- In this video, I discuss the prospect of filming on-ride POVs, and go over what parks allow filming with GoPros and other such cameras. This was made in an attempt to help those looking to film on-ride POVs *legally*, at parks that allow this to be done!

For SeaWorld San Antonio and San Diego, yes on chest and wrist mounts without checking in. San Antonio may get some issues with wrist mounts depending on the ride op present.
A video much needed for others to help them👏
Thanks for this, I have a hero 9 GoPro and have always wanted to be able to capture a great POV, I think it is a super cool thing
This video and some of these comments helped me get ready for my upcoming trip to San Diego.
Glad we could help!
Such a useful content, could even help to prevent accidents. I, myself, was a victim of a cam on the face injury on steeve back 2019
For anyone wondering about the parks on the west coast: seaworld San Diego:yea no problem, universal studios Hollywood: you can record on the studio tour and I didn’t have any trouble on Jurassic world, transformers and secret life of pets, six flags magic mountain and knotts: NO you will get in trouble if you do, disneyland and California adventure: yes there are no problems whatsoever. Other parks I’ve visited that I’ve visited that don’t are: Cedar Point and six flags great America
Thanks a lot I’m gonna use a GoPro hand mount at Disney land aventures

@@TheLoopCoasters I didn’t have fun I broke my leg because I didn’t put my strap on on the ride and they band me from coming back

