will you mainly use it for?

    Got this not too long ago (October 24th) but my battery life is not so good.. is there anything I can do, or should I just return it and get a different option (Lenovo yoga 7i)?

    • @TechOutAdam

      Maybe go for a different option. However, what issues are you having with the battery life? How long has it been lasting for you?

    Would you recommend this laptop for coding? I'm currently learning languages like python and sql and I want to build projects.

    • @TechOutAdam
      @TechOutAdam  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      As far as I know with friends who code and are software engineers, no. It needs more kick and you'll need more RAM because if you have multiplt apps open you'll keep that fan going all day.

    Hi, I’m looking to getting this laptop, but the 8gb RAM 256 gb ssd for school. I’m in IT and I program, I would only need it for a year for programming in school because I am in my 4th year. Would you still recommend for this task ?

  • @NurseKyla
    @NurseKyla 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    i just got this in the 4gb version🤦🏾‍♀️ a lot of people are saying that 4gb is a joke for a laptop should i return it and go up a size? i will mainly use it for college. Could i get by with purchasing a hard drive to store files on?

    • @TechOutAdam
      @TechOutAdam  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would absolutely get 8GB RAM no matter what at the least. With how much programs, apps and work takes these days 4GB is like if you're only doing web browsing. In that case, you may as well get a Chromebook which I'm not a fan of at all. Definitely upgrade the RAM!

    • @TechOutAdam

      Great question but no, sure you can pull it off but the fans would constantly be running and speed of production will be on the slower end. It needs 16GB of RAM before you can really push it with programs like that.
