The fact that Selena was 15 at the time and Drew Seeley (Joey) was 26 years old at the time this movie was released honestly kept me from ever enjoying this movie. I was really into Tiger Beat and all of those magazines like that at the time, when I found out both of their ages (even though I was only around 12 or 13), I was like.. 😳😬

I dunno, I liked Ever After. It was smart, the protagonist wasn't this dainty little "help me" girl, the prince didn't have the IQ of a sack of hammers and the antagonist absolutely nailed it. I mean.. come on. She was *Morticia*. You can't do better than that. XD
I love ever after too! Though I have a slightly different view on the prince. You're right, he wasn't dumber than a box of rocks, but when I rewatched it a few months ago (hadn't seen it since I was a kid/teenager) he annoyed me, because he was so self absorbed and a little clueless. He was spoiled, but I guess that comes with being an only child and a prince
Pleaseeee do Cow Belles!! I watched this movie recently and was so triggered by the love stories that made no sense. Literally, the whole movie, I was hearing your sound effects and laughing (inside so no one thought I was nuts). Keep being you girl!

The two evil step sisters are also the sisters from the "GingerSnap" series, as well as the one also from "She's the man" plays Becky in Supernatural as well as the other one who plays Ginger in the GingerSnap movies is in Supernatural as well. Interesting these two always seem to do projects together. ❤
Honestly, I support editing-you's choice, not just because you should never do more work than you feel like doing, but also because the Female Protagonist Fall Compilation is more centered on "female protagonist falls because she's clumsy or whatever" random stuff, whereas "female protagonist falls due to deliberate malice by other people doing a thing-which-makes-people-fall" feels validly different IMO. This could've been so good if they did a role reversal Cinderella story where Selina was the pop-star/prince and meets a down to earth guy. Would've loved that. Also, fun fact, the 2 evil step sisters play sisters in one of my FAVORITE werewolf movie series (except the 3rd one) Ginger Snaps.

I hate this rendition of Cinderella, but I wouldn't call this one the worst. I think that Camila Cabello one is the worst. This one is definely the second worst in my honest opinion. Also, glad to see you back with a bad movie review. Keep doing you Jaime, we'll be here ❤
Ever After is so cute and definitely a classic, but i will say Rodgers and Hammersteins Cinderella starring Brandy is my favorite retelling for nostalgic reasons 😆🥰

As a movie suggestion, I think you should totally review Freaky Friday with Lindsay and Jamie Lee. Love this movie but I just know you wouldn’t let the fact that he technically fell in love with her mom go unnoticed 😭
Fun fact. The two actresses who play the evil sisters also play the sisters in the Ginger Snaps movies. The one who plays Brit/Eunice also plays the young Beverly in the 90s IT movie.

the 'embarrassing' video tape of Mary gushing about Joey really put me off this movie the first time i watched it because it emphasised the age gap between the two to a point where it's all i could think about. i know that the movie has them both in their teens but in real life selena was 15-16 while drew seeley was 26😶

Have you ever watched Cinderfella with Jerry Lewis? I had a crazy obsession with old movies and actors as a kid. Now that I'm older I've started to rewatch some of my childhood favorites. You have inspired me to revisit some classics.
Another Cinderella Story was actually my favorite one by far as a pre teen lol I watched it so many times. Idk if I was just obsessed with Selena and how relatable she was to me with her longboard and her crappy family life, but still. I still think it’s a banger 😂

