Earl was on a lot of those extremely high notes! He was with them when they were on the sing-off. I really liked the sound they had when he was with the group because earl and elli could harmonize in the higher register and it always sounded awesome! Enjoyed it Danielle ! Low bass Kenneth
@ that’s good!👍 I have a lot of low basses that I looked up to! Jeoff is definitely a very talented and has continued to make his bass better and stretched his voice higher as well! Thanks for the comment! Low bass Kenneth
Yes, it was Earl on those high notes. It’s hard to believe but Eli’s spot back then was as second tenor and Earl was first. Not because Eli couldn’t sing high. We all know how high he can get. But Earl was higher and they were a bit more structured in who sang which part back then. It seems once J joined they began switching around more. Nowadays they really switch around especially depending on who is featuring. But most everyone in current VoicePlay just has such range that they kind of play in whichever lane the arranger decides. I don’t really remember Earl singing very low (perhaps someone can correct me if I’m wrong) although he wasn’t ever only high notes. But both Eli and J can hit some bass notes. In fact, the Navy has J singing bass in their group Sea Chanters.
Earl is probably the highest-placed a cappella tenor I've ever heard. For a good example of his high range, check out VoicePlay's "Diamond in the Rough." Earl sings Jasmine's part from "A Whole New World," all in his full voice. th-cam.com/video/RZ2j4WEEHrk/w-d-xo.html

The low bass is named Geoff, not Kenneth lol

Earl was a founding member, back in 1997, along with Geoff and Layne.
Thanks for this reaction to an earlier version of VoicePlay when Earl and J. were in the group! VoicePlay is great in all of their iterations.
Happy Holidays.
I am not sure I ever heard this one.
Thanks for reacting to it.
Beautiful! 🎄🌹🕊

As far as I know, Earl's lowest recorded note is a G#2, which is not particularly low lol
Merry Christmas!