I have to make a note on Universal Hollywood now they do allow you to film on like ones you've mentioned and definitely the studio tour but there is one issue like for Transformers or some of the more interactive rides they have no problem with you filming but posting them is a different story because if you're giving too much away then your video can be blocked by universal. I've had the okay to be able to film Fast and the Furious supercharged on the studio Tram Tour and then my video got blocked worldwide. I reached out to the marketing department and explained hey what's the issue with this I was told I could film. They said we will retract this block but normally they don't really want you showing the full video and giving everything away but we will retract this. My Transformers want also got blocked worldwide that again probably is more because of the video and the audio that's playing and again giving too much away.
For Jurassic world make sure that when you are editing the video that you're not using the original audio from the ride because that is copyrighted by John Williams so you need to have some sort of third-party music over that otherwise you will get a Content ID and you won't be able to earn revenue on that.
What I did was purchased a license for play some similar music that sounds like Jurassic Park the music but then I kind I kind of faded in the original audio of the sound effects from the dinosaurs and things like that into the video so you can still hear the ride sounds but not the music from John Williams.
Another thing you do not want to do is show a video of the ride breaking down especially if you're on their media list because you can't get a copyright strike from Universal because again they don't want you showing the ride breaking down they want you to show the positive of the ride itself.
I've never gotten a copyright strike from that but I did have their media team reach out to me asking me to remove the malfunction video of Fast and the Furious supercharged basically the ride breaks down and the car lowers but the characters just stay floating in the air.
They just gave me a courtesy telling me that I should remove that so that I don't get a copyright strike basically if I was in compliant. I was very nice about it and said oh yeah sure I will definitely do that.
My GoPro buckle mounts broke on a roller coaster what do I do
Can u tell tell us what are your settings on your videos???
How do you record at six flags parks
Do you know about Kings Dominion's policy, it's in Doswell, Virginia?
How do you do it at cedar point though
can it work with fun spot parks?
Can you send me the link to the wrist mount
I'm going to cedar point and bought a GoPro and everything you need, and now i cant film... I am going to liseberg this year though and i can maybe reach out to them
What about parks in the west coast?
thanks for the information
Another park that allows GoPros is Lagoon Amusement Park. They have absolutely no problem with them either being a chest mount, wrist, ect. I think they even allow cell phones which I STRONGLY DO NOT RECOMMEND, PLEASE DON’T BRING YOUR PHONES. But yeah, they allow GoPros with no issue or checking in with the park to see if they’re okay with it.
That’s great to hear (at least the gopro part)!
😂 Yeah. Luckily I rarely see phones taken on the rides. But GoPros allowed is a MAJOR W. Hints why I have so much Lagoon POV’s posted.
Do they kinda ignore their own rules? (I don't mind if they do)...or has this recently changed? I am looking at their FAQs in their official website and it says it is definitely not allowed.
@ Huh! Maybe they do
Even if I were able to get permission I would be so nervous to even do so if I had the proper stuff
My homepark (Silverwood) also allows GoPros on wrist/hand/chest mounted.
That’s awesome!
That's good to know. It's one of the last major parks that I have not visited.
Sweet, it does? I’m going there soon good to know
Which GoPro Settings would you recommend me for my Hero 10 for night and vor day?
I have the chest mount, doesnt it brake?
+1
Appreciae the video!
So in regards to asking the parks for permission to film in advance, where on a park’s website would I contact the PR teams or marketing team?
Majority of parks don’t provide that contact information publicly. Generally, if a park doesn’t provide that information on their website, it’s a safe bet that they likely will not allow you to film
clutch vid ty
I know this is an old video but im visiting family in upstate NY and we are stopping by Six Flags Darien Lake. Would you know if the allow filming or not?
I believe they do not allow on-ride filming
Question: when I record my recording glasses is it okay to upload on TH-cam and give a description for my recording glasses? On a roller coaster wise
Many youtubers use camera glasses such as theme park pov or james c, so I think it's fine.
Dear,
How can I mount my gopro the best on my chest mount for onrides?
What direction do I need to put the pins and do I need to put the gopro upside down or not?
Kind regards,
jan
Typically I mount the GoPro on it upside down
Coliwood do u think I’ll be able to get my GoPro over a vest restraint with a chest mount? (I’m 5,7 btw)
Possibly
do universal studios + islands of adventure florida let you film if you have a chest mounted gopro?
To my knowledge, no
Do Great adventures in Philadelphia allow 360 cameras ? On chest mount ? Or wrist mount
Great Adventure in Jackson, NJ doesn’t allow on-ride filming of any kind.
What about Universal Studios Orlando / Hollywood
Anyone know about Kentucky kingdom? I have a GoPro hero 12 with a chest mount.
I don’t believe Kentucky Kingdom allows on-ride filming without permission
Anyone know if you’re allowed to film on-ride at parks like Alton towers and Thorpe park in the uk?
I’m not familiar with the policies overseas unfortunately
@@ColiwoodStudios it’s fine, don’t worry
For Disney, AFAIK you generally are allowed to film on most, but not all, attractions (e.g Soarin’, Flight of Passage, just to name a few). However, it should be noted that you cannot use the flash function (or external video lighting) on your phone/camcorder.
Adding to this, BOTH Tron and space Mountain at WDW have restrictions on loose items now
wait are you not allowed to film on soarin??? cuz I filmed on there
@@Didyus it’s been that way for several years, but I’m not sure if that’s changed or not
@@3dkidsartfairs well I filmed like that like 3 years ago
@@Didyus I recall in the past being told that you can't film Soarin'. Disney in general is really nice about people using camcorders or phone cameras on rides. I generally don't film on Soarin, Tron, or FOP out of common courtesy.
Yo whats up dude. Love your videos I'm subscribed! I was wondering if you knew policies of the Funspot parks? I would love to get a gopro reaction on ArieForce One
Unfortunately I’m not sure what the policies are at the Fun Spot Parks
@@ColiwoodStudiosyou can’t film at fun spot without reaching out
I would like to confirm (I don’t film or take pics on ride anymore, unless it’s on observation rides (most of them do allow it with a few exceptions), but around 2015-16 when I was before I decided against it, I remember Morey’s not allowing GoPro chest mounts at all back then, and Castaway I remember between 2015-17, them allowing chest mounts back then for all rides (excluding GaleForce) but they might’ve changed it since then, but I haven’t filmed on rides (no matter what park policy is) in a while (aside from observation rides or maybe like the Fun Slide and Raiders at Gillian’s to get photos from there and Gillian’s obviously doesn’t care if you film in any way since it’s small and family owned).
The rules have changed to what I mentioned in the video since then
I do that as well on Observation Rides if I go to parks that have them
@@ColiwoodStudiosthey said I can’t bring GoPro on west coaster

What's great adventures policy for getting permission & Hersheypark
Also what's a good go pro for filming that's $200 or under
Great Adventure & Hersheypark only grant permission and invite those who are of a larger size on social media, or are members of the media to film. There really aren’t any action cameras that cheap, and personally, I would not go any older than the HERO 8 in terms of GoPros.
@@ColiwoodStudios alright thanks also is there a certain amount of subs or tiktok followers you need to have and what vest would you use to film just let me know thanks again

I would love to try this with glasses that have a camera I’d feel more safe those are super expensive though
As far as I know, those are not allowed to be used at most parks
@@ColiwoodStudios yeah that’s a shame
I have camera glasses myself and I’ve used them at parks that don’t allow GoPros such as Dollywood, Kings dominion and Hersheypark. That’s the best way to film at parks that don’t allow GoPros. Just make sure they have a Strap
Good Day How about Universal in Florida!
For bgt do you have to check in with guest services?
I did not when I was there