I actually loved this movie as a kid. I still do. It’s kinda a vibe. Idk why but I associate this movie with Christmas time. Definitely a comfort movie
Two things: I couldn't get over the age difference of the two leads in this movie (15 & 26 during filming) so i think what adds to the awkwardness of it all is that we're watching a full-grown man flirt w a child. The song at the end (New Classic) is admittedly so catchy
I am not ashamed to admit that in my youth I loved this movie unconditionally as if I would my own child. Now that I am older and know oh so much better I love it now unconditionally for the fever-dream dumpster fire that in my heart can never be extinguished. Of course I didn't realize when I was a child some of the implications that complicated things like if Mary was gushing over Joey when she was a mere child how old would that make Joey who apparently was popular at the that time.
I thought the same thing I had an epiphany one day watching it as a kid like how are they the same age but he was popular when she was a kid but I think that he was probably like her age just popular back then but the timeline didn’t seem to add up
I also need a review of literally any Mary Kate and Ashley movie! Those were iconic but every time I rewatch them as an adult, I find a lot of it hilarious and cringy 😂
Drew Seeley actually did voice Zac Efron in the first HSM movie. He also did other songs for other Disney movies (well singing as himself lol.) I'm surprised he didn't become a Disney star. He had the voice and the face for it.😉
I thought he had an amazing voice too, but like everyone else said Drew was just a bit older compared to the other Disney counterparts… especially to play their love interest. Heck, looking back it was pretty in appropriate to have him play the love interest in this movie bc he was 10 years older to a then teenaged Selena Gomez 🥴 I feel like if he would’ve joined disney a bit earlier than he did, I could’ve seen him becoming a bigger star and possibly have a Disney sitcom show revolving around him and his music.
What grosses me out is that Drew Seeley is 10 years and 3 months older than Selena Gomez...meaning he was 26 and she was 16 🤢 I remember watching this when it first came out and thinking how unique and cool it was....now I'm just cringing. I would belt out "Tell Me Something I Don't Know" like it was the most epic jam in the world 😂 I sincerely hope that you are doing better emotionally/mentally than when you posted the life update video, and that you know we love and support you no matter what/how often you post. I always thought that the "dance club" scene was actually a private studio where they took lessons. Otherwise, I'm not sure why the stepsisters were there because they suck, and Mary has to sneak in through the window because she can't afford it. Either way, it is creepy and weird. I loved this movie growing up and now I rewatch it and just ask myself why? As always, love the video Jaime!!!
I agree. This female protagonist was the victim of a plot to fell her. She didn't fall because of her own clumsiness at the dance, and so that fall doesn't belong in the compilation. Good call.

The scene in Hilary Duff’s cinderella story where the evil stepsisters humiliate Sam in front of Chad is SO much more effective than this one. the play the stepsisters put on was truly mean spirited and hard to watch imo, truly some horrendous shit. (even though it made no sense for it to turn chad off dating her.)
I know how absolutely terrible this movie is, but i genuinely would watch this as a comfort movie and I am still deeply, emotionally attached. It’s so cathartic and funny seeing you review it and point out the hilarity and ridiculousness of it all 😭😂

@@meganjaime7728 no that was the excuse they gave as to why he couldn’t do the live tour for HSM, but I don’t buy that lol he just didn’t want to be going on a tour lipsynching to Drew’s voice so used Hairspray as a scapegoat. No one knew who Zac was until HSM came out, he got the role in Hairspray because of HSM’s success.
@@meganjaime7728 No. Zac was going through puberty during the recording of the songs, so he no longer had the voice to sing the songs in the first movie.
The songs in the first HSM were written before casting and Zac couldn’t hit the notes so Drew filled in. Since he was the real singer he did the cast tour with the others. The other movies they wrote the songs in Zac’s key so he could actually sing them. (I may have been a bit obsessed with Drew Seeley back in the day lol and somehow still remember these things)

I wish you could review Hallmark movies. I've been on a Hallmark mystery movie binge and it's absolutely great. Aurora Teagarden, garage sale mysteries, flower shop mystery, and ruby herring. Those are just some of my favorite. So cheesy and predictable but also so entertaining.

I hate this rendition of Cinderella, but I wouldn't call this one the worst. I think that Camila Cabello one is the worst. This one is definely the second worst in my honest opinion. Also, glad to see you back with a bad movie review. Keep doing you Jaime, we'll be here ❤

Ever After is so cute and definitely a classic, but i will say Rodgers and Hammersteins Cinderella starring Brandy is my favorite retelling for nostalgic reasons 😆🥰
The two evil step sisters were played by Emily Perkins and Katherine Isabelle. Both were in the iconic series Ginger Snaps filmed in 2000, I wish you'd do one on those movies as I was absolutely obsessed, lol.

the 'embarrassing' video tape of Mary gushing about Joey really put me off this movie the first time i watched it because it emphasised the age gap between the two to a point where it's all i could think about. i know that the movie has them both in their teens but in real life selena was 15-16 while drew seeley was 26😶

I actually loved this movie as a kid. I still do. It’s kinda a vibe. Idk why but I associate this movie with Christmas time. Definitely a comfort movie
Must admit that as a teen my friends and I found the mirror dance scene romantic and goosebumps-inducing 😂😂
Two things:
I couldn't get over the age difference of the two leads in this movie (15 & 26 during filming) so i think what adds to the awkwardness of it all is that we're watching a full-grown man flirt w a child.
The song at the end (New Classic) is admittedly so catchy
I am not ashamed to admit that in my youth I loved this movie unconditionally as if I would my own child. Now that I am older and know oh so much better I love it now unconditionally for the fever-dream dumpster fire that in my heart can never be extinguished. Of course I didn't realize when I was a child some of the implications that complicated things like if Mary was gushing over Joey when she was a mere child how old would that make Joey who apparently was popular at the that time.

