Another important player of Christmas past is Bob Hope and his USO tours to American troops abroad. Those shows started in WW2 in the Pacific theater. His shows continued on up through Vietnam and beyond. They were always on one of our bases close to the front lines. During one show in Thailand during the Vietnam War, a B-52 bomber was on fire and made an emergency landing . Bob could see it from the stage.
The song "White Christmas" was first sung by Bing Crosby in the movie "Holiday Inn"(1942). He starred in the movie with Fred Astaire. Excellent singing and dancing in the movie. It would be hard not to tear up at times watching it although it's mainly a comedy.
SO LOVED BING - STILL DO!! HE was our GO-TO for CHRISTMAS MUSIC, when I was little, at our house!! His White Christmas album is AMAZING!! HUGS from TEXAS!!
I grew up listening to Bing Crosby at every Christmas. To me, this is the quintessential Christmas album of all time. Martina McBride's White Christmas album is also a great one.
Merry Christmas DAY 2024!! 😊❤ This has been on my playlist for hmmm at least 4 decades. ❤😊🎄 plus PERRY COMO “Ave Maria”. Beautiful Christmas music. 🎵 🎄
Bing had such a great voice, always a staple in my classic Christmas playlist. (right there with Nat King Cole, Karen Carpenter, Johnny Mathis, Andy Williams, Doris Day, Brenda Lee, Dean Martin etc) Merry Christmas & blessings in the New Year!
For Bing Crosby as an actor, in addition to White Christmas and The Bells of St. Mary's, check out the movie Stagecoach also starring John Wayne or any of the seven "Road to..." movies with Bob Hope. The man was versatile!
Bing is wonderful singing so many Christmas favorites. JUST A SUGGESTION I hope you do. One of the best LIVE performances I saw was DOLLY PARTON on an Awards Show (I think) singing, "HE'S ALIVE." I don't think it's necessarily a Christmas song but, trust me, it fits. Dolly is dressed all in white. Trust me again, it's powerful and you'll both love it.
Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year's time. Thanks for all the music you have presented for our listening experience in 2024. Best to you both throughout 2925.
Bing singing this and _'White Christmas'_ are essentials for the holiday. Since you two look at films, you need to see Bing and Bob Hope in their _'Road to......'_ series of movies. Plus, keeping with the movie theme and your sweaters, you need to see the classic Christmas movie _'Die Hard'_ to get this reference: "Ho, Ho, Ho, now I have......" (Keeping it spoiler free). Merry Christmas everyone.
You guys just another example ( among many others similar folks) who " discover " an old, long known famous artists and groups. I still don't get it when I see all this stuff - you are in your 40s as it looks - and you never listened/ heard most of the bands you aired here? How that possible? To live in US/ Canada and no be aware of those famous ones, who were played around from each corner so to say mln times? I would understand if it were some rapper kids, they don't know anything, but you guys? Stunning...
======= My favorite Bing song is a Hymn (not gospel music) called Holy Holy Holy th-cam.com/video/c0VXgDcO1lM/w-d-xo.html Little known trivia, of all people, Bing was one of 2 very big idols to Elvis. The other being Dean Martin, Elvis' biggest influence. He desperately wanted to be another pop crooner like these two. However, modern biopics of elvis now omit this, and sell Elvis as a blues-only artist. Also note, you should listen to the very serene original version of Drummer Boy from 1958, by Harry Simeone Chorale..... th-cam.com/video/oR_Rb9A7ImM/w-d-xo.html
eh, they never pick the right ones.. the good ones are jingle bells (with the andrew sisters), santa claus is coming to town, silver bells, mele kalikimaka, and christmas in killarney.. and of course white christmas
This joke works better if said - do you know that "Do you hear what I hear?" is not the original name of this song . Do you know what the original name was? They are supposed to say "What?" - you say "exactly" - get it?

You simply can't go wrong with Bing Crosby and traditional Christmas music.
SO LOVED BING - STILL DO!! HE was our GO-TO for CHRISTMAS MUSIC, when I was little, at our house!! His White Christmas album is AMAZING!! HUGS from TEXAS!!
When Bing spoke as an actor his voice often sounded like he was almost singing the lines, they came out so smoothly and natural.
Hope you both are having a great Christmas. Love your reactions.

Bing may be the "King of Christmas" BUT, Andy Williams is "Mister Christmas"! Worth checking him out too.

Hey Merry Christmas and Happy New Year God bless to y'all too ❤️
Great song. But you really messed up not going for drummer boy on his Christmas special that had David Bowie in it lol
No mistake. They reacted to that one last year. th-cam.com/video/mkF_r-npW-4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=r7Gs4p_adW9k3kfv

You could have at least fix a video where we see the singer.