For seaworld parks can you just walk in or do you email them
It depends on the park, but none require an email prior
@@ColiwoodStudios at San Diego and there was no trouble
Do you know the policies at Coney Island
I do not unfortunately
Does SeaWorld Orlando allow for GoPro Head mounts?
No
Not head mounts but yes to chest mounts
I do not get the point of not letting people record since I saw someone in front of me in a high rollercoaster holding a phone in their hand without any straps and it didn't fall, and with a mount, its like 100% safe that it is not gonna fall off so why r they prohibiting it? It's so stupid
It’s not stupid. Those phones become projectiles. This is the one thing where the rules are justified.
You should never wanna take your phone out on a coaster unless you wanna lose it or hurt somebody else with it. But I will agree not being aloud to take a GoPro with a nice and secure mount at a park is pretty irritating.
Is a AKASO Brave 7le allowed?
I’d imagine as long as it’s secured the same way as a GoPro, it would be
How do I get permission for kings dominion?
There is not a way to
Don't forget Disney World Orlando allows filming on there roller coasters
What roller coaster is at 1:34?? 😮
It transitions from Pirate’s Hideaway at Casino Pier to Possessed at Dorney Park
What about universal Orlando?
As far as I know, you are not permitted to film on most rides at Universal Orlando
And what about riding with sunglasses like Rayban Meta?
Technically, that still counts against most park’s policies
Chest mounts make sense, not really an easy way for that to fail.
Does Magic Mountain allows to film?
No
@@ColiwoodStudios I bought a GoPro because I'm going to Magic Mountain next month, I'm sad now.
What about recording glasses?
That depends on the park, but typically are not favorable
which gopro you are using?
Hero 11, Hero 10, and an Insta360 X3
Anybody know about six flags at Louis?
Cannot film there
Which chest do you have?
We use GoPro’s official chest mount
can I use a wrist watch that has a camera in it?
I wouldn’t risk it
@@ColiwoodStudios ok thanks mate
I did this at Magic Mountain recently and didn't have an issue, though it is generally not allowed. My watch is super discrete and secure, but the footage I captured was not great as most rides were very shaky. Still it was better than nothing, and I understood It was a risk. I just made Sure it was secure and didn't disturb anyone about filming on-ride because I knew they'd say no even if it was discrete or secure. Best of luck!
@@CoastersenEspanol yeah I had a go to. its a bit to shaky low fps but gives a realistic rider cam on the intense rides. I've seen some pretty expensive glasses at rayban I might consider getting with a sports strap to stop falling off. what I don't get is parks like energylandia and all uk funfairs can do it why cant merlin and chain parks ? its way safer to use a GoPro on a mount than a phone/watch/glasses
@@Competent-rides My thoughts exactly, I don't understand why they can't do it. On one hand, it might encourage safer procedure, as those who film may be encouraged to do it the way it is allowed to (ie. with Go Pro or glasses), on the other hand, it could open the floodgates to people filming on their phones anyway...But yeah I use the watch footage to show general reaction of me and my friends to use on vlogs. I know it is way too low quality to use as official POVs plus that market is super oversaturated. Still super fun though to film this way and give unique angles 🙂
How can I contact Sf great adventures PR Team.
From what I know, they currently do not have someone to contact from the PR department, and typically, only honor requests from those with a larger social media following.
@@ColiwoodStudios so I reached out to them and got a case code and they emailed me that my request will be given to the upper management team. Is that good ?

Six flags great adventure?
Absolutely not
Ahh POVs. Once an mature, lucrative market… Let’s just say times are crazy🤌🏽
The way I see it, the floodgates have already opened, and there’s no way to close them. But, we might as well at least try to make sure they do it the right way

Does your age matter too?
No
@@ColiwoodStudios nice! I guess I’ll start posting on my main soon, thanks!
Copywrite laws are a huge reason to not film without permission.
I feel kind of funny with this. I don't feel any ride is copyrighted even though they might be. I think of copyright with films and music or something like that but not exactly with theme park rides if this makes sense. Although, they can protect the ride design from someone else creating it, but I feel that is different, but this is just me of course. Thankfully TH-cam does have a feature if it does detect copyright and ask permission there assuming the location allows for recording for personal use at least in the first place. I would avoid asking for monetization purposes as I would leave that up with TH-cam dispute section if written properly. This is how I would do it. I guess you can view this as a tip I can give. 😅
As for video recording not being allowed that is due to their concern of dropping a camera but with a harness, it should always be allowed in my opinion on all rollercoasters. But again, just my thoughts. 😅🙂📹