Drew Seeley actually did voice Zac Efron in the first HSM movie. He also did other songs for other Disney movies (well singing as himself lol.) I'm surprised he didn't become a Disney star. He had the voice and the face for it.😉

I thought he had an amazing voice too, but like everyone else said Drew was just a bit older compared to the other Disney counterparts… especially to play their love interest. Heck, looking back it was pretty in appropriate to have him play the love interest in this movie bc he was 10 years older to a then teenaged Selena Gomez 🥴 I feel like if he would’ve joined disney a bit earlier than he did, I could’ve seen him becoming a bigger star and possibly have a Disney sitcom show revolving around him and his music.
What grosses me out is that Drew Seeley is 10 years and 3 months older than Selena Gomez...meaning he was 26 and she was 16 🤢 I remember watching this when it first came out and thinking how unique and cool it was....now I'm just cringing. I would belt out "Tell Me Something I Don't Know" like it was the most epic jam in the world 😂

Same, I just turned 38 and love it to this day! 😂 I think I was about 22 when it came out and how I drooled over Drew Seeley....Plus, Jane Lynch and the step-sisters were hilarious.
Seeing Emily Perkins and Katherine Isabelle side-by-side playing a sister duo again (Ginger Snaps anybody?!) makes me think this movie would benefit massively if there was just a random werewolf so we can take a 180 and go full horror movie here.

I danced at a studio that had a two-way mirror, but it was so parents could watch their little kids without the kids getting distracted. Sooo…it was just a waiting room with chairs, not an entire second studio lol

I always thought that the "dance club" scene was actually a private studio where they took lessons. Otherwise, I'm not sure why the stepsisters were there because they suck, and Mary has to sneak in through the window because she can't afford it. Either way, it is creepy and weird. I loved this movie growing up and now I rewatch it and just ask myself why? As always, love the video Jaime!!!

I agree. This female protagonist was the victim of a plot to fell her. She didn't fall because of her own clumsiness at the dance, and so that fall doesn't belong in the compilation. Good call.

The scene in Hilary Duff’s cinderella story where the evil stepsisters humiliate Sam in front of Chad is SO much more effective than this one. the play the stepsisters put on was truly mean spirited and hard to watch imo, truly some horrendous shit. (even though it made no sense for it to turn chad off dating her.)
Seriously. They put on a skit in front of the entire school where even the parents laughed.
I know how absolutely terrible this movie is, but i genuinely would watch this as a comfort movie and I am still deeply, emotionally attached. It’s so cathartic and funny seeing you review it and point out the hilarity and ridiculousness of it all 😭😂

100% true that Drew Seeley was the singing voice of Troy in the first HSM only, he even wrote Getcha Head in the Game. He’s a tenor belting out those high Breaking Free notes, while Efron is a baritone.
Wasn’t it because Efron was doing Hairspray and they didn’t want him singing in something else? I honestly don’t know if that’s true or not though. 😆
@@meganjaime7728 no that was the excuse they gave as to why he couldn’t do the live tour for HSM, but I don’t buy that lol he just didn’t want to be going on a tour lipsynching to Drew’s voice so used Hairspray as a scapegoat. No one knew who Zac was until HSM came out, he got the role in Hairspray because of HSM’s success.

The songs in the first HSM were written before casting and Zac couldn’t hit the notes so Drew filled in. Since he was the real singer he did the cast tour with the others. The other movies they wrote the songs in Zac’s key so he could actually sing them. (I may have been a bit obsessed with Drew Seeley back in the day lol and somehow still remember these things)

I wish you could review Hallmark movies. I've been on a Hallmark mystery movie binge and it's absolutely great. Aurora Teagarden, garage sale mysteries, flower shop mystery, and ruby herring. Those are just some of my favorite. So cheesy and predictable but also so entertaining.
